We have riots over here every summer when its marching season. Police use plastic bullets, water cannons and armoured tanks. It works for us I wonder would it work there.

The cops used rubber bullets tonight. But they don'y use water cannons because of the civil rights advocates ---reminds them too much of the old days.

We also use armoured tanks. But sometimes they just let the people run wild and get it over with, I suppose.

such a sad nite - had to turn it off when the senior community center was in flames. amazing how they hit 2 of the more recent improvements.

joe scarborough/msnbc just said in his opening monologue that there was a reporter/commentator that was accused by some of inciting things - hope he expands on that 'cause i have a guess.

That was a low income housing center for seniors. And now it is GONE. That disgusts me that they would burn that down. I can understand the logic of burning down liquor stores, as if protesting their redundant existence in the neighborhoods. But a senior citizen low income housing development? What possible reason to burn that down?

Because they can.

Perhaps the same has happened with the "ug word" and African Americans. I never thought about it until just now.

I think we are supposed to use the word "teens". Pretty much everyone knows what it means when "teens" are misbehaving/rioting especially when quotes are used. That term also appears to be widely favored by African Americans at least in the MSM.

And that center was built to care for and house their grandparents and if it were still standing eventually for them.

Seems to be a disconnect between the Mayor and the Governor. One would think the Mayor would be in contact with the Governor and be ready. Ready for anything. I feel for all those affected but to have LE and responders out there as sitting ducks was asinine. How could she not suspect this could/would turn into a riot. What a sad situation. So much of this destruction could have been avoided if resources were in place.

Video of young Asian family (with a baby) being rescued from their apartment above a liquor store that had been set on fire. I suspect that this family owned the liquor store that was earlier looted by rioters. Very sad to see the terrified reaction of this family that has probably lost everything that they have worked hard for :(

That made me cry:(

Did the Governor and Mayor of Baltimore ever hear of a little place called Ferguson? FGS, give those who want to destroy room to do so? Send LE out there as sitting ducks? Hold back the NG? What the hell is wrong with these people!?!! Can't impose a curfew without warning? Really? Really? Where's the warning for the homes and businesses being looted and set on fire? Where's the warning for LE and FD before these rioting, looting lowlife, dirtbags start pelting them with rocks, bricks, and whatever else they can get their hands on?
Declare martial law, let the NG take over, use the freaking fire hoses! I know, I know , it's a civil rights violation but screw it. LE and FD need some protection out there. The rioters aren't worried about anyone else's rights!
Tired of hearing certain groups are oppressed, can't get jobs, picked on, blah, blah, blah. How many of their own neighbors did they put out of work just last night? Burning down your own community will really show people!! SMDH
Sorry for the long rant but I am just so damn angry right now!! These rioters seem to only understand violence . Time to stomp these things out with a show a force early on. Enough is enough!

From my above link:

While they are angry about what happened to Gray, his family said riots are not the answer.

"I think the violence is wrong," Gray's twin sister, Fredericka Gray, said late Monday. "I don't like it at all."

The attorney for Gray's family, Billy Murphy, said the family had hoped to organize a peace march later in the week.

If many of us WSers knew this was going to happen, I'm not sure why TPTB didn't know this was going to happen.

And as far as fire hoses go--the heck with them. I'd start shooting.

Spray from a firehouse can cover a larger area at once. Katy is right, it would be a civil rights violation but at this point I don't care. It may just save some of baltimore, and lives.

Is it just me or does a curfew seem silly ? I mean I get the point is they can arrest anyone out after 10 pm. But it seems if people are willing to assault police officers and commit arson and theft, then a curfew is like jaywalking, right? I guess we'll see what tonight holds.
Anyone have an update on the LEO's , specifically the unresponsive one ? tia

The Baltimore Police Department responded to a rumor that one of the officers was in grave condition, tweeting: “THIS IS NOT TRUE.”

Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said he visited the six seriously injured cops in a hospital trauma center. “I told them how proud I was of them and how courageous they were,” he said.
