Bravo 13th Juror! VERY well said.

Yup, sure was. My dislike of Charles and Camilla has nothing at all to do with my feelings about Princess Di. Charles and Camilla are just plain nasty with their vulgar talk and their cheating ways. There's nothing nobel or romantic in Charles marrying Diana, not when he didn't end the relationship with Camilla and devote himself to trying to make the marriage work. At the very least he could have been discreet. He'a an embarrassment to the crown and a poor example to his sons. I don't care how much money he donates, he can't buy respect or decency.

As for Camilla, I've never had any respect for "the other woman" and I'm not changing my attitude simply because they're now married. She's always been gutter trash, IMO. Now she's Mrs. Gutter Trash.

My thoughts, exactly. :)

My feelings are as others have expressed. IMO, Charles never loved Diana. He used her, and then he treated her very shabbily. He didn't care one iota about her.

If he were any kind of a person, he would have married Camilla in the first place and not put Diana through the hell. I have read stories that Diana always dreamed of marrying Prince Charles, even as a little girl. He certainly was not her white knight in shining armor.

IMO, Charles was extremely jealous of Diana's overwhelming popularity. She may not have been the sharpest knife in the drawer, but she had beauty and grace, and the people identified with her.

Camilla is ugly as sin. I certainly don't see what Charles sees in her. However, they appear to be two peas in a pod.

Well, I just certainly hope that none of here, we "perfect" Americans, have dysfunctional families.

Or try to work through issues, love affairs, raise children, deal with tragedies and be in the limelight. There are plenty of rich Americans who are not handling things too well either, and plenty who are.

I don't think Charles killed Diana, but I think he may have used her or quickly became disillusioned with her. It was a mess. But I think Diana had plenty of problems of her own - insecurity, anorexia, divorce in her family, affairs. On the other hand, she seemed to be a wonderful mother to her boys. But she also started dating alot of "rich playboys".

They simply were not suited for each other.

The monarchy is still part of Britain right now. Of course I adore Tony Blair. But they are all one. Britain is our ally and we are still going to need them and other European countries to help us sanction Iran and probably do something drastic against Syria.

Charles is coming over to make overtures to President Bush, and we should be courteous back. My father has worked, in government, economics and foreign policy. Brooking Institute, Harvard, and University of Texas. He was one of the founders of the LBJ School of Public Affairs.

Yes, I have very strong opinions, and they are good ones. I am sorry of some people find them "funny" or "silly". Yes, I am Scottish/English and I am very entitled to my opinion.

Well they are off to the white house for dinner... and last night this was Camilla at a party at the NY Museum of Modern Art (that's a Union Jack handbag she is clutching)

She looks a little like I would, LOL, if I dressed up like that. But my TEETH are much better. How old is she, anyone know? 60's, 50's?

She looks just like I felt when my daughter was getting married last summer - a little nervous.

MarthaTex - with all due respect to you (and your entitled opinion!) - may I remind you that Diana never considered Camilla any part of "her family". As for Charles - Diana had divorced him - he was no longer "her family". Diana's immediate family, at the time of her untimely death, were "her 2 boys" - William & Harry. I don't hear anyone verbalizing a negative opinion (or trashing) either of Princess Diana's sons.

I'm sorry you feel it is "so tacky" to voice our honest opinions about Charles & Camilla here on "an opinion forum". According to the majority of news reports I've read & heard - our voices & feelings about the Royal duo appear to be in keeping with the majority of Americans. Like approximately 80% of them!

The word "dignitaries" implies *dignity* - a quality I found lacking in these two "Royals". "Tacky & undignified" are words I would have reserved for their past behavior.

In my world - respect & admiration for others is earned .. it has absolutely nothing to do with having "WORLDS of money". BTW - the "worlds of money" and philanthropic endeavors of the "Prince's Trust" is taxpayer money earned by the British people - not Charles or the Royal family. Their lavish "Royal lifestyles" are courtesy of "the people" - the hard working British subjects that support them.

Yes, the British have been our allies in the current *war on terror*. I would say we had Prime minister Tony Blair to thank for British participation - not Charles & Camilla.

JMHO

13th Juror

OK, just turn it around. How do you feel President Bush should be treated over there; because probably only 20% of Brits really respect him right now. (just a guess, of course) It's about 37% over here, of course.

You said PAST behavior. I'm a Christian, and I learned we should FORGIVE, if people show signs of changing and repenting. I think Charles is trying to set his life right, so I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

See that's the trouble, these days we just hold peoples' PAST behavior against them forever. Robert Downey JR's doing better, Bill Clinton's doing better, Betty Ford became a wonderful person, and that's why I believe in FORGIVENESS. I don't judge people forever.

I also learned that too much gossip, and negativity is destructive. That's why if I catch myself doing too much of that, I just walk away from it. So I'm going to stop now.

Well, I'm 57 and I honestly think I'm a little cuter than that. I wear my hair kind of natural looking, color it only slightly, and I don't turn it up like a nun's cap LOL.

But I think her dress is lovely. The jewelry is pretty too.

Well, let's look at the bright side, at least Chuck didn't behead Di like his rellies were wont to do when they tired of their wives! Poor thing ended up dying an early death, anyway. I know she wasn't perfect but she was ill-equipped to deal with the pressure and coldness of that family and they didn't much help her, from what I have read.

Thank God, it was the 20th Century so Diana did have an outlet -- affairs, charities, shopping, skiing or whatever! Charles certainly did! I think she did a good job with her boys, let's hope they rise above their father in character -- the man who wishes he were a tampon!

As for Camilla, of course looks aren't everything, but no wonder that's where he wanted to be! :D Did you see the recently unearthed photos of Di 5 months before her death? She was absoutely gorgeous! I think whatever her flaws, she was a kind person, too, a real person, who liked people.

I'll PM you if you like. I just figured you would want to make the connection publicly so everyone could understand. You never made your point clear and why you even brought it up is beyond me:waitasec:

We should ALL be courteous because of something your father did?

Diana's dazzle missing as Prince Charles tours city

Ho-hum, Prince Charles came to town with his new wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, and New York was not quite enthralled.

So this is the sound of 8 million yawns?

"Big deal," said Elaine Stern of Chelsea.

"Prince? I love Prince," said Robert Rodriguez of Bushwick in Brooklyn - only he wasn't thinking British royal family. He was thinking of the charismatic Minneapolis singing star.

"Oh, Prince Charles with the big ears from England," Rodriguez added, collecting himself in the gentle sunshine on Church Street. "Ah, I better be going. I'm pretty busy today."

What a difference 20 years and an older, dowdier wife can make!
