The last time I was in New York, I got to meet Meredith. She is a very classy lady, and very down to earth.

I really like her and think she will do well on Today. She once was on
60 Minutes herself and is a good interviewer, as well as having a great personality. I think she will fit right in...

Joy just said she's alwyas wanted to call her a skinny *itch. She was just joking but how rude!

Star is getting all emotional. Gag me.
I think Joy has forever "poked" FUN as she says at Meredith and I think JOY means it! She just uses her humor to mask her jealousy.

GOOD FOR MERIDITH. You go girl

I too suffered sexual abuse as a child. I am well into my 40's and came from middle class, white America. That just was not something that was talked about nor something that anyone wanted to admit happened during those times. It is a much different society today in regards to that. There is still the shame associated with it by the victim, for sure, but at least they can be taken seriously and have it investigated not swept under the rug. In my case, I was taken for counselling as it was implied that I was "making things up". I have some satisfaction that the perp in this case is in prison forever. The problem is that he was paroled twice and rearrested so he's in there for 3 strikes and you're out but the truly sad part is that just last year with advances in technology, he was tied to a murder by DNA during one of those periods that he was out on parole.
It is just a different climate today than it was years ago for us "old" folks.

lymom3 - I hope that you have learned to cope and are living a wonderful life now. I don't know if this was a family member, but he sounds extremely dangerous. It is a good thing that you were not physically harmed or killed by this man.

Just a next door neighbor but it sickens me how the "system" paroled him so many times. He would tell them that he didn't mean to hurt these women but when the urge came over him that he just couldn't help himself. The mental health professionals also said that he couldn't be fixed yet they paroled him twice. LE bears a good portion of the burden of blame on this one too as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't mean for my last post to sound like it was a pity party. I know he is where he belongs. I am married and have 3 great kids. I would not give that man the power to ruin my life. I had counselling to deal with a few issues that were left over as an adult but life is too short to waste it. !!

Meredith's abuse was due to a "domestic violence" situation. She was living with a man who abused her. She talks about how it took her 12 months to finally break free. It is refreshing to see "smart" women come out about this situation. Some are quick to judge and dont understand why the woman stays. They think women are stupid and deserving to stay and endure-it's just not that easy! These women do not enjoy being beaten and abused!
