Found Safe MD - Deborah Anne Celmer, 41, Rockville, 12 Oct 2019

I'm hoping there's no coverage because they have a POI and everything is being taken care of behind the scenes, so no need for publicity.

I’m only liking this because you’ve said it’s being taken care of and not because of the POI. I’m still hoping she’s popped off for a fun break. I’m glad it’s a priority.

Ms. Celmer is my child's teacher and I'm very concerned that there's so little information surrounding her disappearance.

We met her at Open House last month and she seemed like a very dedicated teacher. From what I recall, she's not married and has no children. She used to teach in New Jersey before Bethesda, and she often bikes.

According to my child, she did not show up to school the Friday (Oct 11) before she was seen by her family on Saturday (Oct 12). Saturday evening's weather was clear and beautiful, so this is not likely weather-related.

Ok. My child said that Ms. Celmer was absent on Thursday, October 10. It was something she had not warned the class about so the sub was a surprise.
Apparently, Ms. Celmer returned to teach on Friday, 11th and apologized to the class stating an emergency —no details — had come up and that she was impressed that the class had completed their work from yesterday. Work and homework was also assigned that same day on the 11th. My child’s class is in the afternoons. Possible she left early. My child said there was no mention by Ms. Celmer of weekend plans, fun travel plans, intentions of time off work, etc. Not returning to school on Monday was unexpected.

Like others, I was reading everything to assume Ms. Celmer’s first absent day was Monday, 14th AFTER she had hung out with family and seemingly met up with the unknown (to us) friend.

It is interesting that Ms. Celmer had an unexcused absence (due to an emergency) prior to Saturday. Does the family know what the emergency was?

It’s getting curiouser and curiouser.

I can’t believe there’s no new news about Deborah. Like others, I really want to know about the friend she was supposedly going to see. I wonder if this friend had anything to do with her “emergency” on Thursday that caused her to miss school. This is very worrisome and seems to be so out of character for her to just take off. I hope LE is doing lots of behind the scenes investigating because there’s not much out there.

If she bikes and weather was beautiful on the weekend she disappeared a bike accident might be a possibility.

Glimmer of good news: I hadn’t seen this bit of news: Yesterday, a local mag reported the police as saying no evidence of foul play... nothing taken, stolen, messed up at Ms. Celmer’s apt. No forced entry etc. No unusual credit card usage either.
Did she go home? Surely apt complexes have cameras.
What if (again not meaning to but worst case scenario) there’s no motive for theft.

What other scenarios fall under this umbrella for “No evidence of foul play?”
Obviously, an issuing relating to mental stability (new or past repeated behavior), willingly
going with someone known to her but not expecting anything negative happening. A random person approaching her.

It would help if a small amount of info would come out just to eliminate much of this. Better, it would great if Ms. Celmer would just show up.

Also, going back to my comment stating my child mentioned that Ms. Celmer took a day off and then explained to her students it was due to an emergency could mean nothing or anything . The emergency could’ve simply meant that she had to pick up an out of towner last minute from an airport or train station. That unplanned day off may be completely unrelated to her disappearance two days later. Or, that day could hold some valuable insight to her disappearance. I’m sure the police are combing through all of this.

She claimed to be an avid recreational biker but not like a pro cyclist (wouldn’t be caught in cycle shorts!) -is her bike still around or has she got it in the trunk of her car?

Correct, she did not notify the school that she wouldn't be in. She had family in town from out of state, and saw them that weekend, as well as other friends (like my close friend, who went down to Rockville to visit them all). Her family was still in town Sunday, but Debbie was already missing by that point, not answering calls to her cell phone. Her car has not been seen. People have driven around the city searching as much as they can.

Hi. Sorry to be directly nosey. Are you hearing any updates? It’s getting even more alarming now as each day passes.
Can you find out if there’s anything locally we can do to help without interfering. Chatting and surmising on here is one thing but doing is another. (Again, without interfering.)

Please pass on to Ms. Celmer’s family that there is a collective concern about her.

Fantastic news! I love good outcomes on WS as we tend to hear the opposite. My very best wishes for Ms. Celmer.

Now what happens? She was AWOL for six days leaving her classes unsupervised. Her principal had to get substitutes each day.

What would happen to a police officer who didn’t show up for over a week? Or the school janitor who decided to take a six day break?

Don’t misread this. I am happy that she is apparently all right and not dead in some river. But let’s see if there is a double standard.

I'm VERY glad she's been located, and I hope that whatever reason kept her missing for that amount of time can be dealt with appropriately.

I admit to being nosy as well. Did she just reappear again as if nothing had happened? Did police find her? What would cause someone to drop off the map for a week without telling anyone?

Unfortunately, it appears Ms. Celmer has disappeared again of her own accord. Her family is still looking for her though but in Vermont. See this news report: Authorities search for woman last seen in Burlington
Not much else out there. I’m sure she’ll turn up
when she’s ready if it’s a repeat of her last disappearance, which, hopefully it is.

Note that the news report says: NBC5 has also omitted information regarding Celmer's mental health at the request of the Burlington Police Department.

Why would you omit information about someone's mental health that could be helpful? She disappeared for a week in October in Maryland, then turns up in VT and has now been missing since Dec 21 and might be in Wisconsin.... with camping equipment.

It's not the best time of year for camping in either VT or WI, so.... yeah. This woman clearly needs help.

A couple of news reports now say that Deborah has a history of mental illness and may be a danger to herself (but not to others).
Police: Missing and 'endangered' Vermont woman may be in Milwaukee

Family says she's slept in the woods before and has no access to a vehicle. This is a far cry from her October disappearance, when she had a car. Not sure what's going on but I hope she's found safe.

Oh no... she is missing again? I really hope she is found quickly and can get the help she needs for whatever she is going through.

I realize she went missing in October but does she have a history of falling off the grid like this?
