Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex vs Associated Newspapers

All these arguments ignore the press drip drip drip of negativity from the beginning.

Why, because there is a lot of bad unacknowledged English behavior.

TMZ is quite dramatic. Drips from celebrity news. Does Markle not want to be a celebrity? Any thoughts on what she is doing in LA pitching story teller roles if it's not celebrity related?

Negative Markle press is not a UK thing. Everyone knows that. They are LA celebs. Many are not impressed so far, but anything is possible.

The lawsuit seems quite shameful. Markle could have settled this in her favour, but her choice is to parade her five friends through the courts where it will be determined whether Markle knew they were gossips.

After the fact, it should be available, but I would like to know now. For example, if Markle claims the issue was related to her role in the Royal Family, and she was part of the Royal Family when this started, then perhaps she can claim that the Royal Family should pay the bill.

If the Royal Family is covering the bill, then Markle has no financial stake in the game. If her 5 friends take the fall for spilling the beans, Markle has no reputation stake in the game. She comes out clean, distances herself from some of the 5, and on to the next 5.

It she's paying the legal bill, she should quit while she is ahead. Perhaps there's another reason for wanting the Royal Family to pay the bill. There was something about whether Markle was treated different from other members of the Royal Family (excluding the Queen and lines to throne) by the Royal Family, but that is not apparent anywhere. Andrew and Harry were treated the same, Fergie and Markle are treated the same, and they aren't the first.

MOO totally disagree.

Fergie was having an affair while seperated from Andrew and got photographed getting her toes kissed etc.
Photos splashed in the press.
Knowing what we know now about Andrew, of course she should have divorced him faster. Still that was a genuine scandal they were still married.

Treating Meghan the same is deeply biased and dishonest.

Do you lose copyright in England if you tell friends things?

Also the responsible civic minded actors in LA often make videos, attend events and generally fundraise for things like Save with Stories.

The Queen is the press?

The press going after Meghan the way they did is disrespectful to the Queen, unless the Queen gave the green light.
Meghan was not and is not scandalous.
The press has and still is going on and on after her the way bad mother-in-laws go after "that woman" who married their son.

Press:
Proverbially speaking...

Lady Diana and the Duchess of Cambridge are the same. They are or were both married to a future King.

Markle wants the world to view her as Diana 2.0, but she was never in that league. Harry is not in that league. Markle is not wife of future King material. She is Prince Andrew material - troublesome wife of the second son.

Andrew and Harry are problematic sons for the monarchy. Fergie, and now Markle, have somehow misunderstood their role and caused a rift between the charming second son and the public.

The Court of Queen's Bench is a thing in all commonwealth countries. It originated in England, and exists in places like Canada. Law is printed by the Queen's Printers in Canada.

It's bizarre that Markle would marry Prince Harry and then claim that she doesn't trust law and Court of Queen's Bench. It's more or less reveals that she doesn't know Harry and his role in the Royal Family.

Celebrity gossip is the same all over the world. If Markle thought that she could bypass Harry's expectation that she not manipulate the press by feeding information to 5 friends, that's sneaky.

Isn't that nice that people fund raise in LA.
Do they squish truth in courtrooms?

She took her new Royal life commitment so seriously that she kept her agent and publicist on retainer during her time in England.
When she found there was work involved and she did not get the continual deference she felt she was entitled to from the Press, she just went back to Plan B.

Second son is man. He fell in love, married, had a son is devoted to his family.
Not too problematic.
Unless you mean his lost night in Las Vegas.

Does Harry feel duped? The rest of the world was not surprised that Markle sneaked Harry's son out of the UK for a 6 week mandatory timeout and never brought him back. Custody will always be an issue for Harry - his son in LA and his life, family and military positions in the UK.

In April 2018 Markle used Mulroney to get a favourable media edit. Harry was notified of the discretion, and he said it wouldn't happen again.

Instead, we have the 5 friends who speak for Markle. Harry has no status in the Royal Family anymore so there's no point to ask whether Markle's 5-friends are sanctioned by Harry's staff. He has no staff, but if he did, it would not be sanctioned that Markle's 5 friends sought to manipulate media to be more favourable.

It's not modernization to exploit, it's simply not allowed.

Indeed. The second sons in the British Royal Family married women that not only stripped their charm, but their wit.

I'm sure that Harry really wants to stick it to the media that his mother died in a car accident, but it happened in France and the drunk driver messed up. It's unfortunate, but he's 35 years old. Why is he so fixated on his mother and the drunk driving accident?

Why is he standing around while his wife mocks his family and imitates his life?

No one did anything wrong. Markle and her husband agreed to pay the several million pound debt to the public purse. The public purse is wondering when that will happen. When it will start, when will the couple address their debt to the people and make restitution - dragging his reputation through the mud alongside her father.

Why are they paying for renovations that had to be done anyway.
They already paid for the actual remodeling.
Did you look at the cost of renovations made to the other residences like Royal Lodge?

M&H were modest in their choice of Frogmore.

Royal renovation costs compared – from Frogmore Cottage to Buckingham Palace

This thread is to discuss the lawsuit. It is not for general discussion about the BRF and all other things Harry and Meghan.

Please stay on topic.

PH has committed quite a few faux pas of his own and unfortunately for him a lot of them ended up on the front pages and TV news headlines, over the years, so his festering resentment just got all stirred up once MM arrived on the scene and he became news yet again.

You must think she wanted Harry to be King?

Diana did marry a future king. Well, she got rooked there. He was dedicated to another even as he proposed to her.

Well back to the lawsuit.
How she wins - but she doesn't prevail more power to her for trying.

May they have a good year and another baby soon.

I don't know but I can guess it is to avoid people saying rude things.

He is suing as well about having his phone hacked.
