I’m so sorry about this terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with those who died, the injured and everyone involved.

Ugh. I remember when that happened. This guy seems seriously disturbed. I can’t believe he went to the lengths of injuring his fingertips so he wouldn’t be id’d. He probably got that from TV.
And if he really believed that would prevent the cops from IDing him, he's even dumber than I originally thought. All the cops would have to do (if all else failed) is release his mugshot to the local TV broadcasters and ask viewers who recognize him to contact LE. That might've helped Kevin Spacey's character from Se7en evade LE for a while... but that guy was a total recluse with zero connections to his victims. This guy worked for a government business and had numerous, legally documented connections with that particular news outlet. One of their employees surely would have recognized him, I would think.

It varies

Normal common shotguns typically hold 5 or 6 shells.

Some single shot shotguns hold one shell.

Double barrel shotguns usually hold 2 shells and some can fire both shells at same time.

Special shotguns can have a magazine with a larger limit like this one that has a 12 shot magazine.

https://www.brownells.com/magazines...nes/saiga-12-12-round-magazine-prod41070.aspx

Lots of shotguns have a plug in them that limits to 3 shells because of hunting regulations. The plugs can be manually removed.

Normal shotguns usually are either semi-automatic or a manual pump action to get the next shell into the chamber

Most shotguns would not be fully automatic unless someone modifies one somehow. But another way
that a shotgun can be converted to shoot almost like a fully automatic is with those "bump stocks" that we have heard about before. There are videos of people that have done that on shotguns.

I sure dont want to get you angry with me!

Thanks for the updated info!

No worries! You're welcome.

It's the nature of huge breaking news events like this one. Things get updated and corrected. I'll look for the recording of the press briefing. The officer looked confused when a reporter asked him about it. LOL

I can tell you every journalist reading about this tragedy is both sick to his or her stomach and immensely proud of the hardworking people swallowing tears and putting aside their grief to continue to do their jobs — and put out a damn paper tomorrow.

Powerful and true.

I was pulling photos from the shooting today and found this one: two of the @capgaznews journalists working on tomorrow's paper in a parking lot while they waited to hear whether their colleagues were alive or dead. Journalists, man. I have tears in my eyes.

Veteran journalist Rob Hiaasen among dead in attack on paper

In a brief phone call with The Associated Press, Carl Hiaasen said his family "was devastated beyond words" by the senseless killing of his brother at The Capital Gazette.

"He was the most remarkable person. So gifted and talented and dedicated to journalism," he said, his voice choked with emotion.

So sorry for the Hiassen family and all those mourning. I've a huge fan of CH's novels.

Capital Gazette shooting suspect Jarrod W. Ramos, 38, filed a defamation lawsuit against the paper and a columnist in 2012.

In 2012, Ramos filed a defamation lawsuit against the paper and a columnist over a July 2011 story that covered a criminal harassment case against him.

He brought the suit against the columnist, Eric Hartley, naming Capital Gazette Communications and Thomas Marquardt, the paper’s former editor and publisher, as defendants.

Twitter page in Ramos’ name on Thursday featured Hartley’s picture as its avatar, and a banner image included photographs of Marquardt and the Capital’s former owner Philip Merrill.

Dear reader: I created this page to defend myself. Now I'm suing the s--- out of half of AA County and making corpses of corrupt careers and corporate entities.”

The account regularly commented on Anne Arundel County news and referenced a deadly shooting at French newspaper in 2015.

moments before the Capital shooting — the account posted a message that read: “F--- you, leave me alone.”

Sources identify suspect in Annapolis Capital shooting as Jarrod Ramos, who had long-running feud with paper
