GUILTY ME - Nichole Cable, 15, Glenburn, 12 May 2013

  • #281
I wonder if KD turned himself in for the other matter because he was scared for his own life - it sounds like IMO there were quite a few 'friends' who suspected his involvement in Nichole's disappearance and subsequent murder. When her body was found, I'm thinking he might have just decided he was safer in custody. He might have feared he could be physically attacked or something.

Looks like he had a few driving issues and not understanding why he would have to turn himself in. Didn't they know where he was? If he was arrested and charged with a serious violation, why was he wandering around killing people, and not still locked up? The whole thing is difficult to grasp. Maybe out on bond or maybe didn't show up for trial and they had a warrant for him? He doesn't appear to be the brightest, so I doubt he lived alone and supported himself totally. Appears to be very immature for a 20 year old.

Dube had been convicted on the charges stemming from the high speed chase and was scheduled to serve a 90 day sentence starting apparently on the 17th. He was actually sentenced on the 10th, but given a week before he was scheduled to start his 90 day jail term.

Many times jail's are over-crowded and (low risk) prisoners are scheduled to serve their term when there is an opening to house them. This could have been the case why KB didn't go directly to jail. Traffic court is not like you see in the movies where they take the defendant directly into custody at the time when a guilty verdict or conviction is reached. At the time of sentencing I don't think anyone (judge, district attorney) thought in their wildest dreams that KB would have killed someone in the week before he was scheduled to serve his sentence.

JMO

Dube had turned himself in to the Penobscot County Jail on Friday to begin serving a 90-day sentence on charges stemming from a high-speed chase last year in which the motorcycle he was riding collided with a police cruiser.

Sentenced on May 10, he was given a week of freedom before he had to report to jail. Cable was last seen on Route 221 in Glenburn at 9 p.m. on May 12.

It always makes me wonder. I raised a daughter who was a teen in the late 90s. She went to college and I finally stopped stalking her (mostly). She thought I was a freakoid because I didn't let her walk to the local pool alone (at age 16), made sure if she was staying with a friend, that I called the parent, had controls on the computer, and made her dates come to door and come in (no toot and go). She had a busy social life, but I tried my best to keep up with her. We now laugh about it and she knows I did the right things. My sons had monitoring too. So I just don't get this, especially in these days. Parents should be "worse" than I was. It's a no no, I think, to question it when there's a dead child, but it's reality.

I always thought my mom was cray cray when I was growing up and she did the same things that you did. Now, I appreciate what she did and know she was keeping me safe. Things are way different than they were when I was a teenager, sad thing is I'm only 26 so it wasn't all that very long ago. I just want you to know that I will be "stalking" my kids just like you did. It's called being a responsible parent and protecting your kids, it's what's suppose to happen.

I use to be jealous of those kids whose parents let them do whatever they want and didn't care. Now I know, they really didn't care and that isn't a good thing.

My husband thinks I'm insane because since joining WS I refuse to let my 4 year old play outside in our fenced in yard by herself. He thinks just because we live in a rural area it's fine but I insist it's not and we go toe to toe about it but this world is insane and anybody can be a predator now. Just because someone is our family or friends or someone who's clean cut and looks to be a nice person doesn't mean that they aren't a predator.

Think about the young girl who was killed and disposed of by the side of the interstate in a trunk (I can't remember her name) but it was her uncle, someone nobody suspected at first.

It's a scary world out there and if we're not protecting the innocence of our children, who is?

My kids weren't allowed outside alone at that age either. They were in jr high before i allowed them to wLk together in Walmart or the mall. They were never allowed to walk down the road to the local store. Its sad thy never enjoyed the freedoms i had as a child in the 60s, but as a parent it was a chance i wouldn't take.

I am so glad they found the perp quickly and arrested him. The pain of losing a child must be beyond describable, but the not knowing who did it on top of that pain would be unfathomable.

So sorry it turned out this way. :( RIP Nichole.

You are doing right! I wouldn't let my older son have friends over when I wasn't home because my daughter was 5 years younger. I don't regret one bit of it. My grands now are not allowed in my yard if I don't go too. It's just the way it is. I see my older son with his 14 year old daughter and I think, yep, he's a stalker parent too.

From what I read, he turned himself in to serve his preplanned 90 jail sentence for speeding and evading the police. Is that incorrect and he turned himself in for her murder?

Dube is in custody. I highly doubt any of the "death threats" he has been supposedly receiving will come to fruition in that environment. Just a lame attempt by his attorney.
