Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex vs Associated Newspapers

  • #241
The Court of Queen's Bench is a thing in all commonwealth countries. It originated in England, and exists in places like Canada. Law is printed by the Queen's Printers in Canada.

It's bizarre that Markle would marry Prince Harry and then claim that she doesn't trust law and Court of Queen's Bench. It's more or less reveals that she doesn't know Harry and his role in the Royal Family.

Celebrity gossip is the same all over the world. If Markle thought that she could bypass Harry's expectation that she not manipulate the press by feeding information to 5 friends, that's sneaky.

Isn't that nice that people fund raise in LA.
Do they squish truth in courtrooms?

Please provide a link to where Meghan said she does not trust the court.

TMZ is quite dramatic. Drips from celebrity news. Does Markle not want to be a celebrity? Any thoughts on what she is doing in LA pitching story teller roles if it's not celebrity related?

Negative Markle press is not a UK thing. Everyone knows that. They are LA celebs. Many are not impressed so far, but anything is possible.

The lawsuit seems quite shameful. Markle could have settled this in her favour, but her choice is to parade her five friends through the courts where it will be determined whether Markle knew they were gossips.
TMZ is worse than the UK tabs. They are more aggressive to get a picture.

MOO totally disagree.

Fergie was having an affair while seperated from Andrew and got photographed getting her toes kissed etc.
Photos splashed in the press.
Knowing what we know now about Andrew, of course she should have divorced him faster. Still that was a genuine scandal they were still married.

Treating Meghan the same is deeply biased and dishonest.

This situation in the courts is self-inflicted. MM is the one who chose to take the newspapers to court. Her father chose to talk to the tabloids, a situation she should have tried to manage on her own by communicating with him in a positive manner.

Other than reporting on her relatives, the UK & US news media have treated MM very well. I think some people are confusing comments people make in social media with news reporting. Just because you read negative public comments under a news story doesn't mean the news story itself was negative. At the beginning of their engagement & marriage I paid close attention. The news media has been very fair, honest and positive in their reporting about MM.

Disagree.
Coverage is too negative.
And they left. And she got a lawyer to try and stand up for herself.

They left because they wanted to be in the spotlight. They couldn't handle the holiday pic of the Queen, PC, PW and PG in a photo. Many articles to support that. It's their unhealthy ego that is the issue. MOO

More negative stories.
H&M were already stepping back when photo taken.
The unfair abuse began when they started dating.

Disagree.
The negative coverage and negative speculations on what they were thinking was already a English Press staple by December 2018.

Actually the British media welcomed her. It wasn't until things flew out of the closet that startled everyone re M and the media digged deeper . She automatically assumed she would be higher than DC but DC earned her spot with her hard work and no leaks in the media re how hard things are. Its a huge pity party for H and M. MOO

I never saw bad comments about M until she started acting out.
Not following protocol, spending large amounts of money on clothes, whining while at SA.

The coverage was negative because of her behavior.

In 2016 when they first were dating and getting serious Harry attempted to stem the negativity with direct requests. But any story with shade sold like hotcakes so... no dice.
MOO the English people don't want to see themselves in a poor light, so there is a lot of effort to justify their consumption of the negativity.
Someone here said Meghan got the same treatment as Fergie so whats the problem?
Meghan is not scandalous, but she was and is treated as if she is. That is biased and unfair.

What did Meghan do to help the Royal Family??? Did she really need a $100k maternity dress?

I just looked up the dress WOW!
Beautiful. Does her husband approve? Yes. The dress was worn to state dinner in Monoco.

"As astute, regular readers of Royal Report well know, Meghan and Kate’s wardrobes are funded two ways, neither of which involves the Queen slipping them a stack of hundreds to buy themselves a little something when they come over for tea. It’s Prince Charles (via the Duchy of Cornwall) who covers a lot of their “official” duds, a.k.a. clothes for tours, state dinners and other work occasions. The balance comes out of their own pockets…which for both women and their husbands are more than deep enough."

Was Meghan or Kate’s maternity wardrobe more expensive?

Let me bring this back to the law suit. Negativity about things like dressing in a stunning fashion for a state dinner, a dress which was not paid for by the Sovereign Fund, but from their own funds and from Charles (net worth 1.8 billion) Charles has 300+ million a year to run his household and he often helps his sons and their wives afford dressing for state functions.
MOO its part of the bias, unfairness and dishonesty.

I am glad that you liked the dress Boxer but for 100k, I expected something better looking. That is just my personal opinion. I disagree with most of your opinions on H and M but we all have a right to our opinions. I will leave it at that.

You can support Meghan and I can not support Meghan. The beauty of free speech.

I am just grateful that I am not paying for her luxury life-style especially since she claims she escaped the Royal family ... Feel sorry for the UK.

Just one point, you never paid.
You are criticizing how they spent their own money.

She says she escaped the press. Is there is direct link from the palace to negative Meghan coverage? I hope not.

Have a good day Boxer. We are on 2 different sides of the fence and I think it is best for me to drop out of this discussion. I really do hope that I am wrong about M and hopefully I will read something that changes my mind. Until later.....
