Investigators are now questioning the man, but they say the girl has a history of communicating with men on social media and messaging apps.
Where is her supervision? A child this age should have someone watching her online communications, and if it's happened before, they're aware of it and should be super vigilant!!
Unfortunately, many parents make the mistake of allowing their kids to have their gaming consoles in their bedrooms. HUGE mistake. When you do that, you've essentially had a door installed in your kid's room to a world full of strangers, which includes predators, who are really really hoping that kid has a doorway in his or her bedroom where the parents can't see & hear what's going on.
Not to mention phones, ipods, tablets, laptops, etc. Same deal. While you have to teach them how to use these things safely and responsibly, you also have to set boundaries. Such as, at 8pm it goes off and gets plugged in to charge, in the living room, or the parent's bedroom. Gaming consoles, laptops, desktops, etc. should always be used in a common area of the house, such as the game room, kitchen, dining room, etc. NEVER the kid's room unless or until they've shown they do know how to use them safely and responsibly.
Parents have GOT to take this seriously, because the predators out there are REALLY hoping they don't. And in many cases, they're getting exactly what they hoped for.
