Izzy I think our dear fhc read the little guy was safe. I can't be positive so I'll check again. Nana would probably be the fiance to this guy as she has quite a few grands.

There's got to be something to the death of the wife and then the sister and a baby. That or this guy has bad luck which befalls people around him. I'd be worried he lived in kentucky and other places. I mean you so just don't grab a child and drive off and then beat her and strangle her and hit her with a rock. Come on now. This can't be a first.

"A massive manhunt for 44-year-old Stephen Westfall, who is wanted for kidnapping and assault of a 6-year-old Cumberland girl Thursday, continued Monday with investigators following up on possible sightings being reported by the public...."

"Police have since determined the identity of the boy who was in the suspect vehicle. “That child was not a victim of the suspect’s and is safe at home at this time,” said a C3I spokesman...."

and

"Police ask anyone who may have information on Westfall’s whereabouts to call their nearest police agency, Cumberland Police or the Bureau of Police at 301-777-1600 or the C3I Unit at 301-777-0326.

A cash reward of $1,500 is being offered by Allegany & Mineral County Crime Solvers for information that leads to Westfall’s arrest. Callers may remain anonymous and do not have to appear in court.

Does anyone have access to Hagerstown archives? This is very interesting and there must have been at least one news article that talks about the deaths, given that they are just 12 days apart.

From the obit linked above for a woman, with the initials MWG, age 60 who died May 19, 2007--bottom of the page:

"She was preceded in death by one grandson, JR; and two sisters, PB and LJB Westfall."

I believe this would be Westfall's sister-in-law. So, three relatively young women and an infant died connected to this guy.

Search for city kidnapping suspect continues

The manhunt entered its fifth day Tuesday with involvement of numerous state and county authorities in Maryland and nearby West Virginia. Assistance has also been provided by the FBI.

Westfall is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. He has short, graying hair, wears eyeglasses and has tattoos of two hearts on his right arm, the Grim Reaper on his left arm and a joker on his back. Officers have also learned that Westfall is missing both upper front teeth. When last seen leaving the South End area on foot Saturday, Westfall was wearing light-colored shirt and shorts and tennis shoes.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call C3I at 301-777-0326; Cumberland Police or the Allegany County Bureau of Police, 301-777-1600; or Maryland State Police, 301-729-2101.

Honestly I don't think this guy would kill himself. I really don't. Then again I'm not a good judge of charachter like that. One would think he'd have done it immediately when he knew he was busted. Who knows? Scary to think he's out there though.

Nothing new to report this morning other than the search has gone national and Westfall is missing two front teeth. The only reason I can think of that this description was not reported earlier would be that they got knocked out in a scuffle with the six year old. Could that be?

LOL! Wouldn't that be shame Actually, I watched a video of him on a news site where he was interviewed for receiving an award for writing a poem (that wasn't even his) and in the interview you can tell by watching him speak that he was missing some teeth there.
