UPDATED: Casey Anthony's dad shows Caylee tattoo, calls the last two years 'just unbearable'
Casey Anthony's parents appeared on Good Morning America today, the two-year anniversary week of their granddaughter's disappearance.

Casey Anthony's father told a national audience today that he and his wife have faced overwhelming sadness since their granddaughter vanished two years ago today. "The last two years have been just unbearable," George Anthony told Good Morning America, according to the show's website. The Anthonys spoke about their thoughts on their daughter's innocence, Casey Anthony's jail letters, Cindy Anthony's panicked 911 call about the smell of a dead body in the car and George Anthony's suicide attempt, among other topics related to the case. Cindy Anthony said she still believes her daughter is innocent.

"I'm not angry about it so much as I am frustrated because I might be able to better understand why she's where she's at now. Because, I still truly believe that she is innocent," Cindy Anthony said. "There's got to be a motive there that's much greater than this whole picture."

She admitted that her daughter lied to investigators, but said, "A liar doesn't make you a murderer." The grandmother also said she told 911 operators her daughter's car smelled like a dead body because she was trying to get authorities to quickly respond to her house.

Casey Anthony's parents, George and Cindy Anthony, appeared on GMA today. George Anthony showed a tattoo he got in honor of his slain granddaughter, Caylee Marie.

UPDATED: Exclusive: George and Cindy Anthony Speak on 2nd Anniversary of Caylee's Disappearance
Grandparents Call Time 'Unbearable,' Say Casey Anthony Is Innocent But 'Anything Can Happen' in Trial

June 15, 2010
<snipped>
"The last two years have been just unbearable," an emotional George Anthony told "Good Morning America" in an exclusive interview today as he sat alongside his wife, Cindy Anthony. "To think about the last time we saw Caylee and Casey together, hear her voice, to see her little eyes and get a hug and kiss from her. It's not easy."

"We've been dealing with this almost as long as Caylee was alive, because Caylee wasn't quite 3 when this started," Caylee's grandmother Cindy Anthony said. "So it seems like this nightmare has lasted longer than the moments than we had with her. That makes it very, very difficult.

"And I miss the last three years that I could have had with her, or the last two years. And then thinking about her starting school..," Cindy said before breaking into tears.

"I mean the thought did cross our mind in the very beginning. There may have been an accident," Cindy said. But Cindy said she dismissed the thought, even though Casey refused to tell her where Caylee was.

"I'm not angry about it so much as I am frustrated because I might be able to better understand why she's where she's at now. Because, I still truly believe that she is innocent," the grandmother said. "There's got to be a motive there that's much greater than this whole picture."

Casey Anthony: How would those 911 tapes play with a jury?
posted by halboedeker on June, 14 2010 10:38 AM
<snipped>
Why are the tapes so important?

“They show how Casey Anthony reacted to her own mother’s distress, and that is not going to play well with the jury,” said Orlando attorney Richard Hornsby last week in offering legal analysis for WESH-Channel 2.

Hornsby described Casey’s reaction at the time as “monotone.” Judge Belvin Perry will rule on the prosecution’s motion, and there’s no timetable on when that decision could come down.

“It just means so, so much to me. Like, when people, like, pledge allegiance or something like that. Even when I do that or I put my hand of my heart, I'm like, ‘Ah man. She's here with me,’" George Anthony said to reporter Ashleigh Banfield.

“Do you foresee a day where you might stop wearing those bracelets?” Banfield asked. “No,” Cindy Anthony replied. “Not gonna do that,” George said.

In the call, Cindy told the dispatcher, "I found my daughter's car today and it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car." But Cindy insists she only mentioned a body to get deputies to her East Orange County home quicker.

“So when you said that it smells like there's been a body in the trunk, you didn't mean that? You just wanted the police out faster?" Banfield asked. “Yeah, because, there was never, I never thought that," Cindy said Tuesday.

The Anthonys believe their daughter is innocent and claim investigators have tried to paint her as a monster. Cindy said she believes Casey will not be convicted and will return home to their house on Hopespring Drive soon.

Casey Anthony: George, Cindy talk to ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday

<snipped>
The Anthonys were flown to New York for the interview, which was taped Friday and conducted by Ashleigh Banfield of ABC News. Banfield was free to ask anything she wanted, an ABC News spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said the network did not license any new photos or videos for the “GMA” interview, and that information will be disclosed on Tuesday’s show.

In 2008, ABC News paid Casey Anthony and her family $200,000 for photos and video of toddler Caylee Anthony. Casey Anthony was later charged with first-degree murder in the death of her child. Any photos or video used in Tuesday’s segment was licensed under the deal two years ago, ABC News said.

Casey Anthony: Cindy dreams of Casey coming home
posted by halboedeker on June, 15 2010 8:24 AM
<snipped>
The Anthonys were on “GMA” to promote themselves and their views. But they didn’t say anything new in their interview with Ashleigh Banfield. They discussed their pain about granddaughter Caylee’s death and their belief in daughter Casey’s innocence. Cindy said she dreams Casey will come home — evidently, Cindy thinks Casey will be acquitted. Casey is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. “The last two years have been unbearable,” George said. “It’s not easy. It’s not easy.”

The grandparents talked about tattoos and bracelets they wear in Caylee’s honor. Cindy said she talked about a body in a 911 call to get the attention of police — evidently an attempt to play down that dramatic call. Cindy said she thought investigators were frustrated with Casey because they couldn’t break her in 24 to 48 hours. “They didn’t break her, and they haven’t broken her, because there’s nothing to break,” Cindy said.

Bottom line: George and Cindy just never help themselves with their TV appearances. I have a feeling that Cruise and Diaz will be more successful with their stunt Wednesday morning.

Anthonys Say Last Two Years Have Been Unbearable
Couple Talks About Ordeal On National Morning Show

It's been two years since George and Cindy Anthony last saw their granddaughter Caylee alive. Tuesday, the couple marked the anniversary by talking about their ordeal on "Good Morning America".

Recently, letters Casey exchanged in jail with another inmate were released and in those notes, Casey alleged she had been sexually abused by both her father and her brother Lee. When asked how they felt about those letters Cindy Anthony said, " I read the letters. I read them all. It was very hurtful for George." But both George and Cindy said they still stand by Casey and their love for their daughter is unconditional.

Wild Caylee Anthony alive theory lands in court file
9:57 p.m. EDT, June 16, 2010
<snipped>
Almost from the beginning, the Casey Anthony murder case — and before that, the case of missing Caylee Anthony — served as the realm of conspiracy theorists, bloggers and self-anointed sleuths. They knew, they said, inside knowledge of what really happened.

Now someone with arguably some of the strangest ideas about what happened to young Caylee when she disappeared two years ago landed his unconventional theories in a Casey Anthony court file. A series of four e-mails apparently sent to the judicial assistant of Orange Circuit Judge Jose Rodriguez describe an alternative — and, in large part, impossible — set of supposed facts, claims and allegations.

James L. McIntyre, who floats similar theories about the Casey Anthony case online, wrote the e-mails. They were recently added to the civil suit filed by Zenaida Gonzalez, a Kissimmee woman accusing Anthony of damaging her reputation. Rodriguez is handling the defamation case.

Casey Anthony: When George and Cindy talk, we listen
posted by halboedeker on June, 16 2010 10:58 AM
<snipped>
Network news outlets may explore George and Cindy’s pain or mark anniversaries. But these interviews aren’t about George and Cindy’s anguish, their tattoos or their jewelry. No, the interviews carry a theme: What have they said now?

George and Cindy will spill something that leaves observers shaking their heads in amazement. And the couple did not disappoint this week on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Actually, Cindy did not disappoint. She really surpassed herself. She announced that she talked about a body in a 911 call just to get the attention of police. Why say that? Evidently to play down the call’s importance and help Casey case, which I doubt Cindy did.

Cindy’s unedited anguish two year ago was just too convincing. If she was faking emotion to get attention, she has been wasting herself. She should forget nursing and head straight to Hollywood, where she could challenge Miss Meryl Streep for roles.

Casey Anthony: Civil trial set for August next year
posted by halboedeker on June, 16 2010 5:24 PM

The defamation suit against Casey Anthony will go to trial Aug. 29, 2011, WFTV-Channel 9 reported this evening. Zenaida Gonzalez is suing Anthony for wrecking her life by linking her to Caylee’s disappearance. WFTV anchor Bob Opsahl said Gonzalez’s lawyers will soon be deposing Robyn Adams, Anthony’s jail pen pal who is in federal prison.

Casey Anthony’s Civil Trial Pushed To 2011

Casey Anthony's defamation trial has now been scheduled for August 29, 2011. That's a year and a half later than the date discussed at the last hearing. That means the civil trial will happen after Casey's criminal trial, which is set for May 2011.

Sometime soon, attorneys representing Casey’s accuser, Zenaida Gonzalez, will be deposing Casey's jail pen pal, Robyn Adams, who's now in federal prison.

Judge To Allow Deposition Of Casey's Pen Pal
New Trial Date Set In Deposition Case

POSTED: 6:44 am EDT June 17, 2010
UPDATED: 5:35 pm EDT June 17, 2010

The ruling means convicted drug dealer Robyn Adams will be a key witness in both the civil and criminal cases. Lawyers for Zenaida Gonzalez said Adams' claims could provide them with powerful evidence for their case. Gonzalez is suing Anthony for defamation.

Now that Judge Jose Rodriguez has given Gonzalez's attorneys the OK to depose Adams within 30 days, they're expected to travel to a federal prison in Tallahassee to question Adams about anything she and Anthony wrote and said to each other.

Rodriguez also entered an order saying the earliest this case can go to trial is Aug. 29, 2011, which means Anthony's murder trial, if it stays on schedule, would have three months to wrap up before the civil trial is set to begin.

Anthony Defense Files Motion On 911 Call
Defense Team Wants To Prevent Jury From Hearing Call

POSTED: 3:52 pm EDT June 18, 2010
UPDATED: 4:10 pm EDT June 18, 2010

Defense attorneys for Casey Anthony filed documents on Friday to prevent a jury from hearing a 911 call placed by Cindy Anthony.

Prosecutors said they want a jury to hear the call and several others during Casey Anthony's trial in May 2011, but the defense attorneys argued the call was not spontaneous and was made hours after the Anthonys inspected their daughter's car at an impound lot.

The defense also said Cindy Anthony mentioned during a television interview that she only made the statement to get a quicker response by authorities. Judge Belvin Perry has not yet ruled on the motion.

Will 911 Calls Be Excluded In Casey Case?
Sunday, June 20, 2010 9:00:03 AM
<snipped>
A status conference is scheduled for Monday afternoon in her murder case. Anthony isn't scheduled to attend the hearing.

The judge in the case has yet to rule on the 911 calls Cindy Anthony made after learning of her granddaughter’s disappearance nearly two years ago. Prosecutors want jurors to hear those calls, but Casey's lawyers are fighting that. They say Cindy was exaggerating in order to get a faster response from deputies.

Lawyers for both sides continue taking depositions of witnesses in the case.

New Motion Filed Over Cindy Anthony’s 911 Call
Friday, June 18, 2010 6:43:14 PM
<snipped>
A motion filed by Casey Anthony’s defense team says Cindy Anthony made up some of the things she said in her now infamous 911 call.

Prosecutors want those 911 calls allowed into the trial when it begins. They said the calls show a progression of stories Casey's told to explain her daughter Caylee's disappearance.

However, the defense said there are "factual disputes." The motion states Cindy Anthony “made that up in an effort to cause police to come more quickly to her residence for investigation."

The motion also asks the judge for a hearing over the calls, possibly leading to them questioning Cindy Anthony about the calls.

Casey Anthony: Cindy’s ‘Good Morning America’ interview figures in defense argument

Did you put much stock in Cindy Anthony’s interview on “Good Morning America” this week?

Well, Casey Anthony’s defense did. In the chat on the ABC News morning program, Cindy Anthony seemed to play down the significance of her 911 call two years ago in which she discussed the smell of a dead body in daughter Casey’s car.

The prosecution wants the jury to hear the calls; the defense dismisses the calls as hearsay.

Fight continues over Casey Anthony 911 calls
6:47 p.m. EDT, June 18, 2010
<snipped>
Anthony's legal team submitted its latest arguments today, asking to exclude 911 calls made by her mother in July 2008. The third in the series of calls is the one in which Cindy Anthony reports that her granddaughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, has been missing for a month. "There's something wrong," Cindy Anthony says during the call. "I found my daughter's car today and it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car."

The new filings reflect statements made in depositions this week and recent comments Cindy Anthony made on national television to explain her reference about the car's smell. The defense argues the calls are hearsay and should not be allowed at trial. Prosecutors argue that the 911 calls should be used at trial because they show a progression of stories Casey Anthony fabricated to explain the disappearance of the toddler. Part of the state's argument is that Cindy Anthony's comments amount to "spontaneous or excited utterances," which may be allowed in certain circumstances.

Yet the thrust of today's defense filing is that Cindy Anthony made the 911 calls after hours spent learning new information, discussing matters with co-workers, meeting her husband and picking up Casey Anthony. It says she held discussions with co-workers "in obtaining suggestions as to her course of conduct. They, therefore, could not qualify as spontaneous or excited utterances." The defense reply cites recent depositions of Debbie Polisano, a co-worker/supervisor of Cindy Anthony, and Charles Crittenden, another co-worker.

Meanwhile, in the civil case brought by Zenaida Gonzalez against Casey Anthony, Orange Circuit Judge Jose Rodriguez agreed to allow the deposition of federal inmate Robyn Adams, a friend of Casey's. Casey wrote dozens of notes to Adams while they were both held at the Orange County Jail.

Wild theory that dead Central Florida girl is still alive lands in court file

McIntyre's e-mail goes on to say that Garavaglia "misidentified the wrong body," when Caylee Anthony's remains were found in late 2008. He apparently means Jan Garavaglia misidentified Caylee's body.

Garavaglia said the FBI forensic lab in Virginia matched DNA from the bones to Caylee's known DNA. But McIntyre, who claims to have solved several felony cases, insists that the body found is that of a "baby girl Doe," the victim of a still-unsolved killing. He calls the entire Anthony case a "botched investigation" and says Casey Anthony "has basically told the truth on nearly everything," according to one e-mail.

UPDATED: Casey's Defense Flip-Flops; Hearing Set For 911 Calls
Posted: 4:15 pm EDT June 16, 2010
Updated: 6:35 pm EDT June 21, 2010
<snipped>
The case against Casey Anthony was back in court Monday afternoon for a status hearing, but Casey did not attend. Judge Perry said she doesn't have to come to the monthly status hearings, which won't involve arguments on major issues. In her absence, one of her lawyers argued the 911 calls made by Cindy Anthony should not be heard in her murder trial. However, Judge Perry decided during the less than 30 minute hearing that the issue over 911 calls will be heard at an already-scheduled hearing July 15.

WFTV also learned Monday, there's new information about the site where Caylee's body was found. The defense has now flip-flopped on claims it has made all along, claims it made that it had evidence that EquuSearch volunteers had already looked for Caylee in the woods where she was found months earlier and found nothing. That was the cornerstone of their argument that someone put Caylee's body there after Casey was kept behind bars. The defense argued Monday for throwing it out.

The defense also appears to be backing off of the claim that Orange County meter reader Roy Kronk, who found Caylee's remains, should be a suspect in Caylee's murder. It asked for more time to decide whether to list Kronk's ex-wives as witnesses after they made wild accusations against him, one of them involving duct tape like the tape that was found over Caylee's face.

Casey Anthony will have to appear at the next court hearing. Both sides will be back in court on July 15. They will once again discuss Cindy’s 911 call and records from the group Texas EquuSearch; volunteers from EquuSearch helped to look for Caylee shortly after she was reported missing.

Also, more evidence is expected to be released in the next few weeks.
