ME ME - Ayla Reynolds, 20 mnths, Waterville, 17 December 2011 - # 1

My daughter took off running at 10 months, skipped the walking.

I am so lost on all of this, and I live in the state. Its really cold now, it was so nice a week ago. I read somewhere that a child of that age might not be aware of the cold and would o outside without a jacket unless the parent puts it on. Now why would she go outside in the middle of the night.. I highly doubt it. Now comes the question, if she did get outside, did someone hit her by car? We have seen it in the news, toddler crawls outside, friends leave, and back over child. I am gettin so many cases confused since most take place in middle of the night.

Do we know if the mom ever lived in the same residence? Would / could she have had a key?
If the sole reason for her disappearance (secreted away with father's family b/c he was afraid to lose her) he could have jumped ship with her and hidden away.
Maybe tonight I can get caught up on this case.

Just finished catching up on the thread and the Facebook page. One comment that stood out on the family's page that was linked unthread, was a woman stating she was very close to the situation, defending the mother. She stated something to the effect that Ayla had not spoken to her mother in 10 days bc the father would not let her. Not sure, what that is worth, but it is curious. You may choose to disregard this as rumor though, since I cannot confirm this woman's relationship to the parents.

Also, the mother's demeanor doesn't seem odd to me, but then I am from the area originally and I have met a lot of young moms ike her. I am totally hypothesizing here, all moo, but the moms that I know that she reminds me of, have had a difficult life, have made many bad decisions, do not always have the most stable upbringing themselves and when faced with tragedy, find it comforting to get mad instead of weepy. I think she is looking at this from the view of, "see they took my kid away bc they said I was unfit, who's the unfit parent now?" This does not mean that she is in any way responsible for Ayla's disappearance or that she doesn't love her daughter as much as we love our kids. Again, moo....

They said they did not notice that she was gone until ,I think, 8:30 or 9. I wonder if anyone in the house was up earlier than that. Would they have noticed if the baby was up walking around at 6 or 7 ?

Can someone clarify the differences between the different types of splints, slings, or casts? What exactly is it that Ayla had?

IMO, it is most likely a broken clavicle because she has a soft "something or other" on her forearm. Many docs won't even put a broken clavicle into a sling in toddlers because the kiddos won't leave it on. Regardless of whether it is immobilized, it will still heal. Broken clavicles are given an arm sling to help reduce pain.

Massey has asked the public for assistance and urged anyone with information about the case to contact the Waterville Police Department at (207) 680-4700.

"We need more than just us," he told reporters. "We need the help of the general public out there."

The Waterville Police Department declined to respond to inquiries from The Huffington Post on Monday morning. A press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m.

I just can't see a toddler her age getting very far wearing pajamas in Maine, in December.

I am not trying to judge anyone, and I haven't been a situation that can allow me to empathize...

but....

who leaves their child with someone and can't make contact with them for 10-days?
i am pretty sure i would get into a car on day 2 and drive to where my child was and demand my child right then and there.

has dad confirmed he hasn't spoken to mom in that time? did mom really attempt to contact Ayla? (I know this won't have an answer.)

I thought the same thing with Bianca... unless the mother of Ayla was given limited visitation, then the father could refuse phone calls until time of scheduled visit. I've done the same (although, in my situation, I am the adoptive mother).

•Two planes have been intermittently overhead all morning. A search boat entered Messalonskee Stream around 10 AM, searching the right side for miles, then turning around and searching the left side. Warden told me the process is deliberate and detailed.

Yes...I had to read it about 12 or six times the gist of it to get myself. lol

But yes...Ayla Reynolds...her mother Trista...and Ayla's maternal grandmother (I think anyway!)
