after chaos erupted when the army killed the leader of a powerful cartel.

Agree. In Colombia we have infiltrations from associates of the Mexican cartels, mainly setting up deals to buy cocaine which is processed in laboratories here, although the raw material comes from other South American countries.

We are more affected by the Venezuelan cartel Tren de Aragua which has active "cells" operating here.

I honestly don't think it's possible to be more ruthless than El Mencho was. He's been sick for a long time, so it really comes down to how involved he has been in recent years, and if the organization is built for a smooth transition of power.

History says that the concern is not for a worse successor, but from competing factions trying to consolidate power.

Basically, a civil war inside CJNG.

Speaking of ruthless, here's a phone call that El Mencho (I call him El Menso or the dumbahh lol) made to his local police chief DEMANDING that his police force stop arresting his thugs. And the chief actually obeyed him. It's crazy. El Mencho was a literal demon.
