Police seek help to identify man’s body found in Leeds

A couple of ATV riders discovered the body off Bernie Hartford Road in the Androscoggin County town on Saturday.

Authorities are looking for help identifying a man found dead along a wooded road in Leeds.

A local couple riding ATVs in the Androscoggin County town discovered his body off Bernie Hartford Road around 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Detectives describe the man as black, between 20 and 40 years old, 5-foot-9 and about 110 pounds. His hair is long and curly on top and close-cropped on the sides, and he has an L-shaped scar on his right arm below his elbow.

He was wearing black pants, a black pullover jacket with a white horizontal stripe, and black Air Jordan shoes.

Maine State Police are investigating the circumstances of his death, they said in a news release Sunday.

The state medical examiner is expected to perform an autopsy.

Minnesota man's death considered suspicious by state police

LEEDS (WGME) -- The death of a man whose body was found in Leeds Saturday afternoon is considered suspicious, according to Maine State Police.

Police said the body of Madi-Hagi-Mohamed, 31, from Minnesota was found along a woods road off Bernie Hartford Road by a couple on their ATV around 5 p.m. Saturday.

Hagi-Mohamed was identified through fingerprints. Police said he has been arrested on cocaine charges in Rochester, Minn. in July and had recently relocated to the Lewiston-Auburn area.

A couple riding on an ATV found the body Saturday afternoon.

A section of Bernie Hartford Road was closed from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon as police investigated, according to residents in the area.

An autopsy has been completed by police are not releasing the cause of the death at this time.

Investigators spent Sunday gathering evidence in Leeds.

Detectives are interviewing anyone who has had contact with Hagi-Mohamed in recent weeks.
