Interesting, upthread it was posted he moved back to the family home in which he grew up in.

I wonder if it was sold then the family bought it back in 1998?

That post is what made me go look...the "family home" bit...

The one above references that the canine team found no sign of her, logically that would tell someone that there was no scent to follow.

Two search dogs, one from the Warden Service and one from Maine State Police, were at the house where she lives for much of the day Sunday.
http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/search-continues_2011-12-18.html

It's very likely she didn't have to be told that they found no scent of her. If they had, they would have followed that scent and you can assume there would be something on the news about it. Even if I hadn't been told, it would be clear to me, just from the articles. I just hope they are using the right kind of dogs, because that is always something I wonder about.

Thank you for the links. They both say pretty much what I have been reading already. I guess I was hoping that somewhere they had come right out and said they found no scent leaving the home. That seemed to me to be what Ayla's mom meant she was told, by her statement in the video, imo. I could be wrong though.

Hi All...First time to post. I have actually been lurking on Websleuths for several years but have never posted. But after reading that yet another little one is missing I just can not stay quiet any longer. This so breaks my heart especially so close to Christmas. Praying that she is alive and fine.

With so many children disappearing in the middle of the night or walking out the door do parents no longer buy the plastic things to put on door knobs for child safety that even a grown adult can have problems opening the door. We had them so that our daughters couldn't open the doors. They come in a pack of 2 or 3 for barely anything at any store.

Sorry for my out burst on this very simple act of prevention. Just tired of all these poor babies being taken.

I agree with you completely. I am so tired of seeing toddlers going missing --every day it seems. And you do nt know if they wandered off or were abducted, or even harmed by their parent or Mom's boyfriend.

oh, and :welcome::fireworks:

Lots of tid bits starting to surface, especially the one of Justins mom living there. I didn't know that is that new?

Also, they aren't allowed back in the house and it's up to the people that live there?

I don't understand that statement.

Who owns the house ? Do we know that?

Thanks for transcribing askfornina!

The mother says that the father was being difficult with the visits. I hope it wasn't because there were signs of abuse she couldn't be allowed to see.

But it seems odd that he would not even let the mom talk to Ayla on the phone. What reason would he have to prevent that, other than pettiness?

some important info from PC transcribed:

Q: The father, Justin Dipietro, he lives at 29 Violette with his mother, correct?
A: Yes.
Q: Okay, is he still in the area as far as you know, or is he...?
A: I'm not sure of his whereabouts at this time, I'm not sure if he is continued there or moved someplace else.

I am questioning the answers here. Wouldn't someone had already confirmed that JD was currently living there and not somewhere else. Or could he have another place that no one really knew abt and moved Ayla there to keep the mother from finding her. Just thinking out loud here.

How can LE say the parents are co-operating if they don't even know the dad's location.

The search of a river this morning in Waterville, Maine, failed to turn up any traces of 20-month-old Ayla Reynolds.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/missing-maine-toddler-river-search-reveals/story?id=15186552#.Tu-tLZjN7zJ

This article mentions soft cast on arm also. There is a type of cast that allows some movement which is called a "soft cast", so maybe this was on her forearm. She may have only had a sprain or strain, but I can't see adding an arm sling (unlikely to wear a sling). ??

http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediaw...6EVs6E666666--&fn=SoftCast_UK_GH169_A4_4p.pdf

My daughter had one on for her elbow which I heard is a very common break for kids. It happens when you put your arm out to catch yourself the tendons are stronger then the bone and will break the bone when they falls like this. My daughter's was just a floating chip. With adults the same injury would break the tendon. The soft cast was put on at the hospital and kept on for 2 weeks. Then they put the regular cast on for 4 weeks. I'm not saying this is what kind of break she had but they do use them for more then just the wrist area.

http://orthopedics.about.com/od/brokenbones/a/avulsion.htm

Also the second question about the sling. My daughter had to wear a sling with the soft cast and the regular cast to keep it mobile. Never to sleep though...

you're welcome, as far as that statement is concerned, i think he means it's up to the detectives working at the house as to when the family will be allowed back.

that answer from the chief was really strangely worded, i don't think he meant that they don't know where the dad is period at all whatsoever, just that he doesn't know where he is living at this current time while the house is under control of the police department. he was careful to stress that both parents have been cooperative, i don't think he would be saying that if they couldn't find the father.

Thank you for clarifying. That makes more sense.

Maybe it is true that neither parent has a "permanent" address after all, from how it is sounding?

How many cases are there right now where LE seems to be unable to figure anything out when the parens claim a child is abducted? Thinking of Sky, Aliyah, Lisa, Haleigh, Bianca, now Ayla...I have no clue what happened to Ayla but IMO the adult(s) who was last in charge of the child needs to be made very uncomfortable until the child is found or a confession is obtained. The way it is being done isn't working...most of the adults seem to carry on with their lives and LE seems completely helpless. Again just IMO and hoping this case will be different.

Both my kids used to get bruises at this age. It is kind of normal for toddlers to have bumps and bruises if they are active. I wonder if this is all deflection from mom's family. She was the one who lost custody for substance abuse issues, so Pot?kettle?Black, perhaps.

Oh, wow. This really moved me. What really touched me was that mom's "greatest fear" was for Ayla - (paraphrasing) that she is cold & alone with no one to help her - not some self-centered b.s. like I've heard recently (other cases, not from someone in this case) about how the interviewee feels like LE and media are too focused on him/her (wah, wah, wah). Maybe I am out of line or just wrong, but when I hear that, it tells me that the person's first concern is him/herself, and I view all the emotions they show as a reflection of that. (Eg., tears aren't for the child, but for the feelings of regret, or fear that they will be found out.) In contrast, this woman seems like this is all about her baby. She's upset that she can't help search, she's frustrated that she can't do something, but she's not focused on "poor me." Even when she was complaining that she wasn't allowed to help search, she ended by thanking someone who was searching. I really, really like that.

She was in rehab, no? I was sure I read that somewhere, and now I cannot find it.
