It would be nice to have more information from his relatives. I personally believe he is Dan Cooper aka DB Cooper (the height is off, but that happens sometimes) and that he perished in the woods in Washington State in November 1971. Does he have any military or criminal records? His DNA should be sent to the FBI to see if it matches the partial DNA that they do have.

You know I didn’t know enough about DB Cooper until I read this. It’s definitely possible. Attached picture of my Grandfather William Henry “Buddy” Ellis and sketch of DB Cooper.

I agree that he looks just like the D.B.Cooper sketch and the timelines match as well but Ellis was only 5'6 and Cooper was 5'10 to 6'1 tall. That is a major height difference so I think we can rule him out as a D.B.Cooper suspect.

I went through the NamUs database and Canada's missing persons database, and I could find only one person who has the same very distinctive eyes as the Teaneck, NJ Unidentified: William Henry Ellis. It is my opinion that both men share the same forehead, eye brows, eyes, cheeks, smile lines, upper lip, lip width, and I suspect the chin as well. However, Ellis appears to have a very different nasal bone and a tattoo which I will discuss next.

Between January 24-26, 1970, William Henry Ellis and two to three other men allegedly burglarized the Citizens National Bank in Martinsburg, WV for $85,000 ($677,000 today), making it "the largest of its type in West Virginia in recent years." At some point, Ellis surrendered to the FBI in Baltimore, MD, and was charged with the bank burglary, as well as the theft of a large number of color television sets from another incident. However, Ellis disappeared in June of 1971 while free on bond, and the money was never recovered.

With the money, I suspect Ellis could have had rhinoplasty, had his tattoo removed, and also styled his hair curly to appear different. The UID's eyebrows appear oddly light (shaved/stubble?) while listed as having black hair. The height is off by 3 inches but only requires both estimators to be off by 1.5 inches.

I suspect that his ears would have had to have surgical work as well. I seen a better photo of the UID, and the eyebrows look trimmed (not shaved and now showing stubble).
