I knew someone would come through to fill in the holes in my memory if necessary. Thanks slowpoke. My mind is a steel....sieve! :D (I hate to admit that I stole that line from Woody Allen, but it comes in handy).

Ha, I like that--mind like a steel sieve. That certainly describes my own mind these days. I'll have to borrow that phrase, too! :)

I also just wanted to note that Jenny explains her reasoning for her destination points where she says " I want to see the poorest and the richest".

Jenny did talk about her itinerary to her friend. Remember that link I posted about a month ago that showed screenshots of an exchange Jenny's friend had with Jenny on 4/11/16?
Jenny wrote:
Apr 23rd
Go Cuba
June 1 St go NYC
New York City
Each one is 1 month and 8 days
Mexico is one month and half
I want to see the poorest and the richest
Friend writes:
NYC
Good for you
Jenny then writes:
I will go hitch hiking after one hour
For 4 days
Half Mexico
I am staying in a gay's house
(A couple of photos of room here)
Ok
Hasta pronton
Spanish . See you
(Her friend then writes back in Chinese)

So she doesn't mention Cancun and meeting up with Jr on her final post to her friend about her entire plans?

But all of the invisible witnesses knew about her going to meet up with her husband in Cancun?

Google translation of the caption under the screenshot:

On the map for 4.11 that day, she talked to me about the next general travel plan, her husband had planned with her in the 4.15 in Cancún (Mexico) confluence and a five-day trip, but we are in 4.11 And her last contact, when she was located in the location of Oaxaca (Mexico).

The screenshot is apparently not the entire conversation.

We still don't have even close to the whole story though. I wonder why her friend hasn't posted any more about it. That's the last mention of her disappearance on that blog. You would think they would post some type of an update, in over a year.

Good point, KaaBoom. You'd think something would be said or a plea made for information since last year. Perhaps the deafening silence from family and friends means they know something. We can only hope.

1/2 of me thinks she is with her family.

She planned to escape this guy well in advance, and she succeeded. This is the way I prefer to see things.

I think there is a high likekihood of that being accurate. The trip was most likely to give her time to make a decision. I think it was apparent what her decision was when she stopped talking to him.

I was just re-reading some of the thread, and boy have my speculations and opinions changed over time! If I have learned anything from WS, it's to never dig in on any one opinion, as things may not be as they seem...at all. Yes, there are somewhat predictable patterns and statistics we can do a little predictive modeling against, but there is also something I am now coining as the "Jenny" factor. Jenny falls waaaay outside predictive statistics. She's like quantum physics....the more you know, the less you know!

How is this case going to play out? It's a coin toss, and I don't mean to sound so cavalier with such a serious situation. My current odds are 35% she is deceased or being held against her will in Mexico, and 65% odds she is Wenzhou or living the resort life in Mexico. I certainly hope it's the latter. Jenny is (and I prefer to speak of her in the present tense), is certainly a "character". And seems oddball, quirky, maybe unbalanced, but endearing none the less.

I'm still rooting for her. Where the heck are you Jenny?!

Agree. 1 million immigrants can slip into the U.S every year.

So why couldn't Jenny Chen slip back in. Lol

So we never know if she did. Especially since Jenny was smart and the fbi hasn't been on this case to tell us anything.

So her new number that she had probably revealed alot of information.

But since Johnny doesn't know her new number. Then nobody else probably knows it as well. Jmo

In which case should she read here...
at least let us know you are ok ;)

Mexico was the second deadliest country in the world in 2016, second only to Syria.

I'm unable to link this from CNN.

No need to link. I'm pretty sure we've linked information full of statistics that tell the same story, just in a different way. As a woman, I would be terrified to hitchhike through Mexico alone, and would probably be cowering, quivering and hiding every time a vehicle went by. As someone noted above, suicide by backpack. YIKES!

The CNN story finally linked.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/09/americas/mexico-second-deadliest-conflict-2016/

Here is another link with information about Mexico being the second most dangerous "conflict zone" after Syria. 50,000 died in Syria in 2016.

The expanding drug war in Mexico claimed 23,000 lives during 2016, according to the annual Armed Conflict Survey by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
..........
In comparison, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan claimed 17,000 and 16,000 lives respectively in 2016.

"This is all the more surprising, considering that the conflict deaths are nearly all attributable to small arms," said John Chipman, chief executive and director-general of the IISS. “Mexico is a conflict marked by the absence of artillery, tanks or combat aviation.”

I will never vacation there. Thanks to Jenny, my eyes have opened widely!

So if Jenny was at the gay persons house on 4/11/16:when she posted that message to her Chinese friend. Then its safe to say that she had wifi reception in Oaxaca during that time.

But why didn't she update her Weibo journey that day.

Was she too busy. Because her last post on Weibo was 4/7/16 or something about the cartel rape and facing fears? Hmmmm.

Plus any Facebook post on the 12th could have been a picture that JR put up since he controled her Facebook after her disappearance. Jmo.

That's a good point Dexter. What was her previous Weibo posting pattern? Has anyone ever made a timeline of her activities?
