The chief runs through the different involved police agencies and how they are helping.

75 officers dedicated to the investigation today.

Started following public leads, thanks for those, and each is being followed aggressively.

One of the largest rooms in city hall is devoted to being a call center for now.

Todays search was expanded from yesterday, including the river, because that was logical. It is still ongoing with 25 wardens from the warden's service.

Still approaching from every thought and angle. Still a very open case. Following evidence and investigation to the logical end. No conclusions right now. They don't want to miss anything in the investigation. They are following leads and looking at all possibilities.

Family is very cooperative. All interactions have been positive.

Public input is important and some leads have been very encouraging.

The investigation will be driven by leads, and investigation, as well as evidence.

All resources are going into bringing Ayla home, they are still very optimistic, but nothing is off the table.

I'm not able to catch the Q and A, sound is too low, but there seems to be alot that the chief is not willing to discuss at this point with the reporters.

Reiterating to the public to call in with anything no matter the relevance.

Me thinks he want friends and associate's of both sides to call in with info of anything

I missed the presser, but thanks to those who updated us.

With the two cars being towed, anyone have any idea why? is it protocol?

  • #351
Why tow the cars? This makes me think about the earlier reports that LE were searching the home with dogs and were paying close attention to the garage.

Right, so I try to think back on other cases, and wonder if this had happened, or if there is more of a reason in this case.

Also could want to search the cars with more detailed forensic applications since the FBI are on board.

Hopefully some nerves are getting rattled

Maybe they were having a Christmas celebration that night. With drinking, others would know about, and "someone" took the baby. I think this is athefirst case in a long time, that I believe the baby is alive and somewhere else. I can't remember every feeling this way towards any case, without a doubt.

I am feeling pretty good about her being alive also.

That's right. They are working hard on finding anything, and are really stepping up and doing not only a great job, but the right way also.

reported here that Mom had custody until October of this year when child was removed by CPS and given to dad.

Investigators say the child injured her arm during a fall about three weeks ago.

Reynolds lived with her mother, Trista Reynolds, and her grandmother in Portland until the toddler was removed from their custody by the state's Department of Health and Human Services in October, the girl's maternal grandparents told the Kennebec Journal.

So within two months of dad being given primary custody this child has received a broken arm and been kidnapped?

Hink meter is screaming here
.

BBM
Exactly and mine's screaming too!

Good morning all,

I really hope that this is not one more case where one of the parents is responsible for whatever bad thing happened to one of their children!!

Just hypothetically...do you think that mom would go to the trouble of filing for custody, only to abduct her own child 1 day later? (I don't know how much trouble it really is; just something that came to mind.)

I believe it possible that she filed for custody and yet still abducted her own child IF she had reason to believe she had no chance of GETTING custody. Filing is a world away from 'getting'.

ETA: Not saying that's what I think happened, just that I believe it 'could' happen under those circumstances.

IMO, I have to give props to all the LE involved in the recent missing child cases, Sky, Bianca, Ayla. I think that they are all doing a fabulous, meticulous job, even if they seem to moving too slow for my liking. I want resolution, but I also want the children to come home and justice to be served. I think every cop in the country watched the CA debacle and said, "no way, not on my watch!"

I am wondering why Ayla was removed from her mother but the other child wasn't? I believe that the brother isn't from the same father as Ayla so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.
