Missed the Q. - but Alexis (dunno who this is really) - says that dad & everyone else is a suspect. (Me - sigh. That's not really helpful but thanks, Alexis.) Other (female) guest says that that sounds reasonable to her, esp since dad's custody was a recent development. Peter Odom (?) said he agreed, and that basically no one thinks that this was a stranger abduction.

Local news guy - Reiterating that neither parent has been rptd to take or been asked to take a polygraph, that LE is treating this more like an abduction than "something that justin did" (?). Stressing that Ayla wouldn't have been able to open door even if it was unlocked because of cast, per police, because she would've only been able to use one hand (left - no word on which is her dominant hand).

Ellie - talking re: M. stream search & warden flying over it. She doesn't know specifically why this stream is being searched.

Ken - talking re: how friggin cold it is. (My paraphrase obviously.) Says the M stream is about 50 yd behind father's house.

Mom - reiterates that Ayla wouldn't walk that far (50 yd) or even wander outside, unless s/o was w/her.

I'm just having a difficult time with there being an attic bedroom in that house. The pitch of the roof just doesn't allow for it. I don't see any sign of a window or even a vent. I could be wrong but the roof is awfully low.

I wish there was more info about Ayla's father ...

He has given NO interviews and made NO pleas for his daughter's return ...

BUT has there been any info out there on the father's "background" ?

Now ... I don't want to do anything wrong here with regards to the TOS ... :innocent: So ... do we have to wait for the media to "dig it up" -- that is IF IF there is anything that needs to be looked at ? KWIM ?

IMO ... the group here at WS would have that info in a "flash" ...:great:

MOO ...

Yup, and yup. And yup again.

At this point both JD and TR are family of a victim and are off-limits for sleuthing.

I would hope that any sleuther who came up with a potential lead would immediately inform Waterville LE, and wait for direction from them.

And I would hope that this would help lead us to Ayla!

Caller from IA asking about why JD & TR are separated, hx of domestic abuse, etc.

TR says they were never in any serious relationship, just "mutual friends". No DV.

E-question (?) re: bone specialist. Mom said that a B.S. examined her when bone was broken.
My guess: The child was referred to a pediatric orthopedist probably for liability reasons and perhaps because of suspected abuse unless she was originally checked at a nearby children's hospital where the orthopedist would be a pediatric orthopedist. (A "regular" orthopedist could have treated the injury, but with these issues, it was referred to a pediatric specialist.)

Bone specialist could also just refer to an orthopedist.

Thank You ...

And not long after I posted my question, Ellie on NG's Show said that the parents have no criminal backgrounds ...

Bear in mind, some children at 20 months, don't have a dominant hand yet. They may have a hand that they favor slightly, but until they begin writing and doing lots of hand specific fine motor, they sometimes just don't pick one.

I so agree with Marc K.- a houseful of people and no one checks on two babies in all that time...changes the whole complexion of the case for him when he heard there was another child in the room...

Ken - Stream has fairly fast-moving water in it.

Ellie - Police are searching banks & flying overhead; unknown if divers brought in.

Someone else - Doesn't sound good, afraid they are gonna talk re cadaver dogs next

[....?! missed a few, eep]

MK - Fact that there was a/o child in BR makes story worse, (my paraphrase) why on earth were there 2 babies in there & no one check on them for 13 hrs.

Posted earlier..."Dad" in the middle flanked by officers...Also, going back to my question posted on page 2 or 3 - When was the last verified sighting of Ayla besides his family members??????????????

I want to know this as well. Missing Drs Appts and not letting mom talk to her daughter for ten days. Maybe Ayla wasn't in any condition to be seen or talk. This baby could have been gone days or weeks before she was missing.

I'm very interested in what the neighbor heard that morning.

Search for Ayla Reynolds in Waterville, Maine continues with no sight of toddler
12/19/2011 5:08 PM

Authorities today searched a stream near the house where a 20-month-old child from Waterville, Maine went missing on Friday.

“She remains missing,” McCausland said. “The search is being concentrated on the Messalonskee Stream.”

A Maine Warden Service plane flew over the stream today to search the area, he said.

McCausland said the stream is “rapid flowing” and “very close to the house.”

Does anyone know where the
Messalonskee Stream
flows and does it connect to any other bodies of water?

I thought it was interesting that one of the neighbors (?? - I think) said that the cousin was the only child that she was used to seeing outside, to the point that when she heard a child went missing, she thought it was the cousin. I don't know what to make of that. (I will have to listen again to JVM & NG, I don't remember exactly where I heard that, and in any case it's hearsay. But I'm sure that's what I heard.)

Messalonskee Stream flows through one of the most populous sections of Maine. Its banks pass a remarkable variety of landscapes, from residential homes, pastures and fields, a deep and narrow gorge, the neighborhoods of Waterville and a remarkably scenic
junction with the Kennebec at a long rapids called Petty’s Rips.

The removal of the Edwards Dam in 1999 in Augusta has reconnected the lowermost mile of Messalonskee Stream to the ocean.

Whitney Raynor, her mother's stepsister, said Monday that welfare agents had placed Ayla with her father in November while the mother was in rehab for substance abuse. The girl had bruises after being in her father's care, Raynor said, in addition to a broken arm three weeks ago.

"Our biggest fear is that he lost his temper and something happened. We're trying not to think about that, but in the back of our minds it's our biggest fear," Raynor said from Portland, where Ayla's mother, Trista Reynolds, lives.

Is dad known for having a bad temper?
