I was also a bit uncomfortable with even discussing MH's ex- and his new family, but it may become more relevant in the near future. I find it a bit odd that since the father of MH's 5 year old has not been involved in her life at all, he and his new wife now are taking care of the little girl. Why didn't MH's parents take her? The dynamics between MH and her own mother and father are going to be key to this, and the fact that they are not now assuming care of their granddaughter is also of great interest to me.

It's probably because even though the father hasn't been in her life, he's closer as next-of-kin than the grandparents. I also think it's good the little girl is out of the area and the media scrutiny.

Besides, perhaps the father has been seeking a relationship with his daughter, but MH made it difficult for him. We really don't know yet.

There is a possibility that Sandra saw something that MH had to cover up... but personally, I lean towards the accidental poisoning theory.

Poor sweet child.

And of course, the children would have no way of knowing if she added 'dimetapp' to the grape Koolaid. When my son was 2, he drank almost a whole bottle of Dimetapp. He figured out how to open the childproof lids and it tasted good to him. Back then, the Dr.s recommended this medication for children and my son suffered frequent ear infections, and went thru 2 sets of tubes in his ears. But he was groggy in a matter of minutes! I was on the phone with poison control the whole time, and it seemed it was taking an eternity for my ex to return from the pharmacy with the syrup of epicac. The PC rep advised me to drive to the two blocks to the pharmacy with my son when I told her he was falling asleep. I pulled the car to the front door I could see my hubby standing in line. I ran in and snatched the box from him took the epicac bottle out, handed him back the box, ran back out to the car and adminstered it immediately. Poor thing threw up right there in the parking lot in front of the pharmacy. Talk about frantic! It all happened so quickly. I just knew time was a wastin'. My hats off to the poison control operator who called every hour thru the night to check on him!

just an example of hwo quickly OTC meds work when large doses are consumed...

Actually, the father might have had the legal right to take the child - even if he did not pay support. If there was no court order for the support, this would not necessarily be held against him. Also, in CA, child custody and child support are SUPPOSED to be two different things. But if Huckabe is on the child's birth certificate, authorities would have contacted him first as a placement for the child unless there was a solid reason not too. MH's parents might fight this decision, but if he is a good dad, then, in my opinion, the child should be placed with him, in order to all MH's family to move forward with as minimal impact to this child as possible.

Somehow, I don't think the father was very interested in any relationship with MH and his daughter. From articles previously linked, she had been working with a local attorney in Topeka to gather child support - numerous attempts at doing so. The paper that reported this, was having a hard time locating the father and his new family, but one of our sleuthers found numerous websites with them. I guess time will tell. I also guess I am a bit skeptical about the nature of a guy who fathers a child and then doesn't financially support the child. :silenced:

You make a good point. I need to reread the Topeka article for sure.

I am at a loss for the time she was spending at the church tho. Was it because of the freedom it allowed her to come and go? Was she doing drugs?

What was her real connection with the church? Did she go overboard into religion? Could this have been a "ritual" killing?

I'm thinking it might possibly have more to do with any evidence LE found on the roof. Why was there a roof search? The only thing I can think of is cameras. Anyone eles?

I admit I'm a couple of days behind :( so everyone may have already discussed this. If so, sorry, I'm trying to catch up. :)

In Lt. Sheneman's Saturday presser, which I finally got to watch, I was struck by his manner of speaking and his very limited, but (to me) very enlightening description of this crime MH committed. He said something like "there are no words". It really caught my attention.

I know a few of these things have already been discussed, but lets try a rehash, because I am just simply not buying a woman who has two previous arrests for pretty much petty theft turned into a child killer and her is why. Early on it was made very public about the Tracy 60 many search warrents were issued 15 if I remember correctly, there are 15 members of the church. Sound odd to anyone? Okay then we have the fact that Melissa is the grandaughter of the pastor of this church that has only 15 members and has not had a service since 2007. Then we have a "janitar-caregiver who lives in a 4,000 square foot house, getting paid doing work for a church that doesn't hold services in over a year? sound odd? Then you have two people that could have possably seen FW at the pond, one who claims to have seen someone looking like him in a boat, another being a police cadet who sees a truck similar to the one this caretaker drives, also similar to the truck that drops off a note at the memerial. Another thing, Police have said they do not expect any more arrests in "THIS PARTICULAR CASE . First off I dont beleive it, I think they are saying that for the others involved to let down their gaurd. I am in no way saying that Melissa is not involved, because I beleive she is in someway, she practically handed herself over to police. I think the church is a cover for something else like the Tracy 60 that way reported early on.

I see it like this, let the "crazy woman take the fall"
She sees it like this, if I abmit to this I claim being crazy and I'll go to a mental health facility and get out in a few months.
The cops are saying "we got our person" so others let down their gaurd give them enough rope they will hang themselves get everyone focused on Melissa and the rest will go back to their "business" and they get caught red Handed.

Now everything I have just posted is my own opinion, and I rarely post responces like this on here so please be kind , LOL
I don't believe Fred lives in a 4,000 sq. ft. house, but lives in a mobile home park instead. I don't think he was involved, but perhaps he did suspect Melissa early on and the reason he was defending the Pastor. It would not surprise me to find he was suspicious after she mentioned the stolen suitcase and he was looking for it. (Maybe Melissa had also mentioned the fake note to him about Whitehall, the water, etc.)

We also know the 15 PLUS SWs were not for members of the church. Some were inside the mhp, one was at the dojo, all the vehicles taken to be examined, other places outside the area were also searched where non-members had relatives, several SWs pertained to the Lawless search on their home, vehicles, the shed, and the church. (These should be unsealed by Tuesday to reveal what evidence they found to charge Melissa.)

The video I saw early yesterday showed Sgt. T. Sheneman putting closure to the case. He referred to being glad it was over. He also stated several times there were no other suspects or no further arrests to be made in this case.

The Tracy60 have never entered the picture here other than in the minds of people who want to connect them to Sandra's murder, imo. Evidently, LE did NOT find any such connections or they would have arrested the people along with Melissa.

The father of her child may have felt removed from the situation since he did live in Kansas then Arkansas, but I don't condone his failure to pay his child support or take time for his child until now. Still, it is important to the child to be with her father right now, imo. No matter how awful he has been in lack of care earlier for whatever his reasons...she desperately needs his support now and in the future. We can only hope he holds up to his responsibilities and will give her the best care from here forward. Poor little girl is facing a lifetime of pain and ridicule for the actions of her mother. :( There are so many victims in this senseless crime.

Maybe security cameras? It would show if MH was alone or with someone and what she does with the suitcase.

I posted a link to the court filings. It appears at one time he was active military. I assume child support is automatically taken from military pay? Then when he left the military for civilian employment, MH would have to refile for a new support case. MOO :)

All fathers need to be responsible. No excuses ever.

Could be. This would clear up any involvement of another person to see her on video acting alone and a good reason for LE to state she did act alone.

Melissa's daughter is NOT with the birth father, she is with unamed members of her
family in Southern California. It was reported on tv last night.

Then I am confused. It was said it was reported on the local news live last night she was with the father and step mom. (Weren't you the one who reported it or was I too tired?!)

That goes to show the press does not always get it right. Our local news (that covers Tracy) said she was with father and step mother. We don't know for sure, nor do we need too, IMO.

Case Number 09L 000584
Plaintiff: Lincoln Center OB-Gyn
Defendant: Amanda B Huckaby (w/ John L Huckaby mentioned in documentation)

Just noticing that one of the cases against John and Amanda is for money owed to an OB-GYN. I was wondering if that could mean that they had a baby. Amount was for $731.74, which I think is low if a baby was born, still think it could be possible?

That was excellent!! :) Thanks for letting us know about it, Dogwood!

He answered my question about the tips! I also thanked him and the TPD for their excellent work on the case and their professionalism. Bravo!! Job well done!!

Thanks to Dogwood's GREAT catch and my lucking into seeing it, I caught most of it. No new arrests expected; if others were involved, Sgt. TS said they would have been arrested at the same time as MH and thus ease community fears.
