Nancy Grace:

Right now: Cops scouring dumpsters for 20-mo-old tot girl snatched from own bed. This as state police & forensic units swarm missing tot dad's home & seize his SUV. Are cops any closer to finding Baby Ayla? And exclusive tonight: Missing tot's grandmother breaks her silence, takes your calls!

"Missing tot's grandmother breaks her silence, takes your calls!"

Could this be the paternal grandmother, since TR's mom already has spoken?
I am very interested, if so!

Trista's brother was on JVM saying that Ayla's dad would not 'bring Ayla home to her mom.' So my question is, after 2 months went by, why didn't she go there herself, with an LE escort, and retrieve her child. Something tells me that she did not have sole legal custody, or I think she would have done that.

And didn't she say earlier that she had asked him to MOVE HOME with his mother so he could care for Ayla. Why would he move home and uproot himself just for a 10 day period of time?

that was posted 23 hours ago, and NG had the maternal grandmother on last night as you probably know, so i don't think so :( i'd be very interested too.

I am wondering how long Trista was in rehab, and could this be the reason why Trista wasn't able to go to court and get the paperwork started to get custody of Ayla.

I also like to know if Justin actually has official child custody paperwork.

  • #385
Thinking out loud, it appears that Trista had Ayla for like 18 months, so does this mean she had official child custody papers or could this just be an arrangement that she and Justin had outside of court?

  • #386
OMG, this reporter on HLN keeps saying that the police said that it was "the first they've heard about that." when asked if Trista requested to search but was denied. he's making it sound like the police denied that she ever asked!

that isn't what the police chief said! he said that he didn't have any personal knowledge about that, it would be up to the search coordinator. (paraphrased, actual quote upthread)

I read up thread it was 10 days for alcohol.

Not sure though.

Me too on the second question

Reynolds and her older sister, Jessica, were staying in a hotel Tuesday to keep away from the media frenzy.
"I'm watching my sister fall to pieces," Jessica Reynolds said. "I don't think she has any tears left to cry."
Trista Reynolds told The Associated Press that she and DiPietro never lived together as a couple. But Reynolds said a drinking problem prompted her to enter rehabilitation in Lewiston for 10 days in October; she said that although her mother and older sister cared for Ayla during that time, child welfare agents intervened to place the girl with DiPietro.

He might have had to stay with mom to have someone take care of her while he's at work, even if it was for ten days?

People who have substance abuse problems, which she apparently does, or did, do not always act like we would normally expect imo. Sometimes they are not eager to involve the police in their business.

I might be wrong but I don't think LE can *tell* anyone not to speak to media.

They can ask them not to share certain things but they can't tell anyone not to speak to media...but again I could be wrong...just throwing that out there, not directed at anyone :)

That would make sense to me..First Amendment, etc.:waitasec:

LE may probably only STRONGLY SUGGEST not to talk to the media.

IIRC: Trista stated that she would allow Ayla to live with Justin (while she was in Rehab) if he moved back to his mother's house in Waterville. Prior to this he was living in Portland.

I will go find the link - thanks, askfornia

TR:I thought by me letting her go with her father and by me keeping her there for as long as she has been that it was the safest place for her to be because I knew that I wasn't able to take care of her but now I'm so wrong.
Like, since she's been there she got a broken arm, she's ended up missing, you know what I mean, and I wasn't trying to be secretive by going to the courts. I just, I didn't want to fight with him anymore. Like, me and her father have been fighting constantly and just..I didn't want to fight no more. I was tired of getting my hopes up that my daughter was going to get to come spend the night or even a weekend with me. And then when he wouldn't show with her..you know what I mean? Like..

TR: The agreement was, was that if he took Ayla, if I let him take care of Ayla for the time being, for me to get back on my feet, he had to live with his mother because I thought it would have been the safest place for her to be. And..I was wrong.

:waitasec: 10 days for rehab for alcohol?

I would think maybe 30 days, but 10 days seems a bit short to rehab someone abusing alcohol.

I wonder if she left rehab early!

I was picturing a scenario where someone (LE) explained to the person that for whatever reason, their job (searching for Ayla and bringing her home) could be hindered if that person talked to the media, either at all or about certain things.

More pictures of the search going up here:

I had actually presumed that the "woman's" vehicle might belong to a "woman" that lived at the house.
If a vehicle was used to commit a crime it is totally reasonable to think that one person living at the house could have used a vehicle owned by another person living at the house.

Justin's mother lives there and I believe his sister, with her baby as well?
I thought it might be one of those two women who owned the vehicle in question. :twocents:

Seeing snow in the search pix gives me the shivers in more ways than one!:coldout:

I am wondering if the father kept the baby away because of things that happened when mom was drinking.

Current weather conditions include sleet--it looks and even feels like rain, but take a step outside and risk going catty-whompus. The article below is about an area about 45 min south of Portland, but the roads are seriously treacherous through at least the mid-state. Everything covered in a very thin veneer of ice.

It also brings up another question for me. At first we were told that CPS took the baby BECAUSE Mom was going into rehab. But ten days? That makes me wonder if maybe CPS took the baby because of Mom's drinking issues, and not because she was in rehab.

There are various rehab programs. Choices made often depend on insurance coverage (or lack of).
Some programs offer approx. 3 day detox only, some offer longer inpatient 4 days to 30 days to months.
Some offer outpatient half or full day .
There are probably even more variations than these. But, I think the money issue is a major concern, as is the severity of the addiction.

I still don't feel that Trista had anything to do with Ayla's disappearance.

With regards to rehab and alcohol, I do hope that whatever treatment she received it has helped her.

I sure would like more in-depth information on how Justin got Ayla from Trista's sister via DHF etc., etc., but then, it wouldn't really matter because Ayla did disappear under Justin's watch.

My thoughts are all over the place.
