I would like to know more about daddy's girlfriend, if it is true that he had one. Would she be angry that her bf had to move away from her and move in with his mom because of his baby? Was she perhaps jealous of little Ayla?

I too have given the above a lot of thought. Was wondering the same thing.

Nancy Grace:

Right now: Cops scouring dumpsters for 20-mo-old tot girl snatched from own bed. This as state police & forensic units swarm missing tot dad's home & seize his SUV. Are cops any closer to finding Baby Ayla? And exclusive tonight: Missing tot's grandmother breaks her silence, takes your calls!

While the other vehicle belonging to a "girlfriend" has not been confirmed, it sounds like a safe guess to me...still, wish HLN would not state things they can't back up. Doesn't help in a case with virtually nothing coming from LE.

The only thing that scares me more than I already was for Ayla is the petition for paternity determination...if the father caught wind of that and had reason to believe that Ayla wasn't his...That, to me, is terrifying.

FWIW - If the father is not listed on the birth certificate, she must have the state determine paternity in order to receive child support, etc. This could just be a paperwork technicality.

She was in rehab for a whole 10 DAYS???

I think my head might explode
MOO MOOO MOO

Wow, bet she got lots of coping skills in 10 days . . . NOT! Have we been privy to why she was in Rehab? And only there for 10 days (was it inpatient? is there a link somewhere I've missed?)

1 hour 18 mins
74.2 mi

from Portland to Waterville. We know the address of the father, do we have the address of the motel where the mother is "living"?

"Trista Reynolds, was in rehab for substance abuse, according to Reynolds' stepsister, Whitney Raynor. "

I swear I just read somewhere she had said from drinking...

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/12/21/se ... -reynolds/

Trista Reynolds told The Associated Press that she and DiPietro never lived together as a couple. But Reynolds said a drinking problem prompted her to enter rehabilitation in Lewiston for 10 days in October; she said that although her mother and older sister cared for Ayla during that time, child welfare agents intervened to place the girl with DiPietro.

another presser today, right? In about 1/2 hour?

Why would CPS intervene if it was just a 10 day stay? I would think the red tape would take longer than the rehab stay.

I was just thinking the same thing, katydid23! First someone would actually have to notify CPS of the situation, then there would be paperwork that needed to be filed, possibly an investigation, etc. Plus what if there was a weekend or 2 in that time frame (though I know that CPS may work weekends in an emergency situation) Just doesn't seem like enough time for a CPS placement.

Does anyone know if there has been any confiscation or review of cell phones by all those adults that were in the home?

I think it is easily long enough but they thought Ayla was in pretty imminent danger and moved fast to take her away and place her with the dad.

If it was just a slight suspicion then there would be a longer investigation

imo

Glad to hear authorities are draining a pond near the child's home. Too bad that wasn't done for Caylee Anthony!

I agree, that it was long enough IF there was something obvious and blatant that forced an immediate change of residence for the child. But normally, 10 days would not require a change of custody for a custodial parent. imoo

Perhaps there were some obvious issues in the mom's immediate family that required the change.

Someone had to report something to CPS... someone who knew the family, another family member or perhaps a medical professional who had treated Ayla for something. It also doesn't make sense they would take one child from the family's care and not both. If they took both children from the mother it could be they looked to place them with the grandmother but she couldn't keep two children for some reason so they then looked to the next closest relative to place one of them with, being the father.

It could also be the grandmother didn't have the required space for 2 children. I am currently keeping my 11 month old granddaughter who was taken from my daughter by CPS. They came to my house and did a home study to make sure I not only had a suitable, clean home but that I had space for her to sleep.

That actually makes sense, could of been a space issue (lack thereof) that caused CPS to get involved. Someone still had to report that I would think.
