Because she was filming they drove recklessly, slammed on the brakes in front of her, then approached with weapons drawn. It's only a matter of time before they kill someone else.

"MPR News has learned that the police chief in the small southern Minnesota city of St. Peter intervened Thursday afternoon to prevent federal immigration agents from arresting a local resident.

The resident, a woman, had been observing and recording video of immigration enforcement actions from her car when agents removed her from her car and took her into custody.

It's believed to be the first time a local police department in Minnesota intervened in a federal law enforcement action since the surge in immigration enforcement began two months ago."

This is so frightening. I'm getting panic just from watching it.
Crazy....

It may be a wrong comparison, but in my mother country, Siberians are like this. The climate factor (harsh continental) plays the role. First, it makes people less racist and more interested in helping neighbors. Whoever survived the first winter, became “the local”. Second, people are less afraid. What used to be “the exile place” for the Russian gentry and later, became “the Gulag”, was the locals’ daily life. Where can you send them out that would be worse? You can only make their daily life impossible, like it happened in Minnesota when ICE came, but then they can stay out in the cold and protest for longer than ICE.

And btw, hot weather is also bad there, because it is a scorcher. So invading them in summer is also bad.
Thank you, @Charlot123. I appreciate you because you’re always so logical (and I’m not!). ❤️
In this regime?? That’s who gets hired
Nope. I’m going to send this to my Jewish friends and see what they think.

OMG. That is traumatic and disturbing.

USA, this is happening on the streets in our country.

Don't ask why people are angry. Ask why people are NOT angry.

When people are shipped from Minnesota to Texas but then released from the detention center, how do the people get back home? Are they on they own? Are they brought to the airport? Is air transporation provided, given that ICE made the mistake?

jmo

I am concerned about different infections and viruses in different parts of the country.

Thank God the police chief was there to intervened. Never in my life would I believe I'd see such actions playing out like this in America. They're emboldened by their anonymity to a point of becoming, acting like storm troopers. She was not breaking any laws in filming them. Did they have their masks off on a break and got angry they were filmed?

Just an unbelievable experience in America...a woman alone in a vehicle, who I'm sure had her hands in plain sight after what happened to RG, having multiple firearms pointed at her by masked and shouting combatants. Is this what we want in our communities, to be terrified by government agents?

Anybody notice how lately real life is looking and feeling an awful lot like that 2024 movie "Civil War"?

ICE needs to go back to the drawing board. No masks for totally accountability of one's actions. No house searches without a judge-signed warrant. No stopping vehicles without legal probably cause that a law has been broken by the driver or occupants. No going into schools or using children as bait to get their pregnant mothers to come out of the house. No use of chemicals on peaceful protesters.

You know, following The Constitution, local and federal laws and child protection policies and act like real law enforcement officers.

Federal Judge Fred Biery had this to say about the government's actions in MN.

"Observing human behavior confirms that for some among us, the perfidious lust for unbridled power and the imposition of cruelty in its quest know no bounds and are bereft of human decency. And the rule of law be damned," says the court document.

A link to Judge Biery's judgement, as he grants a writ of habeas corpus. It's short (only three pages long), but extraordinary. It equates the actions of the present administration to those of King George III.

Thousands of new ICE watchers hit the streets after two killings
Minnesotans outraged by the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti have signed up in large numbers to monitor and protest ICE with other activists.

More than 34,000 Minnesotans have signed up to be trained as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement observers with various activist groups in recent weeks, many of them since Jan. 7, when a federal agent shot and killed Renée Good, a poet and mother of three, after an encounter with an ICE convoy in South Minneapolis.

ICE moves migrant families from controversial detention center to Laredo shelter

This article is about the Dilley facility where Liam is being held.

Apparently minors are only supposed to be detained up to 21 days.

Chicago mayor signs executive order calling on police to investigate federal immigration agents accused of misconduct

“We are putting ICE on notice in our city. Chicago will not sit idly by while Trump floods federal agents into our communities and terrorizes our residents,” Johnson said in a statement, referring to President Donald Trump’s controversial immigration enforcement efforts around the country.

“We need to send a clear message: If the federal government will not hold these rogue actors accountable, then Chicago will do everything in our power to bring these agents to justice,” Johnson said shortly before signing the so-called “Ice On Notice” executive order.

“This executive order will make Chicago the first city in the country to set the groundwork to prosecute ICE and Border Patrol agents for criminal misconduct,” the mayor said.

The order directs the Chicago Police Department to document federal enforcement actions, preserve body-camera footage, attempt to identify the federal supervisory officer on scene of an incident, complete a report on the alleged misconduct and immediately summon emergency medical services, according to Johnson.
