I found the case of this little girl on the UID wikia and figured I should post her here. There are no English reports on the case and my Spanish is limited, so I apologize for any translation mistakes.

This little girl, nicknamed "Angela" by authorities, was found in a suitcase in Mexico City on March 23, 2015. A man was captured on CCTV footage dropping off the suitcase two days before she was discovered, but he was never identified.

She was malnourished and had been sexually abused, and died from a blow to the head. Different reports say she was anywhere from 18 months to 2 years and 4 months old, and she was likely of Central American heritage. She was 85cm tall (about 2'8") and had straight, medium brown hair, brown eyes, a small nose, and a medium complexion. She was nude but wore earrings and a red bracelet made out of thread on her left wrist.

It is theorized that "Angela" was Kimberly Alizee Torres Rodriguez, a girl who went missing along with her parents on February 7, 2014. Her parents were later found murdered, but Kimberly has never been found. Kimberly's grandmother submitted DNA samples and an article from last year said the results of the tests would be available within 48 hours of the article being published, but I haven't found anything. The article also said that Kimberly was three years and four months old, but I'm not sure if that was how old she was when she went missing or how old she would have been when Angela was found. Even if that was how old she was when Angela was found, that would make her a year older than the estimated age, but then again Angela was so malnourished that she may have appeared younger than she really was. The two girls do look very similar, and I wish I know what became of this lead.

Other articles before the possible connection to Kimberly state that authorities believe that her parents may have been murdered as well. But honestly, if she isn't Kimberly, I feel that it's very likely that her parents (or another family member) were behind this.

Thank you for sharing this case. It looks like our Spanish speaking sleuths will have to weigh in on this one.

Poor beautiful girl! Those eyelashes are amazing.

A few more details after reading the articles: She had on stud earrings and (imo) it's possible that the red string bracelet has some kind of religious or spiritual significance. There were also two outfits in the suitcase that were good quality, suggesting that she did not live on the streets. One article says that she died of a broken neck. Isotope testing might be interesting for this one - they say her "traits" suggested that she was not from Mexico but doesn't specify what they mean by this exactly.

The area where she was found is a very busy and populated part of Mexico City. If the Berlin street I'm looking at is the correct one, it's in the Zona Rosa (wealthy, touristy) and quite small. If I'm reading it right, the suitcase she was found in was like a rectangular rolling one (as opposed to a giant more old-fashioned more square type) and it was found in some kind of planter (I'm thinking like small garden or landscaping plot near a store or something?) .

She was embalmed and placed in Parque Memorial in Naucalpan, State of Mexico. Another article says the Cemetery of San Isidrio. Her tombstone says "Angela, the strength of your soul will last forever. Rest in Peace."

I'm pretty sure I read in one of the articles that they couldn't bear to put her in the pauper's graves so raised money to buy a lovely white coffin and have her interred in a cemetery. I can't remember which one though!

Red string bracelets are common for a few different cultures, most notably Jewish Kabbalah but I've also seen them put on Hispanic babies to ward off evil I think they are called ojo de verdano(sp?)

Interesting video and article (in Spanish) Así terminó la terrible historia de la niña que fue hallada muerta en una maleta en México (contains postmortem image)

It has an interview with an eyewitness that lives on the street who saw a man drop off a black suitcase (looked like a large duffle bag). There is a digital re-enactment of the guy placing the bag in an area of the sidewalk where there are some plants. There is also one of the little girl in the clothes she was wearing. The article says that there was a backpack inside the suitcase that contained jeans, a jacket, and a hat for the little girl. She also had perfect, well-maintained teeth suggesting that she was well cared for during life.

DNA profile was sent to multiple countries with no matches and they continue investigating. Interesting to see the actual place where the suitcase was found.

Oh, I also made an error on the wording on the tombstone. I read FUERZA and it says PUREZA. So "The purity of your soul will last forever." Just saw a larger picture of it. I am getting old people eyes!

Annemc2, thank you so much for all of the updates and additional details!
I've seen red string bracelets in Asian cultures as well, I believe as a token for good luck. It seems like they're pretty widespread.

It's interesting that the one article said she died of a broken neck, all of the ones I found said head trauma. Could be a combination of both?

Also, perfect teeth, expensive clothes, a nice suitcase and in a wealthy district of the city, but she was also badly malnourished. I'm always inclined to believe that the family is behind it when a child is found murdered (particularly an unidentified child) but the fact that her teeth were well cared for stands out. So whoever was caring for her took the time to brush her teeth and presumably take her to the dentist but didn't bother to feed her properly?

At that young of an age I'm not sure that her teeth being in good shape means much. Most dentists don't even start seeing kids until age 3. My son didn't get a cleaning till age 4 because the first time we went at 3 they just examined them so he would feel comfortable the next time.. Lots of kids just have perfect tiny white teeth for the first few years and then neglect and poor diet catch up with them. My daughter is 21 months old which is right in the middle of this little girl's age range and she was late to get teeth, didn't get her 1st tooth till 12 months so she hasn't even had teeth for a year so they still look like cute new little baby teeth. I do brush them but she bites the toothbrush the whole time so I don't always get a good brushing done.

This little baby reminds me of the Anjelica Castillo case in New York.

You have a point. I apparently hated having my teeth brushed so I ended up needing a ton of dental work when I was very young, around four or so. So older than Angela by quite a bit. I don't have kids myself so I don't know much about when they get their teeth and such, so I appreciate the insight!

She reminds me of Anjelica too. That case stands out to me because, even though she was still murdered by a family member, it wasn't a parent/stepparent/parent's SO etc, it was her cousin, and the rest of her family was scared to come forward. So maybe it was a similar situation with Angela, where an extended family member or family friend killed her but her family isn't coming forward for whatever reason.

or this child was kidnapped from parents who cared for her then beaten, starved and sexually assaulted.

Very true, as a preschool teacher I work with 3-5 year old children who have the uncanny ability to eat sugar nonstop and still maintain perfectly white baby teeth. It doesn't mean much at such a young age.
