I believe she genuinely has severe mental health issues. But it is possible for someone to have these diagnoses and also be competent enough to manipulate and malinger. Let's assume she is malingering to some degree.

How has she been able to keep it up for 9 years?

Ya-Hoo! Never thought I'd see the day! She's been hiding all these years under a cloak of (alleged) mental illness. She murdered those children to hurt her husband! (In my opinion) I know she had mental illness/personality disorder, but she did not take her medication. She was angry because her husband wanted to divorce her.

Hoggle appeared in court Monday afternoon for a bail review hearing, but the judge agreed to postpone the proceeding until Tuesday after her attorney raised a scheduling conflict and accused prosecutors of seeking “to try this case in the press.”

Hoggle appeared in court Monday via video conference from jail and answered a few basic questions. Her mother and other family members watched from the courtroom gallery, including the children’s father, Troy Turner, whose shirt was emblazoned with a message seeking justice for Sarah and Jacob.

Turner declined to comment Monday, but he told the AP in 2014 that Hoggle had started showing signs of psychosis and was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. He later claimed she was feigning incompetency.

The judge denied the gag order, saying the case has already been in the news.

After the hearing, Felsen told reporters that Catherine Hoggle was arrested and held at gunpoint while still civilly committed — though at the time she’d been released from Perkins and was somewhere else. He said she was also interviewed by police again.

He maintained he was not notified in advance of her arrest and said he does not believe there is any new evidence against her. Court documents say police had “round-the-clock surveillance” on Hoggle following her release from Perkins.

For the first time today, Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy revealed what he believes may be the strongest evidence that Catherine Hoggle killed her children 11 years ago.He told a judge that Hoggle confessed to an acquaintance that she “strangled her kids.”McCarthy also told the court of a chilling drawing he attributed to Hoggle: “We found her purse and also a drawing, and it appeared to be a drawing of children being thrown into a trash can.”The comments came during a bond review hearing Tuesday for Hoggle, who was arrested last week on a new two-count murder indictment. The judge ordered Hoggle held without bond, ruling she is a danger to the community as her surviving child and is also a flight risk
