Augusta Maine Police Department

Elizabeth A. Munster, 37, was last seen by her family at a Park in Augusta last Sunday. Since then her phone has been turned off and her Facebook page remained inactive. Police say the last time she was seen by anyone was July 31st.

Munster is 5’2”, around 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She has also been known as Elizabeth Perkins.

Police say it could take several days to identify a body they discovered Thursday afternoon on Weeks Mills Road.

“We have been told this may continue to take several more days,” Deputy Chief Kevin Lully said in an email Friday night.

To me, it sounds as if the body is in a state of decomposition that makes it challenging to identify through visual means. I am guessing LE is using things like DNA and/or dental records. So, this then makes me think that it might fit Liz because she has been missing since July. I imagine with the heat of summer that a body would decompose quickly.

I am so sorry to Liz's loved ones who are anxiously waiting for news. I cannot imagine how they must feel.

I hope that whomever the body turns out to be that their loved ones find peace.

Ohhhhh... My hinky meter is off the charts. There is a guy on her FB saying he "dropped her off" the night she disappeared. He says he dropped her off 3-4 houses away from hers. I am hoping that Liz is okay.

Another guy also commented some pretty stupid crap on her page. May have multiple suspects. I hope LE is taking this seriously.

She has a lot of people that love and care about her.

We hear this a lot with missing person cases, that they were dropped off a few houses away or at the end of the street, never in front of the house.

Body found last week identified as missing Augusta woman

The body found on Weeks Mills Road last Friday while authorities were investigating a missing persons case was identified Friday as 37-year old Elizabeth A. Munster.

“Although the Medical Examiner’s Office has not confirmed the exact cause of death,” Lully said; “as a result of our investigation, we do feel comfortable letting the community know that you do not need to be in fear for the safety of yourselves or your families.”
