This morning we spoke to her former theater coach and close family friend Charles Patterson.

He said he feels a sense of relief, but not closure, after hearing that Michael Johnson, Barnes' sister's ex-boyfriend, was arrested and is the primary suspect.

"There is something deeply wrong about him," he said. "He's a sociopath, psychopath, and killer."

The Baltimore State's Attorney's Office said authorities will speak about the arrest at a 1 p.m. news conference at city police headquarters.

Justice always comes calling... eventually! I am hopeful today for the first time in a long time that Johnson will finally be held accountable. I also believe that his family knows more and possibly even helped

Catching up on my emails, I was reading the daily summary from 04/24/12 & I was so saddened about the detective being suspended. When I looked down & saw 2 more pages of posts, I just assumed they were about the detective.....You can't imagine how happy I felt reading that those 2 extra pages were for an arrest!

"Movement in the 16-month-old case came as the lead investigator in Baltimore, Detective Daniel T. Nicholson IV, was suspended on allegations that he improperly used his position to investigate his own daughter's disappearance last weekend. The teenager was later found unharmed, but city police have launched a broad probe into Nicholson's conduct and whether other departmental resources were used in his search."

This makes me feel way more sympathetic towards the suspended lead detective. Obviously what he did was inappropriate, but...

Good afternoon. we wanted to make an announcement, a Baltimore grand jury indicted Michael Johnson, 1 count, first degree murder.

Many of you know, Phylicia, then 16, came here to visit her sister. mJ was the last person to see her alive. the body was found in the river in Hartford county on 04/11/2011.

Mr. Johnson was arrested and taken into custody last evening w/o incident. Bail hearing will be set, maybe/likely tomorrow, but not sure.

This case is textbook case for collaberation and cooperation by all agencies involved, the BPD, entire homicide division, Maryland state police, etc.
