Cummings moved to Putnam Jail
Saturday, January 30, 2010 1:56 AM EST
<snipped>
Ronald Cummings, the father of missing child Haleigh Cummings, was moved out of Flagler County to the Putnam County Jail on Friday morning.

"The investigators on the narcotics case no longer have reason to keep him segregated," Lt. Johnny Greenwood, spokesman for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, said. "All the trafficking charges were in Putnam County, so the proper place to have him is our jail."

Cummings was taken to the Flagler County Jail while narcotics investigators questioned the five in relation to the drug charges, Greenwood said.

Greenwood said Cummings' bond will remain at $500,000. Misty Croslin, 18, faces six counts of trafficking in medications, and is being held in the St. Johns County Jail on a bond of $950,000. Other involved include her brother, Hank Croslin Jr, 23, of Satsuma, Donna Brock, 43, of Orlando and Hope Sykes, 18, of Satsuma.

All are being held in St. Johns County with the exception of Sykes and Cummings.

There's a reason Nancy Grace's 'exclusive' sounded familiar
Story updated at 7:04 PM on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010
<snipped>
Much of Grace’s show last week was built around audio of an interview, done in the Flagler County jail, by Times-Union reporter Dana Treen. Or, as we now call him in the newsroom, “inaudible.”

Dana has spent much of the last year trying to keep up with the saga of Haleigh Cummings and her family. I don’t envy him. It was hard enough to cover the tragic beginning. But since then, I imagine it has been kind of like covering one very long episode of Jerry Springer.

So last Sunday, after Haleigh’s father and former stepmother were arrested on charges of trafficking in prescription drugs, Treen spoke with Cummings by phone. The conversation was recorded and made a public record.

But when the audio became public, Grace filled hours of her prime-time cable show with it, inevitably labeling it an exclusive. If you didn’t know better, you would have thought it was the show’s exclusive, that Grace’s people did the interview and had the only record of it.

And she and her staff made sure viewers didn’t know better, never mentioning the Times-Union, Dana Treen or -- minor detail -- that others had the audio. Beyond that, when the show played conversation that included Cummings calling the reporter by name, the transcript on the screen included every word except one. The name.

Maybe I should cut Grace some slack. It was a long week. She had to appear in court for a deposition in a wrongful death suit filed against her and CNN. Her lawyers fought against having it videotaped, basically saying they feared someone might get ahold of the clips and use them in ways they couldn’t control.

Imagine that.

Putnam Drug Bust: Who Is Donna Brock?
Posted: Monday, 01 February 2010 6:38AM
<snipped>
What we do know is that this is the same woman who was involved in assisting Texas EquuSeach and its director Tim Miller in befriending Misty Croslin this past summer in an effort to create an atmosphere of comfort to try to get he to tell all she knew of the night HaLeigh Cummings was taken from her home where Misty was babysitting her.

What WSKY and a team of net researchers have discovered about Donna Brock is that she married to retired Navy officer Bradley Brock. She reportedly has residences in North Carolina, Florida and Georgia. Brock was employed by a dentist in the Orlando, FL area.

It's reported that the car she drives is registered in his name.

Brock will also be the focus of a Nebbia Hearing which will hopefully answer many more questions as to who this woman really is and what her motives might be in this case.

Haleigh Cummings saga: Troubled family hopes for her safe return
But an investigator says they can't "get a straight line" on their probe.
'Snip" By Dana Treen Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010

Early in the search for Haleigh Cummings, Putnam County detectives posted a family tree on their office wall to keep track of and explore any intertwined connections in the case.

In the same time, troubles that follow her family have left investigators sensing someone connected to them knows more.

"There is a lot going on with this family," said Dick Schauland, "We still can't get a straight line with what is going on with this thing."

Detectives continue to sift through the tips, but come back to the all-important timeline in an attempt to define what was going on in the days before Haleigh vanished.

SKY Investigates: Inside the PCSO "HaLeigh Room"

"Snip" TJ Hart http://www.thesky973.com/pages/6278104.php

The search for a missing Satsuma, FL has been underway for nearly a year.

After that, Putnam County Sheriff's Office investigators have been holding what they know close to the vest.

For the first time, the Putnam County Sheriff's has allowed cameras to enter the working area known and the HaLeigh Room where the volumes of interviews and other evidence is kept:

Pictured are many many binders of leads, suggestions, sightings, psychics, other agency reports, etc. The room is outfitted with it's own computer system, DVD player, phone and other equipment.

You will notice a box full of brown folders. These are the transcripts of interviews with Misty. There is also 2 books of DVD/CD that contain video audio taped interviews(over 200 plus of these).

Maps on the wall along with time lines. I was not allowed to get close enough to photograph names on the timelines so as to not compromise the case.

News Talk 97.3 The Sky is scheduled to have an off-air conversation with Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy Wednesday.

Details coming soon on 97.3 The Sky.

UPDATED: Video: Misty Talks With Mom From Jail
Surveillance Video Also Shows Hank Croslin Jr. Talking With Wife
POSTED: Wednesday, February 3, 2010
UPDATED: 6:02 pm EST February 3, 2010
<snipped>
"Mom, I want out of here. I want out so bad," Misty said while crying. "Man, I miss you guys. I'm stuck in this one little cell the whole time. They won't let me do anything."

On the surveillance video, Cummings repeatedly says she wants to go home. "I want out of here. Have you heard if my bond's been lowered?" she said.

In a seven minute conversation with her mom, Cummings' pending drug charges and the Haleigh investigation never come up. "It sucks, man. I hope I don't have to be here forever," Cummings told her mom.

Misty also talked to her dad via video conferencing. However, the jailhouse surveillance video recording malfunctions, and the next thing to appear is Cummings' brother Hank Croslin Jr.'s end of the conversation.

"I don't understand why you didn't come forward before?" his wife continued. "You should have left when I told you to go to Michigan. The Haleigh stuff's got to come to an end. The truth's got to come out, and you don't be talking without your lawyer."

After a full hour, Cummings' dad reminds her once again to speak the truth. "Got to be strong, tell the truth," he told her. "Don't lie about nothing no more. I love you, too."

Officials with the Putnam County Sheriff's office state these charges were not previously filed as the arrests on that date were made on warrants that were based upon prior undercover purchases. They added that the issuance of the warrants today and the filing of the additional charges are a follow-up to the operation which led to the original arrests.

Reporter's Notes: Conversation with Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy

"Snip" TJ Hart http://www.thesky973.com/pages/6279996.php

TJ: Good afternoon, Sheriff Hardy. Thank you for taking time out of your day to speak with me.

JH: Not a problem.

TJ: First year as a Sheriff...a lot of challenges including the disapperance of Haleigh Cummings. Any light at the end of the tunnel as far as a resolution in this investigation.

JH: This is an ongoing investigation.

TJ: Are we still looking for a live child? Some have stated that the Putnam County Sheriff's Office is looking for either a live child or possibly a dead child, but prefers to think the child is alive.

JH: Don't you want us to find a live child?

TJ: Yes! Who wouldn't?

JH: I believe we are looking for a live child, but we--like the families--are prepared to for a real possibility that she might not be alive.

TJ: Where is Ronald Cummings being held in the Putnam County Jail?

JH: He is in solitary confinement.

TJ: What is it like? All I know about solitary is what I've seen in those old prison movies from the 1940's.

JH: He has a small cot and a toilet.

TJ: A cot and a pot?

JH: You could say that.

TJ: How has this case affected your detectives and other deputies working the case?

JH: It has been very intense. Some of our officers have had to be pulled off the case from time-to-time due to exhaustion. Losing this child has been like losing one of our own children.

TJ: I want to ask you a few things about your jail....

JH: Excellent questions...

TJ: It is common knowledge around here that the jail is overcrowded. It's a facility built to house about 236 inmates and at last count, you have 360 behind bars there!

JH: I knew about this problem coming into office. It's been talked about for nearly a decade and now it's time for some meaningful action. Just this past year we've had a jail break where two escapees killed an innocent woman. Later, we had an inmate shot and killed trying to escape. Our inmate to officer ratio is too high--officers get hurt... We need about 29 more jail personnel.

TJ: How much worse does it need to get?

JH: We have the lowest bond schedules in the state. We are backed up on warrants served due to the over crowding at the jail.

TJ: Isn't the jail facing the very real possibility of being shut down by the feds due to overcrowding? It has happened before in other places, correct?

JH: I think it could happen. It's frustrating....my job is to catch bad guys and get them off the street and housed safely away from our citizens--that's what I was elected to do!

TJ: What action steps are you taking to remedy this problem?

JH: I plan on meeting with the County Manager and the County Commission shortly. We need to take actions to expedite the judicial process. This ISN'T a catch a release program!

Jailhouse surveillance video released Wednesday by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office shows Misty Cummings talking with her mother during a video conference with tears in her eyes.

She can be heard saying over and over again that she wants to go home and complaining about her level of discomfort and stating, "They don't let me do nothing in here."

Misty also talked to her dad with the video conferencing equipment. However, the jailhouse surveillance video recording fails to operate properly. The next images to appear is Cummings' brother Hank Croslin Jr.'s end of the conversation.

More charges filed against Misty Croslin, Ronald Cummings

Warrants for two additional charges related to the sale of prescription narcotics have been filed against Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin, two key figures in the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings almost a year ago.

The additional charges, added to the six previously filed against Croslin, brings her total bond to $1.35 million. Cummings also faces two additional charges, bringing his total charges to five and his bond to $900,000.

Meanwhile, the St. Johns County Jail, where Croslin is being held, on Wednesday released a videotape of Croslin speaking with her father in which he urges her to tell authorities what she knows about the Haleigh case.

"Misty, don't be lying about nothing because all it's going to do is bury you deeper," Hank Croslin Sr. tells his daughter. "The Haleigh stuff has got to come to an end. It has to, Misty."

"Mom, I want out of here," Croslin said. "I hope I don't have to be here forever."

Only Hank Croslin Sr. can be heard in his visitation tape, and he tells her to tell authorities the truth. "Don't lie about nothing no more," he said.

Also in the St. Johns County Jail is Croslin's brother, Hank Croslin Jr., who was arrested on drug charges along with Croslin and Cummings. He was recorded in a visit with his wife, Lindsy. They do not discuss the Haleigh case, instead focusing on Hank Croslin's troubles.

EXCLUSIVE: Will Leonard Padilla bond Misty Croslin out of jail?
February 3, 8:45 PM
<snipped>
Misty and her family outrageously only seemed to care about themselves and not the missing 6-year-old girl Haleigh Cummings. The only mention of the child was when they offensively called the investigation into her vanishing as the "Haleigh stuff."

EXCLUSIVE: World famous Bounty Hunter Leonard Padilla, well known for bonding tot mom Casey Anthony out of jail while she was arrested for the murder of her toddler child Caylee Anthony, will bound Misty Croslin out if she agrees to his "terms." Police have said Misty Croslin is the key to unlock the mystery of Haleigh Cummings and recently have said that nobody has been ruled out. This is a backtrack where they cleared the father of Haleigh Cummings, Ronald Cummings.

Padilla said when he saw a jail house video of Croslin, it reminded him of a similar video he saw of Casey Anthony. "What I saw was she wanted out real bad, she told her mother," Padilla said.

Padilla said he wants to put his resources behind finding missing Haleigh Cummings. "Leonard is a publicity seeker," said an investigator who once worked with the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "He likes to get his face on TV."

In exchange, Croslin's attorney would hire Padilla on a small contingency fee so that anything Croslin tells him or his aides would be privileged under attorney-client contract. "Given the situation she might be forthcoming with some information that maybe she hasn't disclosed. I think she's got some stuff, either she's given law enforcement and they haven't given it up, or she has information that would lead to the child's return," Padilla said over the phone. "Somebody knows where the child is, and the obvious person that would be able to start the ball rolling is Misty."

Feb. 9 marks one year since Haleigh Cummings disappeared from her home in Satsuma.

There is no comment from Croslin or her attorney as to whether she will accept the offer.

Bounty Hunter Wants to Get Misty Croslin Out of Jail

Leonard Padilla said he'll pay Croslin's bail to get her out.

"Given the situation, she might be forthcoming with information that maybe she hasn't disclosed," said Padilla in a telephone interview with First Coast News Wednesday.

"I'm assuming that she wants to divulge further information that she probably hasn't -- as of right now -- in order to locate the child," Padilla explained. "I think she has some stuff that either she has given to law enforcement and they haven't given it up or she has information that would lead to the child's return."

Padilla said he had the same motive with the Caylee Anthony case in Orlando. He wanted to find the missing toddler.

The California-based bounty hunter paid to get Casey Anthony out of jail. However, once she was out, she didn't talk to him.

Padilla said he believes the Haleigh Cummings case could be different.
