I'm actually a little surprised they are able to forensically search the place without a warrant. I'm not sure what that tells me about the father.

I am hoping for a happy ending for Ayla, that she is found safe and sound for Christmas. While we've had a couple of "happy endings" lately, hope is all I have left for this precious Angel.

So many posts, so little time to read lately, so THANK YOU all for your sleuthing.

Hi all! I'm new to this case and I've read everything that I can find, but I'm very, very confused by the mother's statements:

Code:
[I]TIRSTA REYNOLDS: Because he`s vindictive. He`s very verbally abusive towards me and anything that I say or do, he refuses to let me see my daughter, he`s refused to let me talk to her. I mean, he has never, like, once since he`s had her, since October 17th, had let me have her for one single day. So, I decided that it was time to do this the legal way and let a judge say who this child should be with. And my daughter does deserve to be with me. I`m the one who`s raised her for 18 months. [/I]
I thought the CPS intervention was in November, but whatever. That's all too murky for me to even comprehend, what with their "agreement" and all. Anyway... mom says he won't let her see Ayla. but...

GRACE: I want to go right now -- OK, hold on, I`m getting another question -- OK, another caller has another question, Trista, about a bone specialist. Did the baby see a bone specialist when she broke her arm?

TIRSTA REYNOLDS: Yes, we took her to Maine orthopedics, right in Portland.

I thought the broken arm incident happened after or during rehab? In other words, during the time in which Ms. Reynolds claims to have had no contact with Ayla. Yet "we" took her to the Dr., right here in Portland?

TRISTA REYNOLDS: A few weeks ago, Justin had given me a call and said that he was holding Ayla and they fell up, like, two or three little steps, and he fell on top of her and her arm was broken. And he waited over -- almost 24 hours to bring her to the emergency room.
I want -- I want reasons -- I want to know reasons to why -- why do you wait almost 24 hours to bring a child to -- he himself told me she screamed bloody murder when they fell, so you wait almost 24 hours to go have her checked out?
She claims this incident was a few weeks ago, during the timeframe in which she claims to have been out of contact with Ayla.

And then there is this...

TIRSTA REYNOLDS: Someone just said that -- it was said that Ayla had her own bedroom at her father`s house. She does not have her own bedroom. She sleeps in the same room with her cousin, who is, I think, two months younger than her. So, if -- so why wasn`t she taken? If my daughter went missing, why didn`t her cousin -- you know, at least make a noise or scream or be taken as well.

GRACE: So you`re telling me that, Trista, that there would have been somebody else sleeping in the room with her?

TIRSTA REYNOLDS: Yes! Like, I`ve been to that house myself, and I have been in the bedroom to where Ayla sleeps, and she sleeps in the same exact room as Justin`s sister`s little girl. (BBM)

No comment on that right now.

I'm not saying that Ms. Reynolds had anything to do with anything, but from where I'm sitting she's not doing herself any favors with her inconsistencies.

Ayla's mother
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/45775493#45775493

It appears Ayla's mother is in Waterville for this interview.

This was a good video. I learn she has been sober for 3 months. Also the reporter said the mom had not seen Ayla for a month. Also I feel the mom did much better during this interview and did not point at the father. Also the mom stated that they had communicated before, how did would check on Ayla before bed, so why not this night. I have a feeling, drinking did happen that night.... Soooooo where is she.

Also, at the end of the video, mom thanked people for looking. I really can't say I have every seen it done that way, it just seem so sincere. Hard to explain I guess.

Day 7 in the search for #AylaReynolds. Ayla's mother has organized a vigil in Portland tonight at 4:30.

I missed this tweet from about an hour ago!

I'm so glad that mom is on scene. I couldn't imagine being far away while all of this was going on and perhaps she didn't have the resources originally, but I'm glad she found a way. It seems in every single case, there rare inconsistencies and/or undisclosed info which confuses the issue for us, but I'm really not concerned that WE don't have all pertinent and/or exact info as long as LE does. My heart breaks for this beautiful baby girl and goes out to her family at this time. Mom pulls at my heart strings...mom to mom!

I wonder if the second unaccounted person in the home that night was the boyfriend of the sister. I also wonder where the heck is this gorgeous little angel!!!!

Sending thoughts and prayers to Ayla for some Christmas magic!

The couple inches of snow on the ground are causing the search to be scaled back somewhat. The wardens are still going to search today, but more on a targetted basis, as directed by detectives.

Also, there will be no presser today. (I have wondered when they would stop the daily pressers. They can't continue them forever.) THey will be releasing a written statement instead today.

I've heard that the dad moved back to the house, and that this house is Justin's mother house. Trista may be very familiar with this house and probably knows that room and who else lives there on a regular basis. She may not have seen Ayla in the time frame that she has mentioned. Taking Ayla to the doctor may not be the same as having a day visit with her daughter. JMO

I'm not saying that Ms. Reynolds had anything to do with anything, but from where I'm sitting she's not doing herself any favors with her inconsistencies.

--i don't see that she has inconsistancies in when she last saw ayla.

--she went into rehab for 10 days in oct. DHHS placed ayla w/ JD on Oct.17th. ( it's media that has said rehab was Nov.)

--she says she last saw ayla "about a month ago"--sounds like that was when they took her to the bone specialist @ maine orthopedics,( seperate from him taking her to the ER )-- ayla broke her arm "about 3 weeks ago" from the date she went missing on Dec.17, so, late November

--as for seeing the bedroom ayla sleeps in, JD began showing an interest in ayla in June ( coming home w/ bruises etc. ) she could have seen the bedroom in that June-Oct. timeframe when he had her then

--she has said that she hasn't spoken to JD since ayla went missing Dec.17, not that she hadn't spoken to him at all since he's had ayla from Oct.17th until then

Actually, she said she hadn't talked with JD in two weeks BEFORE Ayla went missing because they weren't getting along. Can't remember the video, but the link has been posted up thread. JD stated that he did talk to Trista and LE has those "transcripts". I'm thinking texts.

I'm actually a little surprised they are able to forensically search the place without a warrant. I'm not sure what that tells me about the father.

I'm not sure what that tells me about LE... especially if the father has NOT gotten an attorney.
If they find something in that house, most good defense attorneys would argue that this father didn't understand the implications of letting them search.
They should have gotten a warrant even if he consented... they almost always do. Just look at other cases...

Doesn't sound like LE is really communicating with her at all. When asked about why CPS came and gave the father custody, her answer was 'CPS violated my rights'.

There is more to the story here.

Well, if what we know so far is true... without her statements, only paperwork... I'm inclined to agree with her.

Ayla has HER last name.
That likely means Justin is not on the birth certificate.
That likely means Justin didn't declare paternity at birth.
That likely means Justin is NOT legally Ayla's father.
Mom had filed for a judgment of paternity... if he was legally already Ayla's father that wouldn't be needed.

Taking a child away from confirmed maternal family members and giving them to an "alleged" father is ridiculous.
EVEN if both the mother and the alleged father claim he is the father. You don't go on their testimony alone.

Look at Caylee as an example. At one point Jesse and Casey both agreed he was her father. He wasn't.
That happens a lot... both the guy and Mom believe he is the father but it's proven he's not.

Without Justin legally being declared Ayla's father or DNA proving it, she shouldn't have been handed over to him.

What if Justin isn't Ayla's father and both adults in this case are wrong about that?
Then CPS just took this child away from her maternal family and gave her to a "family friend."
I hope there IS more to this story... otherwise CPS screwed up, big time. :twocents:

Thanks for the welcome, and the different perspective. So, if I understand correctly, according to Trista, Justin broke off all contact between Ayla and her mother about a month ago? And that he refused to let Trista have unsupervised visitation since October, is that correct? Do we know why any of that happened?

The only reason that I quoted that Trista had been in the house was to show that, yes, she had been in the house and knew where Ayla slept. For sleuthing purposes, I think it's important to establish who did and didn't know the layout of the home.

Thanks again for the comments!
