The investigation is still ongoing and they cannot discuss everything.
Three weeks ago, on Rachel's birthday, investigators uncovered a lead. Related to DNA evidence, it allowed them to put a name to his image from Los Angeles. They still didn't know where he was at that time. At some point, they received information on his possible location in Tulsa and then LE obtained an arrest warrant yesterday afternoon. They were actively looking for him when he was arrested at a storefront for trespassing and identified in the course of that encounter with police.
The family was updated yesterday that his identity was known but asked to keep it a secret.
Five hours after meeting with family, Tulsa OK police located and arrested Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez. The suspect is a native of El Salvador who crossed the border in 2023.
This suspect fled to the US illegally after murdering a young woman in El Salvador a month earlier.
A 9 year old girl and her mother were attacked in Los Angeles in the case linked to this one.
This case would not be solved without the teamwork from local, state, and federal partners. They also worked with El Salvadoran authorities.
Rachel's mother will deliver some remarks.

Victor Martinez-Hernandez has been arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the August murder of Rachel Morin.

That mother and daughter, how traumatized. He must have been interrupted or weed have two more casualties. This man is deadly.

Sherriff said, there will never be closure. I agree. Personally I do not like that word. I prefer resolution.
