Missing Maine Girl's Relatives Feared for Her

Relatives of a woman whose toddler is the subject of an intensive search said Monday that they feared for the girl's safety while she was staying with her father, who was caring for the child when she disappeared.

Whitney Raynor, her mother's stepsister, said Monday that welfare agents had placed Ayla with her father in November while the mother was in rehab for substance abuse. The girl had bruises after being in her father's care, Raynor said, in addition to a broken arm three weeks ago.

"Our biggest fear is that he lost his temper and something happened. We're trying not to think about that, but in the back of our minds it's our biggest fear," Raynor said from Portland, where Ayla's mother, Trista Reynolds, lives.

Spokesman Steve McCausland of the Maine Department of Public Safety said police learned of the girl's cast on her arm from either DiPietro or guests at his home Friday night. A message left with Massey wasn't immediately returned.

The one above references that the canine team found no sign of her, logically that would tell someone that there was no scent to follow.

Two search dogs, one from the Warden Service and one from Maine State Police, were at the house where she lives for much of the day Sunday.

It's very likely she didn't have to be told that they found no scent of her. If they had, they would have followed that scent and you can assume there would be something on the news about it. Even if I hadn't been told, it would be clear to me, just from the articles. I just hope they are using the right kind of dogs, because that is always something I wonder about.

Where the he77 is this baby??? :furious: It just makes me soooo mad to come back here after being gone all day and once again we have a child missing and one parent is not talking...WHERE IS SHE? The dogs haven't picked up a scent of her leaving??? WHAT DID YOU PEOPLE DO TO HER?

Mom's FB has 33 friends. Lists her as graduating class of 2006. Set to private except the info I've listed. Her friends list is public and some of those profiles are set to private. Some aren't.

I'm listing this information because someone upthread was wondering how a house that was last bought in 1998 could be dad's childhood home. Assuming he is close to the same age as the mom, this would have made him 8 at the time of the purchase. That would be mean a childhood home to me.

Hope I didn't break any rules regarding social media. If I did, mods please remove this post.

You know, that is one of the most accurate and detailed articles I've seen in a long time. And it comes from the other side of the country, wish reporting everywhere would take the time to get it right!

I was watching local news and they reported something so askew on the case I almost called.

Well, IMO based on what I know now, props to TR for going to rehab. Again, based on what I know about rehab (from work), I know that for a lot of people "rehab" is a joke because of how some celebrities use the word, but it is not an easy thing. It's hard physically obviously, but also many people don't have a life situation where they can "check out" of work or whatever for the time it takes to go thru rehab without making major sacrifices.

JVM on HLN covering Ayla right now ...

  • #455
Ad on HLN now, via rentadrone, the home Ayla disappeared from is still the focus of the investigation. I think it's JVM, but not sure because there's a major lag of the graphics behind audio for me.

LOL I don't think so, I was about to post this when I read your post.

OK now, I am looking forward to hearing the interview with mom on NG tonight. JVM played a little of that, but I guess I will save my comments/ questions about it until the actual interview on NG's show.
