"Homicide detectives riding an amphibious machine located the remains on the surface of a dense wetland thicket less than a mile from the Oak Beach community where Gilbert, 24, who had worked as a prostitute, was last seen alive May 1, 2010, during a visit to a client."

Anyway, it's probably just a false alarm. Just some young, 22-year-old who was her pimp or driver. Way too young to have been the guy that's been killing these girls for over a decade. Here's one of the articles:

Prostitution plea linked to Gilgo case

A Brooklyn man linked to one of the women found dead in the Gilgo Beach area pleaded guilty Wednesday to federal charges that he transported her to Long Island for prostitution.

Akeem Cruz, 22, admitted to Magistrate Judge Cheryl L. Pollak in federal court in Brooklyn that he took two women from Maine to Long Island several times from March 2009 until August 2010 to meet clients at local hotels.

According to a superseding indictment filed earlier in the case, officials said that Cruz and co-defendant Robert Blake posted ads on the Internet, including on Craigslist.com, to sell the sexual services of several women.

Cruz, who also goes by "Vybe" and "Mello," pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Mann Act, a federal law that prohibits transporting people across state lines for prostitution. He didn't admit in court to any involvement in Waterman's disappearance.

Blake is expected to go to trial later this year on sex trafficking and Mann Act charges. In the original criminal complaint filed against him in February 2011, FBI agents said that in August 2010 he had a woman and her 18-month-old child flown from Maine to New York. Blake then allegedly threatened the woman to force her to work as a prostitute at the JFK Inn near Kennedy Airport, according to the complaint.

"The latest set of bones was discovered at around 6:30 p.m. Friday in a pine barrens in Manorville. A resident of the town, Matt Samuel, said he was walking through the area with his dog when he made the find."

"I probably walked by it a hundred times before, and I saw it kind of sticking out of the ground, and it looked unusual. I looked a little closer and from there discovered that it was human remains," he said, adding that it looked like the body had decomposed many years ago. "It was wrapped in bed sheets and a plastic bag, It was a whole body, but just the bones, there was trees growing up through it, so it has been there a long time."

“At this time, we cannot say if the remains are connected to any other cases,” a police spokeswoman said on Saturday. “The scene will be processed and re-evaluated to see if any further searching is necessary. At this point, we are at the preliminary stages of the investigation”

The spokeswoman said that investigators “cannot yet determine the age or gender of the remains.”

"The unidentified child, found wrapped in a blanket is between 16 and 32 months of age and is related to one of the victims found near Jones Beach in Nassau County [she is not related to the woman found within yards of her (Jane Doe #6), who many had speculated could have been the child's mother, due to the close proximity in which their bodies were found] but both of their identities have yet to be determined, according to Dormer. She is described as “non-caucasian.” The link was made through DNA analysis, Dormer said."
