Police are now stalling and making excuses, presumably about interviewing the drivers. JR is totally frustrated with the complacent attitude of authorities. Someone comments "Welcome to Mexico."

https://www.facebook.com/groups/helpfindjenny/permalink/647525792089135/

Hi, Lilibet and everybody else here! Thanks for keeping Jenny's thread active. It was hard without any new knowledge due to the closed FB status.

I think JR may have changed the HFJ page back to public after hearing it explained to him that if the Missing Poster wanted to be shared, sharing would mean it would only be seen by the group's members and no one else. Whatever the reason, I'm glad he did. Doesn't seem like we missed much, at least from what we see now on the HFJ page. Unless he's deleted stuff.

I guess it turns out the police wasn't about to allow interviewing the drivers without going through them. Didn't he tell us after his last visit to MX and meeting with the transportation executives that they'd be able to speak to the drivers, bypassing the police?

Arghh, here we go down the roller coaster ride once again. (referring to JR now saying the Oaxaca police are stalling and giving excuses once again.)

So let's say the LE has already interviewed the driver, and determined that he dropped Jenny safely in Quintana Roo, as she planned. They rely on tourism in that area, especially in the Springtime when Jenny disappeared. After looking into the Dana Rishpy case, I've found how serious the QR government is about keeping crime in the touristy areas as hush hush as possible. I doubt they will want it known if she came in danger in Cancun. I mean they've convinced Jenny's parents (as far as we know), that she's off happily backpacking around Mexico. In Dana's case, a brave reporter covered the story and the cover-up, which put pressure on QR LE to reopen the case. But these days, with the reports of journalists being killed, I doubt that will happen. It seems like pressure from the US government might help, but I don't know if JR is working that angle beyond his first contact with them.

Sorry for rambling post... I don't have much hope we will ever find out what happened to her.

Which LE did JR file a report with?

Which LE is JR trying to get to speak to the Corona driver?

QR or Oaxaca or ????

JR will not get help from the US, as Jenny is not a citizen.

You make some good points about LE in QR and really, any other locations in Mexico not wanting bad publicity. A lot of us are already spooked about going to Mexico. Of course, as we are seeing worldwide, no place is completely safe.

I've never figured out how interviewing the drivers will help. Why would one confess anything and how can it be proven if they are telling the truth or lying? If one claims he dropped Jenny off somewhere, will JR believe him and will his PI go to the place she was supposedly dropped off? Calling the driver a "suspect" indicates to me that they won't be satisfied with the claim that she was dropped off. But I would hope they would follow up on that claim.

Regarding pressure from the US or even Chinese governments, I can't imagine that they would put diplomatic and trade relations on the line by leaning on Mexico in a case that could still be considered a voluntary disappearance. If Jenny is found deceased that might allow her family to put pressure on the Chinese government to do more. But I can't imagine the US government doing anything. I don't mean that as a criticism. Jenny is not a citizen, so they have no legitimate reason to intervene IMO.

I agree that it's unlikely Jenny will be found. :(

Seriously, all this talk about trying to track down the Corona driver is upsetting, I can't believe we are still at this point months later!

Jonathan and his "team" should have, LONG AGO, rented a car and driven every inch of road, stopped at every town along the way from Oaxaca to Cancun and back, and handed out fliers and talked to more people. The longer he drags this on, the less likely we will ever find Jenny.

My guess is that his initial report was to the Cancun (Quintana Roo) LE since he didn't know how far she had traveled, and later to the state of Oaxaca. It is Oaxaca LE that he hopes will interview the driver, since he is said to have picked her up in Oaxaca state.

I agree, and I would add that the driving every inch of road should have happened IMMEDIATELY...long before he hired a PI and gathered a "team". It would have been cheaper to hire a reliable driver/translator than to hire a PI and attorney after the trail was cold. Based on some of JR's comments, I suspect he was overwhelmed and depressed immediately, which immobilized him. Some people are wired that way while others are wired to move heaven and earth to get things done. JMO

A couple of commenters on the HFJ page suggest (seems not for the first time) that JR needs to contact activists for help. Apparently, JR has been given the contacts of those who may be of help, but he has not contacted them thus far.

He has trusted his PI team, but they have not been able to get further results, so it may be time for him to try alternatives. I guess it is hard to know who to put his trust in, in a country like Mexico. I do feel for him, there.

From April 25:

The two agreed to meet up at the Cancun airport on April 15, but Chen never showed up, Reinhard said.

Reinhard said he's filed a missing person's report, reached out to law enforcement in Mexico and government officials in the U.S. So far, he's received few answers.

On Friday, he's planning to head back to Mexico to try to retrace his wife's steps.

http://komonews.com/news/local/seat...oes-missing-during-backpacking-trip-to-mexico

___

lots of holes in his story.

He never did retrace her steps, or just flew into Oaxaca and ate lunch/breakfast with a "team".

He never did say where or what agency he filed a missing report from.

And those are his words that said they were to meet at the airport.

From July 13. Some quotes of JR's, I haven't seen this article before, Google translate:

"...if Jenny is kidnapped, give me back. I just want to find my wife and go home."

"I want the police of Mexico take this case very seriously and stop lying to me. I make promises when I visit Mexico and then I'm all they do is make excuses. We gave them information about it, all you have to do is follow the information, how difficult this is. sickens me not to try the case of my wife with concern. "

"He said that some private investigators, in coordination with national authorities, likely found some clues about the routes and places where Jenny was. However, we can not detail because the investigation is ongoing. He sent a message to his wife in which he promises to find her.

Finally found confirmation:

on April 19 he reported [Jenny's] disappearance to the Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo, record 120/4/2016.

http://www.nvinoticias.com/nota/838...-busqueda-de-su-esposa-desaparecida-en-oaxaca

so that was 4 days after they were to meet, 8 days after she was last seen in Oaxaca, and the day before JR left Cancun to go back to Seattle (assuming they were to meet and spend 5 days together in Cancun).

According to JR, she was to leave for Cuba on April 23. So there would have been time between her going to Cuba and him leaving to fly back to Seattle where she would again be alone in Cancun??

The only thing I can think of is that the driver may have taken her back toward Juchitan and that may be why the billboard is there (still seems strange). He was said to have driven the opposite direction from the route to Cancun because of strikes blocking the road. That would have taken him south on 185 instead of north to 145D going east. Then what? Drivers don't like to go through Chiapas to the east because the road is bad. I do wonder if he wasn't really headed to Cancun and just gave her the story about the road being blocked. I would think it would be pretty easy to find out if the road was blocked that day. If not, then he clearly was up to no good. And the billboard is unlikely to help...but I don't fault him for trying.

The Plasma publicidad does billboards as well if I'm not mistaken. Plus his billboard is on top one of their stores. So maybe he got a huge discount since they probably own the billboard section themselves.

Now in regards to Corona. Most cops drink beer and Mexico cops are known to be corrupt. So they probably protect Corona interest for cash or beers. Lol. Plus Corona probably pays the cartels off to stay away from shipments.

Jmo. Because Mexico is different from the United States.

Now Jr had a description of the driver. Now once again.

Wouldnt the driver have to go to the main warehouse for pickups? So wouldn't a person camp across or near the location for arriving or departing drivers.

Come on. Plus the best and quickest and easiest way to find the driver is by paying the security guard that checks the drivers in and out. Or the shipping and receiving clerk or something.

Imo. Anyone would talk for $200 if you simply left their name out of it.

So a security guard that works the main entrance gate would probably say. Oh. That picture or description sounds like Ruiz. He's usually here on Thursdays or whatever.

Or you pay the witness $500 to camp out with you in front of the warehouse for awhile to point out the driver once they show. Jmo.

Do we know, Dexter, that JR has a description of the driver? According to his latest FB post they have known from GPS coordinates which driver was in the vicinity for months. So it seems that his PI could track the guy down with his name, even without knowing what he looks like. I think they kept getting promised by LE, but nothing got done.

New information in tnis post:

The witnesses are credible, as verified by his PI and two prosecutors.

Jenny had 40 pesos according to the witnesses and was trying to get to an ATM machine immediately. She never did.

He says either the witnesses or the driver know what happened and calls it a slam dunk lead.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/helpfindjenny/permalink/647634228744958/

It's interesting that he says the witnesses are credible, but then says they may know what happened. Does he think they are trying to blame the driver for something they may have done?

Here's a theory. The witnesses who knew Jenny was trying to find an ATM decided to "help" her by taking her to one so they could steal her money. In the process, when Jenny realized what's happening she fought them and is killed. The same scenario could apply to the driver.

I just read his "update". 🙄 I'd like to know who the heck the "witnesses" are that she apparently told she only had 40 pesos left? By self admission she was a loner, and I doubt she'd tell strangers her financial status.

I believe the radio interviews with JR and his attorney recently discussed this. We don't know if these witnesses are the same witnesses who saw her get on the Corona truck. She was said to be looking for an ATM and the one at the Pemex station was out of order. So apparently people at the Pemex knew she needed an ATM. She Is said to have slept at the station. Jenny was very good earlier on her trip at getting things for free or cheap because she was such a tightwad, even though she had money. So I can well imagine her telling strangers she only had 40 pesos in order to get their help. It could be true that she only had that amount or it might be Jenny being Jenny. I do have trouble believing she didn't get cash before she left Oaxaca city the day before or in Juchitan before going to the Pemex station. She was about to hitchhike hundreds of miles to Cancun without making sure she had money? But I have to assume these witnesses are considered credible at this point.

BBM

This alone is crazy to me. So your wife is missing, you wait a few days and then... leave? After filing a missing person's report? I've been reading Jenny's case from the beginning and I still just can't wrap my mind around WHY anyone would leave their spouse "missing" to go home.

I guess I can see that, and the point about her beginning the long trek to Cancun without cash is spot on.
