TOWSON, MD—Human remains found in a Baltimore County wooded area in 1996 have been identified as those of a 20-year-old mother who disappeared 12 years earlier, the Baltimore County Police Department announced on Thursday. The woman, whose identity had been unknown for more than 29 years and was only known as “Falls Road Jane Doe,” was identified as Leoria Smith.

Police urged anyone who may have known Smith or who has photographs of her to contact them at 410-887-3943.
It doesn't seem like they have any photos of her.

I am so glad that Leoria has her name back. This was one of the very first UID cases that I learned about around 14 years ago. It's sad to hear that she likely lost her life shortly after what should have been the start of a beautiful chapter of her life (starting her 20s) and that her daughter grew up having no clue what happened to her mother.

I hope that her identification brings about some justice if she was indeed the victim of a crime, since if that's the case, there is a good chance (statistically-speaking) that she knew the person responsible. RIP, Leoria; your life mattered.
