Folks, I will say it is OK to discuss that info as a theory presented at another site. Please be very careful in how you post information. The last thing we at WS want to do is present information that is not fact as fact. You are welcome to discuss theories as theories..... It was stated (as a theory) that perhaps people that DB trusted would have stolen items from the apt that may have been worth some value or importance or that maybe DB owed someone something. Also, it was mentioned about human trafficking by a person on MSM. Human trafficking stuff is kind of underground isn't it? I don't know much about that. It just doesn't appear that (DB herself) was into that type of activity. Maybe she knew that someone else was into (certain) activity. Maybe DB wanted certain people away from the apt because of that reason. Yet, I can't see the human trafficking part at all. DB knew her baby sis was coming to visit and wanted to keep PB as safe as possible. Does anyone know the area where DB lived the last time PB came to visit? What would make this apt and visit time so different from the past? Theories and opinions.

No confirmation, but for some reason I assumed it. My bad. Did a quick google of "Phylicia Barnes AND computer" but came up with little. I noted a couple of MSM articles which referred to it as her computer (and that LE were going over it and her social networking accounts/communications), but of course... MSM, particularly on the internet, is often a game of telephone.

Can anyone here recall whether it has been stated, by LE or in interviews with the family, as to whose computer PB used while in Baltimore?

I have to admit, it's one of my favorite shows of all time and throughout this case I have struggled with impressions of Baltimore created by watching the show. My first thought was: check abandoned buildings and see if anyone connected purchased or has lye. :/ Too much tv.

I can't call that either. I wondered whose laptop it was. Now I'm trying to figure out, did MJ have his own personal comp and perhaps DB had a laptop or notebook? If PB snuck on MJ's comp, that might make him mad if he had something to hide. After all, I don't think PB knew MJ was returning, but, MJ says that PB was getting out of the shower when he arrived. What do you think? Maybe PB jumped on MJ's comp, left a page open that she pulled up, rushed to get into the shower, then, MJ returns and see his property had been tampered with? Didn't let PB know right away that he knew. Maybe MJ went snooping through PB's phone.

I watched it a couple of times. I watch first 48 hrs more. I don't know too much about the wire.

What about a theory of a friend, who knows a friend, that tows cars.

I am listening to the first Peas interview again. BB talks about PB's computer on there, and I'll report what he says.

ETA This is what BB said:
“My sister’s computer was still open, and Phylicia’s email was still open. All she had were emails from colleges. I checked Spam, Outbox, everything. There was nothing but positive stuff.
The only thing she does is Skype. My sister had her skype password, and the only people who were on her list were her friends. My sister went through and talked to all the people on her skype, and they were all in NC. Nothing suspicious."

Now, I am not sure exactly who BB is referring to, when he says "my sister's computer". However, throughout the interview, he refers to DB as "my sister" and PB as "Phylicia" or "her" or "she". This would make sense, for a brother who has a sister he's known all his life, and a half-sister who he met recently. It would be natural to differentiate like that, and call DB "my" sister.
So, I would assume that the computer PB was using was DB's.

Speaking of human trafficking and the posts about boats and the Chesapeake Bay, there are many ways to get someone out of the area other. Baltimore is a HUGE port and has cargo/container ships coming and going all the time.

From doing this research for this thread, now you guys have me rethinking my theory that she's no longer alive (which is still my first theory but now doubt is creeping in). I do think it's possible that human trafficking could be involved here, but MJ/LBC/whoever would have to have those connections already in place. I think if friends were involved in something like this, it would have to be friends already experienced in human trafficking and not just some buddies he enlisted to help him. That would be too risky, IMO, and someone would eventually tell someone or crack under pressure -- unless, they are already involved in this business and are 'professional' traffickers. And I just don't think that's the case here.

Right - I agree. But anything PB could have snooped and found was also something DB or KB or any of their friends could have snooped and found, kwim? It doesn't seem to me that PB would have any more FB connections to MJ's friends (or girlfriends) than DB or KB would.

So other than PB perhaps being the first one to actually verify to DB that the picture did exist, I don't think it's something only PB would have been able to find and probably would have been just a matter of time before either DB herself or KB or a friend found it as well.

That's why, even though it's an interesting twist, I'm not so sure it was the catalyst for DB's disappearance per se. I think that's what I'm trying to say - make sense?

I guess it is just an age thing. My nieces are 29 and 27. My youngest kid is 18. She knows much more about navigating and snooping on FB than my nieces do. Teens were literally weaned on FB and MS. She knows shortcuts and tricks and has more interest in it as well. So I would think she would be able to find things that DB couldnt. And if PB used DB's password she would have access to all of the same friends and contacts as DB would.

I know that it sounds like a lame excuse for violence--Facebook. But statistically there has been a huge surge of divorces based upon info first found on social network sites. It is like neighborhood gossip brought right to your front door and verified by pix and messages.

I am not convinced that it was the reason, but I do think it may have been the trigger for a huge fight. If MJ was counting on staying there, and wanted to be back with DB, he might have been very mad to find out that PB conspired against him that morning. Here he is, being forced to move his things out of HIS apartment, and this 16 yr old is stretched out on his couch.

My son is 22. Thank goodness he has a new and very wonderful gf for the past year. But his longtimne high school romance was filled with drama. And the antagonist seemed to be a 'best friend' of his ex. She used to spread rumors about him and at the same time act nice to his face, yet behind his back try to get her to dump him. It made him so angry. I thought he was going to punch that girl one time he was so very frustrated. My point is, first loves, which they were, are often filled with drama. And I think PB got thrown into the middle of a very volatile situation and innocently stepped on some toes.

I just finished reading the NG transcript. Based on the wording used, it sounds as though perhaps DB had found out about this photograph's existence (by someone else who came across it?), knew what page it was on, and asked PB to confirm its existence.

But I have my doubts that anyone would take this particular teen from that apt. for underground trafficking. From what I have seen/heard, MOST targets are runaways with little support systems to be able to find them and fight for them. And they usually tend to take girls who have already run away and are using drugs/alcohol.

PB had a very strong family presence, which was known to the people who hung out in that apt. They also knew she had LE family members and a mother who is a mama Grizzly. Besides that, PB is very strong, intelligent and healthy and would be a very hard
girl to successfully 'break down.' I just don't think they would choose her when there are so very many candidates already lost on the streets for them to sweep up, and they would avoid all of the MSM and LE pressure now on them.

A couple of things I gleaned from listening to the first Peas interview again.
RB starts out talking about PB's two older sisters, DB and SS. He does not mention KB at all. And then, after going on about how PB is bonded to DB, looks up to her, calls her "Deen" and wants to dress like her and talk like her, he mentions that PB has another sister in Bmore, KB. That struck me as odd, to mention SS, who lives in NC and is not even related to DB or RB for that matter. Except perhaps when RB and JS were together as a family, perhaps SS was living with them? Dunno. Just odd to me.

BB is a fire fighter, and had been at the station for 3 hours when DB called him at about 6:30. Db thought PB might be with BB, because PB had wanted to get a tour of the fire house and stuff.

BB left for DB's house soon after DB's call, and got to DB's around 8:30. The station is in another part of MD, so it was a drive.
LE was at DB's when BB arrived.

BB says temps were 15 degrees that night.

RB first heard from DB btween 6-7 MD time.
RB arrived in Bmore Wednesday afternoon (the 29th).

I agree with you, although researching the human trafficking did get me thinking about it a little more. I really do think she's no longer alive, sad to say...

I think some others on here may think human trafficking is involved, and I do recall LE saying early on that she may have been taken "out of the state", which is odd - instead of just out of the Baltimore area, kwim? Almost as if they had reason to believe that, specifically. So I do think, that even though I personally think it's unlikely, it is a plausible theory.

Belimom, thank you for all your sleuthing on trafficking via water. Great job!
I was thinking about the water and fishing for several reasons.

First, the trafficking angle. PB is so beautiful, and I can see her being targeted for that reason. But I can't see how she got TO the traffickers. And why.

Second, body disposal. If someone was going to the park to go fishing, how convenient would it be to dump a body. that would explain the "tip" that led to the search of P.Park. This shows me that LE is following the social networking stuff, perhaps. But, how likely is it that the body would still be under water, this time of year?

Third, accidental drowning. Say she went out with them, dropped her phone in the water (rendering it useless) and fell overboard and disappeared. Okay, VERY far fetched. I discard this option.

That's something that I would like to know as well, especially given LE's phrase "out of state". If they just thought that she wasn't in Baltimore, then they would have just said that, kwim? But to say "out of state" really stood out to me.... (ETA: especially since I'm one state over... )

So what we have is, someone (at) the apt tried to make advances at PB, to the point that it made PB feel uncomfortable.

MJ began, or had already started moving out his belongings from the apt.

MJ did not come over on one particular day before PB came up missing.

LBC spends the night (it was also stated that someone may have been living there) as well as MJ (at) the time MJ was still living at apt. I say MJ was still living there if his belongings were still there and I think he probably still had (a) key. Even if he got an extra made or something.

MJ comes to pick up LBC in the morning. Leaves whatever time.

MJ returns within an hour or so. PB is getting out of the shower.

MJ, I thought he mentioned that while PB was on FB, PB was (sitting on the couch) when he sees a blue/white screen on the laptop. Perhaps someone here can confirm that.

MJ says that PB also began communicating on the phone with DB and I guess KB as well; shortly after getting on the laptop/comp. And PB also was whipping her hair up as if she was going somewhere.

MJ did say at one point and time, when he was located in another area of the apt or some where close enough, he heard PB tell one of her sisters, "yeah, he here, he doing laundry".

MJ said he and PB even spoke some about x-mas and other things
But before 1pm, PB's sisters lost contact with PB.

MJ states that between 1-1:30pm PB was right back on the couch sleep and mumbled (she was going to get something to eat in a while) not quoted.

Throughout the day, It was MJ who reported all of PB's activity. Can someone confirm the allegedly 5pm text where MJ says PB is up and active?

I think MJ went back to the apt at 4:50pm because he knew KB got off at 1:30-ish. So if KB stopped by and saw MJ acting normal, he could easily say, "what, PB not with you KB? I haven't seen PB since 1:30". But being that KB allegedly didn't show up, it put that time frame in the clear for MJ.

Only 2 people were running in and out the apt that day was MJ and LBC.

If PB rushed out the apt in FEAR with no one behind her, she would get on the phone right away to call her family and plead for help. Poor reception is not an excuse for inside the apt when everyone was accustomed to how things work in there. No one had issues with their phones that morning. No one complained about poor reception.

MJ used laundry for a distraction or reason for being there, along with moving some of his personal belongings. That's the only 2 ways he could have gotten PB out that apt or either he may have pulled out a mean nasty gun.

So, why is MJ's name mentioned so often. The center of this very day and...he leads the show on that day.
