It is so common, isn't it? Love is treacherous.

The sum of 15 million dollars does not just lie on the street.

(A reward, that is)

I hope there is proof of death ( we had to do it with Saddam Hussein,) before any reward $ is spent. IMO

Looks like one of El Mencho's romantic partners may have outed him.

"A visit from a romantic partner of infamous cartel boss Nemesio Oseguera, known as "El Mencho," led to his capture and death.

Defense Minister Ricardo Trevilla said information from a confidante of one of Oseguera's romantic partners helped officials quickly plan the raid for the following day at the crime boss' compound."

I listened to Chuck Holton's video a bit ago, his guest mentioned Oseguera's "weakness for women". Though he said it was the woman's driver who worked with them to target him.

Happy El Mencho was taken out, but a bit of irony. Our company had a five-day resort trip planned, we were scheduled to fly into PV Monday ... text messages started circulating around 9:30 AM Sunday.

Actually yes, it was a "confidante" of the girlfriend, not the girlfriend herself. ...." information from a confidante of one of Oseguera's romantic partners"
I should have read more closely.

That driver better be in hiding !

Yes, hopefully he's somewhere safe.

Yes, hopefully he's somewhere safe.

This info going public seems to me a death sentence both to gf and confidante.

Is it even true???
Hmmm...... 🤔

It can also be financially rewarding as there was a 15 million dollar reward for El Mencho.

mistresses are a cruel mistress

I’d say, everyone is prone to midlife crises, be it a narcobaron or a legal business owner.

El Mencho likely always behaved as an alpha-male, but running a cartel is politics. He was married to Rosalinda González Valencia, herself from a powerful clan, his peer and a smart woman. As his true associate, she understood it all, she handled money laundering, connections with politicians. A accountant to the CEO, she was “the Boss”. But she was arrested in 2018, together with many of her siblings and family members, in Obrador’s time, and El Mencho separated with her. (The separation seems real and not due to incarceration).

So on the one hand, the government was after his cartel for a while. On the other, him taking a new romantic partner (in such cases, the partners are younger, and there may be kids on the side), could have sent a signal to the own henchmen. That the cartel is weakened and El Mencho, in mid-50-es, with new romantic partner/s, getting softer, perhaps?

Could someone have decided that the time had come to jump the train?

All I got from the story is that: 1) Mexico was after CJNG for quite a while, weakening it slowly and 2) we’ll probably never know who and how betrayed him.

I also don’t know what led to Valencia’s fall. Quite likely, a new president (Obrador) getting elected in 2018 and with this, some politicians retiring.

Maybe someone knows more about this story?

Pretty interesting, tbh.
