Garrett is his middle name apparently, per the press release from LE
I figured that may end up being what it was, a middle name. Hopefully, the correct it soon. Thanks!

They went to his house and assaulted and killed him - I would think this merits second degree murder at the least! More than manslaughter JMHO I hope others are arrested as well for going to his house with the intent to harm a child!

Taylor, his nephew, one other adult and two other minors arrived at Wright's home in Baltimore's Brooklyn Park neighborhood, according to charging documents reviewed by CBS Baltimore. Taylor wanted his nephew to fight Wright's son, and threatened Wright when he did not comply.

Witnesses said that "it became clear to the Wright family that Trevor Taylor and his associates were not going to leave and were likely going to force their way into the house," CBS Baltimore reported.

"Although I am relieved that there has been progress in the investigation, we do not feel any relief in the grief that we have for the loss of Chris," Tracy Karopchinsky, Wright's fiance, told CBS Baltimore. "We grieve now all of the things that Chris will not be a part of. First days, last days, football games, graduations, and weddings. This is still the beginning of a long journey. Nothing that happens from this day forward can bring back Chris, and nothing can change what happened. As we navigate how to live life without a father, a partner, and a friend, we are continuously grateful for the support from family, friends, and the community."
Man arrested 2 months after fight killed Maryland father in front of his home

I'd like to know why the second adult who accompanied Taylor hasn't been charged as an accomplice or with mob action or at least something. But Taylor's arrest is a start, albeit an anticlimactic one. Agree with others who say the relatively minor charges were a gift to Taylor and the man should have faced other more serious charges.

When is this going to court? I hope it is televised. I'd like to get a good look at the cretin who thought marching down to Chris' house, showing off for those teenagers, was a great idea. Just a gristle brained bully, building his street cred. I wonder if his family is proud of him, coz he's such a Man!

Thinking about Christopher's family and how hard this first Christmas must have been for them. Still waiting to hear when the trial will happen

Just shaking my head -- as we all do when we "see" things like this. My wishes for strength for those who loved him.
Why, why, why?
Wondering if a plea deal will be offered...but certainly I'm not betting on it. Grrrrr and SMH.

First degree murder, IMO.

This case is so painful and if it's anything less than Murder 1, I'm deeply disappointed.

IMO

"Involuntary manslaughter" is what the state agreed to? Unreal.

Prosecutors, however, signaled their intent to request a five-year sentence for Taylor, according to a report by the Capital Gazette.

The defendant is slated to be sentenced on Oct. 25. The hearing will be overseen by Anne Arundel Circuit Judge Stacy McCormack.

Such a miscarriage of justice in my honest opinion!! These people were the aggressors from the beginning, and it left this family without a father. So sad!

Hold the ones you love close. Life is cheap, and the animals are running the zoo now.

why the delay until October for sentencing? Is that typical for the area to go 10 months from plea to sentencing??

That wouldn't be normal in my jurisdictions that I practice in. It usually only takes a few weeks to maybe a month and a half for a presentence report to be produced and reviewed by the court. I don't know what the delay is for.

That is what I am used to seeing in my area. a couple of months tops and that is on the long end for sentencing. I mean I realize that presentencing reports need to be prepared and filed, mitigators investigated and memorialized but sheesh 10 months seems an excessive amount of time to need to complete that process.

Anywho, thanks for your answer.

It's pathetic, imoo. Murdered the man in front of his own kids, and dude gets charged with INVOLUNTARY manslaughter. What a joke. If the shoe were on the other foot, murder charge for sure. SMH

This sentence has to be a joke. I am so disgusted with the corruption in our justice system it churns my stomach.
The perp attacked like a raging bull, I'd never trust him to be out on the street again, EVER.

I believe all the lawyers are out supporting their political parties for the next few months. They have to show up at all these rallies and fundraisers, you know! :p
