UPDATED: State Releases Interview Of Casey After Indictment
Posted: 8:00 am EDT April 6, 2009

Eyewitness News has obtained a new batch of evidence in the case against Casey Anthony. The State Attorney's Office in Orlando on Monday released three DVDs containing video and audio interviews along with other evidence and numerous Photobucket images.

The evidence includes Casey talking to investigators the day she was indicted and an undercover video of her brother Lee Anthony talking to her ex boyfriend, Tony Lazarro.

In another video that was released, Casey Anthony sat and joked with the FBI and Orange County detectives on the day she was indicted. She spoke more about her frustration over all the publicity than she did about anything else. Casey Anthony's talk with detectives on October 14 shows she was insisting Caylee was alive. She also blamed detectives for her indictment, claiming that all along she's been willing to sit down with them and talk about what happened to Caylee.

UPDATED: Officer: Casey Sought Sedatives, Talked Football After Remains Found
Woman, 23, Remains Jailed In Daughter's Death
POSTED: Monday, April 6, 2009
UPDATED: 4:39 pm EDT April 6, 2009
<snipped>
The released files contain interviews with jail guards who oversaw Anthony when the remains of her daughter, Caylee, were found in December. A shift supervisor at the jail said in one of the interviews that Anthony asked jail medical staff for a sedative after learning of the discovery.

Also included in the release was an interview between Anthony and the FBI on Oct. 14 -- the day a grand jury indicted her on murder charges in the death of her daughter -- Anthony said repeatedly that she and her attorney, Jose Baez, would be willing to talk to detectives about Caylee’s disappearance.

Never before seen images were also released on Monday, including pictures that the state thinks shows a connection between the wooded lot where Caylee's remains were found and the home of Casey Anthony's parents, where Caylee lived with her mother.

Casey Anthony case: George tells WKMG, "Never give up"
posted by halboedeker on Apr 6, 2009 9:06:58 AM
<snipped>
I was hoping for a full-blown George Anthony story from WKMG-Channel 6 Sunday night. The station had promised one Sunday morning.
But, no, the Sunday night piece was another tease. Yes, it was memorably strange, but it was still a tease.

Diaz said a Monday night report, after the NCAA basketball championship, would offer "more insight from the Anthony family."

Do you want insight from a man who made the statement in the Sunday night report?
Diaz continued, "You'll find out how George Anthony sees the case against his daughter. And he'll tell us things that you haven't quite heard yet."
Haven't quite heard yet? How does that work? Will the Monday night report be a tease, too?
WKMG's George Anthony reports: They raise more questions than deliver answers.

The information is contained on three DVD's. They contain video and audio interviews, photographs, Photobucket images, cell phone records and other documents.

Included in the documents is an e-mail to Cindy Anthony from her brother, who told Cindy he thought Casey was lying and that Cindy was in denial.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, information about the deputy who responded to a call in August to the scene where Caylee Anthony's remains were ultimately found was expected to be included in the newly-released evidence.

Casey Anthony case: Her moods, her lying style generate reports
posted by halboedeker on Apr 6, 2009 12:48:30 PM
<snipped>
On the day she was indicted, Anthony was "cool as a cucumber as she sat and joked with detectives from the FBI and the Orange County Sheriff's Office," said Kathi Belich of WFTV-Channel 9.

On WKMG-Channel 6, anchor Laura Diaz asked if Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, ever gave a reason why his client wouldn't talk with investigators. "His only explanation is she wants to invoke her right of counsel -- which means she doesn't want to talk -- and he never explains why," reporter Mike DeForest said.

In footage on WKMG, Lee Anthony wondered why his sister lied so much since middle school. "If she's deceitful, she's doing it for -- you know I can't even to say that," her brother said. "I'm trying to think: Does she really do it only to better herself? Or does she even say white lies just to do it. ... Sometimes it seems she lies to lie."

WESH-Channel 2's Amanda Ober studied the day Anthony was indicted: "On that day, Casey had appeared weepy and sorrowful at a news conference at her attorney's office. Just a few hours later, Casey laughed and joked with detectives."

The stations promised more coverage later today. WKMG also promoted its exclusive, one-on-one interview with George Anthony, Casey's father. That will air at 11 tonight.

Tammy Uncer told detectives she was surprised by the request because Anthony hadn't asked for any such medication before.

"It was very, very odd," Uncer said in one of the interviews that's among hours of tapes released by prosecutors Monday.

The new files, released on DVDs, include interviews with Roy Kronk, the utility worker who first alerted authorities to remains of a body in August, and the deputies who first responded to those calls.

Anthony's attorney was planning to release a statement later Monday.

Anthony largely stoic before remains found
ASSOCIATED PRESS • April 6, 2009
<snipped>
A Florida woman accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter rarely showed emotion in jail but became unhinged after she found out a toddler’s remains had been found near her family’s home, according to interviews with jail staff released today.

A shift supervisor at the jail where Casey Anthony is being held told investigators that Anthony cried and asked for sedatives after learning of the Dec. 11 discovery of the remains. DNA tests completed days later showed the remains belonged to her daughter, Caylee Anthony, who’d been missing for six months.

Orange County Corrections Lt. Tammy Unser told detectives she was surprised by Anthony’s reaction because she hadn’t shown emotion or asked for any other medication during her time behind bars. Before the request, “she was weird to talk to,” Unser said. “I don’t exactly know how exactly know how to explain it. Non-emotional would probably be the best way to say it.”

Casey Anthony case: WKMG sees "potentially damning account" from jail officer, links between home and crime scene
posted by halboedeker on Apr 6, 2009 5:45:05 PM
<snipped>
WKMG-Channel 6 studied her reaction on the December day remains were found near the Anthony home. Casey breathed rapidly and talked fast but not about the case, then she started talking about football, a corrections officer said.

In another report, WKMG's Tony Pipitone looked at key evidence for detectives. "It's clear they have found material that ties the Anthony home to the site where Caylee's body was dumped," Pipitone said. He cited the brand of duct tape (Henkel) found on Caylee's remains plus the plastic trash bags with yellow handles, a cloth laundry bag and pink-striped shorts the toddler was wearing.

In still another report, WKMG's Jessica D'Onofrio studied a taped conversation between Lee Anthony, Casey's brother, and Tony Lazzaro, her former boyfriend.
WESH-Channel 2's Amanda Ober offered newly released photos of Anthony "living it up on the nightclub scene" and evidence that someone used her computer to research neck breaking. The most wrenching new evidence? Photos of Caylee, her cheek marked or bruised.

Casey Anthony case: State's mistake gives stations an insight into defendant and "interviews you've been waiting to hear"
posted by halboedeker on Apr 6, 2009 6:46:03 PM
<snipped>
Today's big news in the Casey Anthony case was released by mistake. The state attorney's office hadn't meant to put out audio interviews with jail officers about Anthony's reaction to news that her daughter's remains had likely been found.
Jose Baez, Anthony's attorney, hadn't commented on the accidental release of the recordings, WKMG-Channel 6's Mike DeForest said during the 6 p.m. news.

But the stations realized what they had.
"They're the interviews you've been waiting to hear," WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Martie Salt said. "And they said Casey saw it first on Channel 9. "

WKMG's Tony Pipitone looked at what could be a break in the case for the defense. Deputy Richard Cain reversed himself in describing how he reacted in August to a tip from meter reader Roy Kronk, who later found Caylee's remains in December.
Pipitone explained the importance of the contradictions: "It could raise doubts about whether Casey could have dumped that body because she was, of course, in jail."

Casey Anthony weeps, chuckles in evidence photos, videos
By Amy L. Edwards and Sarah Lundy | Sentinel Staff Writers
April 7, 2009

After she was charged with murder in October, Casey Anthony chuckled with detectives before heading to jail.

But when she heard that a child's remains had been uncovered just blocks from her home, Anthony collapsed in a jail chair, her hands became sweaty, red blotches appeared on her neck and she appeared to hyperventilate.

Anthony's contrasting reactions were disclosed Monday when prosecutors released hours of taped interviews, photos and other documents as part of its case against the 23-year-old mother who is accused of killing her daughter.

Prosecutors Mistakenly Release Information In Anthony Case
Judge Yet To Rule On Defense Motion
POSTED: Tuesday, April 7, 2009
UPDATED: 7:31 am EDT April 7, 2009
<snipped>
Prosecutors on Monday mistakenly released audio recordings from corrections officers who discussed Casey Anthony's reaction when she learned that human remains of a toddler were discovered near her family's east Orange County home.

Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, filed a motion weeks ago, asking the judge in the case to block the release of the interviews. The judge has yet to rule on the motion, and in an e-mail sent Monday afternoon, the state attorney's office acknowledged that it inadvertently included the interviews among a mountain of other evidence that was released earlier in the morning.

Jail Officer Audio Tapes Weren't Supposed To Be Released
Posted: 10:02 am EDT April 7, 2009
Updated: 10:13 am EDT April 7, 2009
<snipped>
Eyewitness News obtained hours of new DVD interviews, pictures and audio Monday in the case against Casey Anthony, including audio interviews with two jail officers that apparently shouldn't have been released.

Prosecutors told Eyewitness News they mistakenly released the recordings of the jail officers who saw Casey on December 11, the day Caylee's remains were found. At the time, it was still unknown if the remains were in fact those of Caylee.

The officers said Casey heard the news on the radio in her jail cell and saw WFTV's special report, in which investigators found what they believed were Caylee's remains less than a half-mile from the Anthony home.
The audiotapes were supposed to be held until a judge ruled on a defense request to keep them away from the public.

Anthony: Casey's 'A Good Mother'
Grandfather Of Slain Toddler Opens Up In Interview
POSTED: Tuesday, April 7, 2009
UPDATED: 11:13 am EDT April 7, 2009
<snipped>
"Casey's a good lady. She's a good mother. She's a good woman," George Anthony said. "I really think what she's going through right now is unfair. She's been tried. I wouldn't want to be tried that way."

George Anthony praised his daughter's legal team, and said he knows how difficult the next few months and the trial will be for his daughter.
"She's got a tough road ahead of her, but I really think the defense team she has, Jose and the people with him, I think they're doing a good job," George Anthony said.

He said the family hopes to build a park where they and others can pay their respects to Caylee.
"There's not a day that goes by that we don’t think about her," George Anthony said. "The song of Caylee that was sung at our memorial, that's played every single day inside of our cars when we're out."

Attorneys Want Anthony Family P.I. Held In Contempt
Woman Has Same Name As Alleged Caylee Baby Sitter

The attorneys for Zenaida Gonzalez have asked the judge in her civil case against Casey Anthony to hold a private investigator in contempt of court.

Gonzalez's attorneys planned to question Dominic Casey, the Anthony family's private investigator, two weeks ago, but he failed to show up for the deposition, saying he wanted to first hire an attorney.

Gonzalez's attorneys said the excuse did not give Casey the right to skip the scheduled deposition.

Casey Anthony case: Her dad tells WKMG she's "a good lady"
posted by halboedeker on Apr 7, 2009 11:48:42 AM
<snipped>
WKMG-Channel 6 provided extensive, detailed coverage of the latest in the Casey Anthony case Monday. The station deployed reporters Tony Pipitone, Jessica D'Onofrio, Mike DeForest and Adam Longo in an impressive way.

But the station also had breathlessly promoted an exclusive with George Anthony, Casey's father, at 11 p.m. Monday. Anchor Jacqueline London described it as "the first candid interview" with him "since he learned of his granddaughter's death." Casey is charged with daughter Caylee's murder.

The interview wasn't worth the big buildup.
Cindy Anthony, Caylee's grandmother, didn't want to appear on camera but told WKMG that the Anthonys in the next month will plan "a big announcement as they get their Caylee foundation up and running."

What do you think about that?

Casey’s Reaction To Body Discovery Accidentally Leaked
Tuesday, April 07, 2009 1:03:25 PM
<snipped>
New details about how Casey Anthony reacted to news of a child’s remains found in December were accidentally released among hours of new interviews and hundreds of pages of documents made public Monday.

The state Attorney’s Office said they did not mean to release the recordings of Casey’s reactions until a judge made a decision on them.

The defense did not want the recordings to be released, and requested a judge to rule them private. No ruling had been made before Monday’s accidental release.

UPDATED: Officer Recalls Anthony's Behavior When Body Found
Report: She Collapsed, Later Talked Football

A corrections officer said Casey Anthony collapsed into a chair -- but later talked about football -- on the December 2008 day that she saw broadcast reports that a child's body was found near the Anthony home.

Anthony "collapsed into a chair and appeared to be hyperventilating," Lt. Tammy Unser said in an audio recording with detectives that was released this week.

Later, however, according to Unser, Anthony said, "'This isn't real. I am not breaking down,' then she started talking about football ... about the national championship."

Casey Anthony case: WKMG reports Florida Bar investigating multiple complaints that Jose Baez instructed private eye
posted by halboedeker on Apr 7, 2009 5:54:19 PM
<snipped>
The big news today in the Casey Anthony saga: Her attorney is under investigation again, WKMG-Channel 6 reported tonight.
The Florida Bar is exploring "multiple complaints" that attorney Jose Baez told a private investigator to keep quiet if he found Caylee Anthony's body, WKMG's Mike DeForest said.

That investigator is Dominic Casey, who worked for the Anthony family and searched woods near the family home for the toddler's body. The private eye had told detectives that someone had told him not to alert authorities if he found the remains.
Baez's spokeswoman issued a statement today that he has done nothing unethical as Anthony's attorney. Baez had not returned WKMG's calls, DeForest said.

Cindy also said that Casey wasn't solely responsible for Caylee' s disappearance.
"Casey had to have have had help no matter what you think the scenario might be," Cindy said. "There are people who know information."
