I've stayed off this thread for a few days, I'm local.
My Uncle Steve worked for the RR, back then it was NY Central.
We rode that line countless times. It's beautiful, along the Hudson River.
I clearly rememer the conductor calling the stops as he walked.

Spuyten Duyvil, next was High Bridge, as we made our way to NYC.

Classic stops. Restaurant X2O Yonkers
Iron Chef Peter Kelly

Kelly grew up in Yonkers and new restaurant on the converted Pier.

Up a few stops to Irvington. Home of Washington Irving.

Then to Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow. Home to Headless Horseman.

Tarrytown also Rockefellers.

Then to Ossining and SingSing

North to Cold Spring. West Point across the river.

North to Beacon.

Onward to Poughkeepsie and Rhinbeck.

This is personal for me.
I have been reading local news each day.

It was human error, without proper warning signals. :twocents:

Regarding warning systems, a lot of things such as cars and buses don't have any warning systems.

I don't see how installing cameras is going to keep someone from "zoning out" or falling asleep. Making sure they have those alarms installed inside the engine would help a lot more.

I-Team: Engineer in Metro-North Train Derailment Clocked Loads of Overtime

"According to the data, provided by the MTA in response to public records requests by the I-Team, William Rockefeller worked an average of 762 overtime hours per year in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Assuming a 40-hour work week with eight-hour shifts, that's the equivalent of working a sixth day every week for three years straight."
