Metro sex-trafficking sting rescues nearly 160 children, authorities say

NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - A sting on the sex-trafficking trade in metro Atlanta netted dozens of arrests and the rescue of dozens of children forced into sexual servitude, the FBI announced this week.

Operation Safe Summer was a collaborative effort between the FBI’s Atlanta field office and 38 law enforcement agencies in six metro counties . . .

The sting ended with nearly 160 children rescued, including one as young as 3 years old, and nearly 150 arrests, convictions or sentences, officials said.

This is amazing news. Those children are safe now. They will need counselling and tons of support but they are alive and they are out of there!

Sentences for those arrested need to be severe.

I hope we get info on where they are getting these kids. Sad news but great news at the same time. The media needs to spread more awareness about this!

Hopefully LE has the low down on how this group operated so it can help them track down other sex trafficking rings across the country.

I hope we will hear more specifics about these 160 children rescued. That is a huge number of kiddos to be held by one group! We don’t need names or identifiers. How many have been reported as missing? Were they from specific areas or from all over the US? Were the majority runaway teens? I feel basic information would be interesting for the general public to know. JMO.
