Fox45 Reporter: From the time of her daughter's disappearance in late December, Phylicia Barnes' mother had doubts about the people who surrounded her teenage daughter here in Baltimore.

She especially doubted 28 year old Deena Barnes, Phylicia's half sister and Deena's boyfriend. Michael Johnson was one of the last people to see Phylicia alive.

JS: She is not telling everything that she knows!!!

Reporter: Now multiple search warrants, obtained by FBI agents that center around child and the exploitation of a child, suggest more was happening before Barnes' disappearance.

Unamed Expert: They're trying to gather every possible piece of information they can about any associates, friends, relatives, people of interest.

Reporter: Agents are searching several email accounts and Facebook pages for clues. Some belong to Phylicia, others to members of the Johnson family.

Reporter: Parties close to this case confirm there are sexually explicit images and videos of 16 year old Phylicia Barnes. Some captured on cell phones. A former federal prosecutor says if that's true that is certainly enough probable cause to obtain these recent search warrants.

Unamed Expert: And they're hoping that out all of the information they get, that some of that information may be relevant to try and figure out what happened to Phylicia Barnes.

Reporter: For those who helped search for the teen this recent news brings with it more questions.

Guardian Angel Dent?: It doesn't make sense to me. It just does not make sense.

Reporter: Though the warrants could lead to child charges, the real goal, observers say is to find a killer.

Interestingly enough, this party's face is not blurred and it's reported that Michael Johnson is her/was her BOYFRIEND, not "ex."

The guilty have reason to be nervous as HE77 right now, if they've been so delusional as to think that life will go on with Phylicia's murder being "forgotten," they are being rudely awakened. GOOD!!

TY Falconi for the transcription and additional case doc links. While the one needs a membership, which I don't have, it is good to have posted so anyone who wishes to become a member has access to the case docs.

I know the following may be a stretch, but with the allegations of child - distribution of child and sexual exploitation of a child(ren) it is concerning DB has access to pharmecuticals by way of her employment.

It sickens me that the men DB and KB chose to socialize with are now alleged to have been involved with child , the distribution of child and sexual exploitation of children.

And we wondered early on in this case why a bunch of mid to late twenty something year olds would be interested in partying with a 16 year old. I guess we now know why..... :furious:

I need to do some research on bodies found in rivers and whether or not they are usually found clothed if they have been in the water for sometime. I know a great many bodies found in Lake MI are still clothed after being in the water for months. I'm not familiar with enough cases of human remans found in rivers to know if it is common for the elements and conditions to have caused their clothing to be removed due to the elements.

ETA: Does anyone know? Is anyone familiar enough with bodies being recovered from rivers after being in the water for months are usually clothed or not? Especially when they would have been dressed in full winter clothing including a winter coat. I just don't see how ALL of PB's clothing could have come off as a result of being in the water. I'd expect the clothing would show damage/decomp due to the elements. Those questions lead me to believe PB was placed in the water nude and her clothing disposed of or destroyed in some way, perhaps burnt to eliminate any evidence.

I watched a few episodes of FBI: Criminal Pursuit on Investigation Discovery yesterday. It's an excellent program that follows the investigation from beginning to end and interviews all of the officers, FBI agents, some family, etc. I watched the Baby Grace episode (OMG, I'm still beyond horrified at the 'mother's' videotaped confession).

Anyway, one of the seasoned FBI agents for difficult cases mentioned that women are more likely to place their victims in water. I thought that was interesting.

That said, I am SO glad there is some movement in Phylicia's case.

An FBI agent with Maryland's child exploitation task force filed three search warrants seeking access to the 16-year-old's email and Facebook accounts and the accounts of at least three other people.

It's unclear whether a sex crime was committed. The warrant's affidavits are under seal, but a former FBI official told the Observer that the agency must have probable cause that exploitation occurred in order to secure the warrants.

"This is not a shotgun approach of putting out search warrants to see if it hits something," said Chris Swecker, who once headed the FBI in North Carolina and later led all the agency's worldwide criminal investigations. "This is a focused investigation. They're pulling on a string. And that string is child exploitation."

I've only lurked on this thread as it's too hard for me to read. It hits far too close to home. We lost a daughter to sex trafficking at age 19. We believe that it actually began much earlier, however, right under our noses and that of her case workers and special ed teachers. She has an IQ of 63 but is a beautiful young black woman who had very low self esteem. She is known to be a victim of torture and extremely aberrant sexual practices, involving elimination . She trusted everyone and would do anything anyone asked, for attention. She officially disappeared in May 2008 (seen by neighbors getting into an expensive Lexus sedan with three older black men) and has an open case with the Sacramento office of the FBI. The Polaris Project has also been helpful. To this day, I believe that someone she met through her high school "transition" program started her down this path. It was like she lived in two alternative realities. She volunteered at a nursing home, sang with the city choir and was tremendously loving with animals and children.

After she was taken, we learned that all this was a chimera. We are an exceptionally protective family and the only "free time" this young lady had was when she was working on independence skills related to her transition class. She was taught to use the bus system and taught how to set up a MS page and a cell phone (when she left, we learned that she had seven phones and that she used a number of different names). While she was supposed to be volunteering, she was found to have been traveling up and down the I-5 corridor working the motels and casinos. Co-workers came forward after she was taken to report that she literally walked in the front door of the nursing home and right out the back into a waiting luxury car. Police tracked her actions by cell phone. She certainly didn't know how to drive. She doesn't even know the days of the week or the months of the year. I don't know if we'll ever see our daughter again. We do know that she has a number of serious health problems due to her work as we still get hospital bills. Her procurer was just convicted of attempted murder but as far as we can tell, our daughter is still "working". I live in fear, thinking about what "retirement" looks like. Sadly, by the time we get the bills, she's moved on. LE has picked her up a number of times but because she's an adult, she's free to go. This is an ongoing problem for young men and women with developmental disabilities. The procurers (very typically young women) specifically prey on them and if they are over 18, they have the legal right to make their own choices.

The only way we know our daughter's been picked up is that kind LEOs will give us a call when they ask her to write something down. They immediately pick up on the fact that she's disabled. The tragedy of sex trafficking is so much larger than most people realize. It's certainly not occurring in just the large cities. It's everywhere.

Missizzy your story has really touched my heart. I am about to cry just reading it. I will definitely keep you and your family in my prayers. I have 4 daughters and they have taken me through a lot. If not for the grace of God, I don't know where they or I would be.

Was it ever determined if MJ actually did work nights? I ask because I was quite surprised that he was able to function all day "moving" on that fateful day that beautiful Phylicia was kidnapped. Could it have been a ruse so that he could sleep with not-so-new girlfriend at night w/o raising DB's suspicions?

IIRC MJ did work nights and was reported to have arrived at the apartment the morning Phylicia disappeared and after her half sister left for work in the morning. (all from the find pb facebook group since removed).
