regarding the I-Pad, our school gives the kids I Pads from 6th grade up to use ( this started this year for all grades 6-12). I wonder if the I Pad was given by the school? Our kids have strict rules when using them and can get into trouble for downloading apps that are not school appropriate. They are also able to monitor. I wonder if they could monitor her I Pad and see if there is activity on it. IMO. I have not read anything about a backpack? Is there a description of a backpack? IMO

Hmm, well children are often in school on Veteran's Day, but of course some adults don't have work and it wouldn't be unusual for them to be driving to places they don't normally go on a regular weekday. It seemed significant to me that this happened on a holiday as opposed to a regular weekday.

Yes this could certainly be significant. If she was abducted by someone she met online he could have driven over to her town on the day he has off from work. She might have shared her daily routine, address, and photos with him so he just lay in wait to snatch her, or it could also be that they planned this together and she ran away with him.

This would indicate that he likely was from out of town and would mean that J is also likely not in the vicinity anymore. They could be anywhere by now.

How long would it take LE to comb through her xbox logs and other devices and narrow down their search to a few suspicious individuals she chatted with? I could imagine that this could take days but I do hope they are tracking down every person she talked to.

Wbal is reporting she was found safe in NC! That's a long way from home. Wish every case ended with "found safe"!

Any news??? Is this for sure? Praying praying praying this beautiful girl has been found SAFE! And is on her way back into her family's arms.
Regardless of how old she "looks", she is 12 years YOUNG. She is a little girl who has a full life ahead of her. A young girl who should be able to play on her Xbox - (of course with parental monitoring...) but should be able to be a young girl without seeing & knowing all that we, as adults, see & know. Things that we see & know - and take on as our responsibility to protect our children from... So that while they're young, they can be just that... CHILDREN. Sorry... Stepping off soapbox now.
Praying Praying Praying.

So happy that J has been found and will be reunited with her parents soon!!

I think there will be a lot more to this story because a 12 yr old just doesn't get to NC from MD on her own. Really, really, really hoping that I don't come back to her thread to find her name replaced by initials.

There's also many missing people who have gotten a tremendous amount of press coverage and they weren't in your categories for one reason or another. In fact, several of these cases received just as much attention as Jon Benet, Caylee, Natalie, etc. Here's a laundry list of people who are either:

Non-White
Not female
From an impoverished background
Not highly attractive

Hannah Graham
Jonathan Luna
Relisha Rudd
Chandra Levy
Teleka Patrick
Jessica Lunsford
Steven Stayner
Kyron Horman
Etan Patz
Adam Walsh
Johnny Gosch
Amber Hagerman
Mitrice Richardson
Ashley Pond & Miranda Gaddis
Megan Kanka
Trenton Duckett
Michelle McMullen
Somer Thompson
Samantha Runnion
Erica Pratt
Elizabeth Shoaf
Bianca Lebron
Ray Gricar
Jimmy Ryce
Cherish Perrywinkle
Katie Beers
Alexis Murphy
Shasta Groene
Jennifer Wilbanks
Rilya Wilson
Alexis Patterson
Shawn Hornbeck
Susan Cox Powell
Gina Dejseus
Jahi Turner
Polly Klaas
Amanda Berry
Stacy Peterson
Abigail Hernadez
Skylar Neese
Tabitha Tuders
Katelyn Beard
Karla Rodriquez
Carlesha Freeland-Gaither
Samantha Burns
Joseph Wetterling

We must have very different definitions of "tremendous" media coverage. Of all the names on your list, I have not heard of six cases, and for seventeen cases mentioned, I would not have known about them if I was not on WS and very interested in missing persons. Basically, I have never actually seen anything in the media about them. I would not have known about Jahi Turner, Erica Patterson, or Relisha Rudd if I did not read online comments by people asking why those cases are not as publicized as JonBenet and Caylee. Only Stacy Peterson, Chandra Levy, Adam Walsh, the Cleveland Three, and Polly Klaas are as well-known...Amber and Megan b/c of their laws....The rest were either only big stories in their state, or only a big national story for a week or two. Interestingly, Stacy, Chandra, Polly, and Megan were all attractive white females from middle-class backgrounds.

So do I. Cases like these strike cold fear in me, though my children are adults now. Where there is a positive outcome, it's exhilarating!

So relieved she has been found. :heartbeat:

The FBI was on the case and found the guy with her in NC. Sounds like they were using their computer sex crimes team. I hate to say it, but if she was with him for 3 days, I think the mods will have to eventually switch to her initials. I can't think of any innocent reason why he would have a 12 yr old missing girl in his home with him.

Thankfully she was found. Often, that is not the case. If you would like to make a huge difference for missing children, we need grid searchers for tomorrow. Details can be found here: Flyer_Before Flattened copy.jpgFlyer_Before Flattened copy.jpg

So glad she has been found and is alive. Katydid23 said what I was about to say^^. Waiting for news of an arrest. I hope J will get the help she needs.

Officials said that J was in the company of a North Carolina man believed to be in his 30s. Police said the suspect, whose identity has not been released, has been questioned and remains in custody of federal officers.
