Reports: Woman says George Anthony told her Caylee’s death was ‘accident’
6:47 p.m. EDT, March 15, 2010
<snipped>
Caylee Anthony went missing in the summer of 2008. Her remains were found that December.

The 2-year-old's mother, Casey Anthony, is charged with first-degree murder in the case, which is scheduled to go on trial in May 2011.

Cruz said she became intimately involved with Anthony after Caylee Anthony's disappearance.

During the course of the alleged relationship, Cruz claimed George Anthony told her Caylee's death was accidental.

Casey Anthony’s father denies telling woman Caylee’s death “snowballed out of control”
George Anthony denies having an affair with woman

12:35 p.m. EDT, March 16, 2010
<snipped>
The woman was identified as Crystal in one television report, while another identified her as River Cruz. Sources say the woman's name is really Crystal Holloway. She has not returned a phone call from the Sentinel.

A woman who says her name is Skye Benhaida said her sister was the one who had the relationship with George Anthony. Benhaida told the Sentinel through Internet messages that her sister was asked to not discuss the relationship.

George Anthony's attorney, Brad Conway, said he's trying to do background checks on the women but have found the women have "multiple aliases."

"George denies accepting any money from River Cruz. We don't know if she donated any money to the search fund but if so it certainly was not a large amount as she claims," Conway said in an e-mail. "George denies any sexual relationship and denies making the statement about Caylee's death being an accident that snowballed out of control."

Alleged Anthony Affair Reveals Intensity Of Case
Prosecutors Work To Insure Witness Testimony

POSTED: 3:30 pm EDT March 16, 2010
UPDATED: 4:51 pm EDT March 16, 2010
<snipped>
Two former prosecutors said the scrutiny over George Anthony's alleged statements shows detectives are searching far and wide to see if he may know more than he has said under oath.

Brad Conway, who is George Anthony's attorney, had denied that his client had an affair, and he denied his client has any knowledge of how Caylee Anthony died.

But two former prosecutors have said the crucial question is not whether George Anthony had an affair but whether he knows more about Caylee Anthony's death than he has revealed in sworn statements.

Luka was Lee Anthony's attorney. Luka said any inconsistencies in George Anthony's statement could damage the state's case, and possibly benefit the defense by creating doubt.

"They need to make sure every witness is vetted to the utmost ability. Then nothing is a surprise when it comes down to the trial," Luka said.

Another former prosecutor, Jeff Dean, said detectives want to cast a wide net at this point for information like this, and if necessary, confront witnesses like George Anthony with their findings.

If George Anthony were to decide to change his story in favor of Casey Anthony, he could then be reminded that he could face serious consequences.

Casey Anthony: What could mistress report mean to George Anthony’s future, Casey Anthony’s case?
posted by halboedeker on March, 16 2010 5:38 PM

The story is a lot more crucial than any racy details about a possible affair. Two former prosecutors told WESH-Channel 2’s Bob Kealing that the main issue is whether George is keeping something from investigators to help Casey Anthony. River Cruz, the woman who says she had an affair with George, said he told her that Caylee’s death was an accident.

In other Anthony news, a spokeswoman for the defense team said reports are untrue that there is a $700,000 deal with the ABC network, WFTV-Channel 9 reported. “The defense says the rumors about the deal were fueled by bloggers and are false,” anchor Darrell Greenesaid. “Channel 9 broke the story in 2008 when the network paid Casey about $200,000 for all of her pictures and videos of Caylee.”

George Anthony’s Mistress River Cruz’s Body Language Shows She Is Telling The Truth
Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 at 6:20 am
<snipped>
When a conservative middle aged man makes significant changes to his physical appearance like getting a tattoo or getting his ears pierced, it is often a red flag that something may be up in terms of his cheating on his spouse.

When I heard George Anthony’s interview months back saying that he got his ears pierced for “Casey” something didn’t sit right with me, especially since he hadn’ t seen Casey for quite some time.

Then when George was in court during Casey’s latest appearance where she gave her fake teared apology to Amy Huizenga, I noticed another red flag. Wife Cindy leaned over to George and mouthed the words “I love you.” George essentially ignored her. He didn’t respond at all. He didn’t say ” I love you back.” He didn’t even smile. Body language wise this is a very bad sign for his relationship wit Cindy. It says to me that their relationship is in big trouble- at least from George’s standpoint.

LYING GEORGE

RIVER CRUZ OPEN AND SINCERE BODY LANGUAGE

SIGNALS OF DESPAIR

NOTHING TO HIDE WITH OPEN EYE CONTACT

SIGNALS OF ANGER AT GEORGE TAKING HER MONEY

HURT AND EMBARASSED ABOIUT BEING USED AS THE ZANAIDA PROTOTYPE

GEORGE’S ATTORNEY POO POO’S THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER WHO ALSO BUSTED JOHN EDWARDS
That is not necessarily true. Ever since the Enquirer busted John Edwards, their credibility has gone up in the eyes of the public. While they may sensationalize a headline, the content is often accurate as they don’t want to get sued.

And if they paid her for an exclusive interview, so what? In fact many celebs are paid for exclusive interviews or wedding or baby spreads in most all magazine .So what;s the difference now that law enforcement came to her door to interviwe her and the cat is out of the bag.

After this latest revelation, I am completely sickened by George. His ‘Mr. Nice GuyPoor Me Victim Act which I desribed in my blog during his Fox 35 interview is what I said all along—an ACT!

Anthony's Attorney Denies George Had Affair
Posted: 7:33 am EDT March 17,2010

On national television, Anthony's attorney Brad Conway released a statement denying George Anthony was ever involved with River Cruz. He also said Cruz never gave George Anthony thousands of dollars and denied George said Caylee's death was an accident that snowballed out of control.

In the statement, Conway said, "George did not have a sexual relationship with her (River Cruz). He did not receive $5,000 or whatever she is claiming she gave him."

Benhaida also said that her sister, River Cruz, was contacted by an attorney from Casey's defense team on Tuesday.

Casey Anthony: Nancy Grace’s guests don’t agree on whether George’s alleged mistress can be believed

WFTV’s Sheaffer explained what the accident comment could mean.

“The bottom line is, is that George made this statement, that the child was dead, one month before the body was found, when in public he’s professing that the child has been kidnapped,” Sheaffer told Grace. “That shows that either he had direct knowledge of that death of the child or that the killer confided into — confided that information to him that the child was dead. And the only person that has that relationship with him is the killer. The mother.”

Sheaffer said he found Benhaida “very credible” and added, “If her sister is as half as credible as she is, then the prosecution is not going to have a problem with her information.”

* I wanted to make sure eveyone seen this from Marc Klass!

A message from Marc Klaas
March 3, 2010
<snipped>
My name is Marc Klaas and my daughter Polly was murdered by a violent sexual predator in 1993.

In 2006, Californian’s voted to pass Proposition 83, otherwise known as Jessica’s Law. Among other things Jessica’s Law mandates that, prior to release from prison, violent sex offenders who meet certain offense criteria be evaluated in person by two expert psychiatrists or psychologists. If the experts agree that the prisoner is a violent sexual predator with a high risk of reoffending the prisoner must be referred to the District Attorney for civil commitment proceedings.

Currently, California’s Department of Mental Health (DMH) Sex Offender Commitment Program managers are simply providing a cursory ‘paper screening’ or record review of potential predators by one mental health professional in lieu of an expert panel in-person evaluation. This violation of California law has thus far dumped more than 17,000 potential sexual predators back into society.

In 2007, convicted rapist Gilton Petri was released as a result of a ‘paper screening’ and within 4 days kidnapped, raped, and murdered 15-year old Alyssa Gomez. Petri is currently awaiting trial for Alyssa’s murder.

Are you as outraged as I am that California’s DMH is ignoring the law at the expense of public safety? If so, contact Attorney General Jerry Brown and demand that he take appropriate action now. For maximum effect call, fax, write and email him now. I have provided his contact information below.

Will You Pay Casey’s Legal Bill?
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 1:44:27 PM
<snipped>
A hearing tomorrow could determine if Casey Anthony will get your money to pay her legal costs.

Her lawyers have filed a motion asking that she be declared indigent - meaning she does not have the money to pay them.

The Orange County Clerk of Courts has declared Anthony indigent, but Circuit Judge Stan Strickland must approve it.

Casey Anthony: Should the public help pay for her legal bills?
Casey Anthony’s lawyers will argue why the state should pay for certain defense costs

March 18, 2010
<snipped>
Q. What will happen at the hearing?
A. Strickland will review the Clerk of the Court's finding that Anthony is, in fact, indigent. Last week, the Clerk of Court found she met the indigent criteria. There also could be a discussion about Baez's fees.

Q. What does it mean to be found indigent?
A: Indigent means the defendant is too poor to pay for an attorney or cover the expenses needed to defend a case. There's a state formula that looks at income and assets.

Q. Is Casey Anthony asking the state to pay for her attorneys?
A. No. Anthony wants to be declared indigent for defense costs, which would include expenses such as hiring expert witnesses, traveling and depositions.

Q. Is this an unusual request?
A. Experts say such a request is not unheard of in murder cases. However, most defendants are found indigent early in the case.

Q. Are public defenders automatically appointed to a case when a defendant is declared indigent for costs?
No. Defendants have the right to an attorney of their choice.

"The problem that you have when you have a client who initially has money to pay a private attorney and then the money runs out, is that there has been the formation of the attorney-client relationship," explained Stetson University College of Law professor Charles Rose.

"Once it has been created, it cannot be severed just because there's no money to pay the attorney."

Q. What information might the JAC and Strickland want to know from Anthony's defense team?
A. Orlando attorney Ed Mills, who defended one of the suspects in the beating deaths of six people in Deltona in 2004, said the JAC may want to know how much Baez has been paid.

Casey Anthony: Jose Baez blames prosecution for Casey Anthony’s seeking indigency
posted by halboedeker on March, 17 2010 5:38 PM
<snipped>
“This afternoon, Jose Baez told us that his client Casey Anthony would have had plenty of money to defend herself had the state not chosen to seek death,” WESH’s Bob Kealing reported.

Baez told WESH that Anthony’s defense became more expensive when the state sought the death penalty. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

But Kealing noted that Anthony had filed for indigency in July 2008, but came into enough money to spend more than $110,000 on her defense.

“Today Baez adamantly refused to discuss where Casey got the money, saying it would be an ethical violation to discuss his client’s finances,” Kealing added. “Anthony will be in court tomorrow, and it remains to be seen whether Judge Stan Strickland will ask her to reveal anything about her finances other than to affirm what she already filed with the clerk’s office.”

Casey Anthony: State’s secret information no longer needs to be secret
Prosecutors are done with their investigation and report no need for delay in the release of details

5:21 p.m. EDT, March 17, 2010
<snipped>
Prosecutors in the Casey Anthony case say the information they wanted kept secret — while they investigated — can now be released to the defense and the public, according to a one-page document filed this afternoon.

The investigation is done and there is no need to keep details sealed, Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton wrote in the document.

It's unclear what is in the material and what it has to do with the case. It's also unclear when the information will be released to the public.

Once he unseals the information, prosecutors will give the information to her defense attorneys. That process makes the material public record.

Casey Anthony Expected To Attend Indigency Hearing
Indigency Hearing Set For Thursday Morning

POSTED: 5:56 pm EDT March 17, 2010
UPDATED: 6:18 pm EDT March 17, 2010

Casey Anthony is expected to attend her indigency hearing is set for 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Jose Baez told WESH 2 his client, Anthony, should not be facing the death penalty.

Baez said because the state attorney's went in that direction, Anthony's defense has become much more expensive. "Casey Anthony was willing and able to pay for her defense," Baez said, "until the state changed their position and decided to pursue the death penalty."

George Anthony is also expected to attend the hearing. Recently, a woman claiming to be his mistress said George told her Caylee's death was just an accident.

Casey will turn 24 years old on Friday.

State Spends $30K In Casey Anthony Case
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 11:47:55 PM
<snipped>
The State Attorney's Office has already spent more than $30,000 to prosecute the case against Casey Anthony. More than $25,000 was paid to a forensic entomologist. Another $5,000 was paid to a University of Florida Soil and Water professor.

The State Attorney's Office tab for the case is already at $35,651.

Former Orange County prosecutor and defense attorney Will Jay says costs will go even higher as more witnesses in this case are deposed and more experts are needed.

The JAC would hand out the money should Anthony be declared indigent. JAC officials told the court already they have "severe concerns" regarding Anthony's request.

One drawback for the defense if their request is approved is every expense will be thoroughly examined, and it'll be public record.

The hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday.

UPDATED: Details Emerge In Alleged Anthony Affair
Twins Who Claim Affair Have Criminal Records

POSTED: Thursday, March 18, 2010
UPDATED: 7:42 am EDT March 18,2010
<snipped>
There is more information being learned about the backgrounds of the two sisters who have gone to the tabloid media to claim one had an affair with George Anthony, the father of Casey Anthony, who is charged in the killing of her daughter Caylee.

The two have been using the names River and Skye, and they have taken their story to the likes of the National Enquirer. They are twins who also have been arrested a number of times. Records indicate they are often in need of money.

Cecelia Holloway is using another name to publicize her sister's supposed affair with George Anthony: Skye Benhaida. She claims to be the sister of "River Cruz," who is actually Cecelia's 38-year-old twin sister Krystal.

Local 6 also found that Cecelia was in jail from August 2008 to January 2009, the time the two sisters claim the affair was supposedly blossoming.

The two women also made a joint appearance in another crime report in February 2008 after more than $1,000 in jewelry was stolen from an apartment neighbor of the twins

In fact, on the day Casey Anthony was being escorted out of jail on Aug. 21, 2008, Cecelia Holloway was being booked there for violating probation on another conviction in Seminole County for dealing in stolen jewelry.

The hearing is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Viewers can watch it live on ClickOrlando.com

UPDATED: No ruling on Anthony indigency, Lawyer says ABC News paid her $200,000
Updated: Thursday, 18 Mar 2010, 4:31 PM EDT
Published : Thursday, 18 Mar 2010, 5:40 AM EDT
<snipped>
The case against Casey Anthony was back in an Orange County courtroom on Thursday. Her attorneys asked the court to declare her indigent so her legal fees would be paid for by the state. Judge Stan Strickland said he would issue a ruling in five days.

Right before Anthony’s indigency hearing got underway, the State Attorneys Office unsealed evidence regarding conversations that Casey had with other inmates at the Orange County Jail. In February 2010 Judge Strickland order the motion sealed. He unsealed the document on March 16, 2010 and it was released to the public today.

So how exactly would it work? FOX 35 talked to former Brevard County judge Oscar Hotusing. He said one can be indigent by the courts declaring and confirming the proof that there is no home ownership or any hidden assets. In this regard, according to officials, Casey Anthony is eligible and will be filed, indigent for purposes of cause. The judge will control how much money she receives and is allowed spend through out the case.

UPDATED: Judge To Decide If State Will Pay For Casey's Defense
Posted: 6:46 am EDT March 18,2010
Updated: 9:21 am EDT March 18,2010
<snipped>
Even if the judge approves Casey's request, a state agency says it still has big questions. They want to get a good look at her bank accounts. How Casey was able to fork over thousands to her lawyers when she had no job, and how did that money run out are just two of the hard questions her defense will have to answer.

Casey's lead attorney Jose Baez has never explained where that money comes from. On Thursday, he may be forced to answer.

At a hearing scheduled for 11:00am Thursday, a judge will decide whether taxpayers will foot the bill for Casey Anthony's legal fees. However, before that can happen, her defense team will have to prove to the Justice Administration Commission and the judge that she is broke.
