Thank you Tssiemer. I think this is one of those cases where all we can do is keep the memory of the missing person alive. :(

Every time I see a news article about crime in Mexico I think of Jenny. Needless to say, since Mexico is the wild west of the modern world, I think of Jenny a lot.

In this article, 3 college students filming for a class project were captured and killed by one of the cartel gangs. Very sad.

After they were abducted, the film students were beaten and killed, and their bodies dissolved in acid... The students, who authorities say had no connection to any criminal gangs, found themselves inadvertently enmeshed in an ongoing conflict between two drug cartels.

What happened my friend. Did you mess up on the tutu order?

Thinking about you. Hurry back.

Same. And when I explained this to someone today it became obvious how desperately I want to believe Jenny made it back to China.

That is just awful for those college students. And probably for anyone else who may want to visit here. We have a cruise planned for next year and Mexico is part of it but as much as I hate to I may consider staying on the ship.

Ha ha! Thanks Dex. Yes, I wrote the order wrong and it was delayed for 3 days, but I’m back at work. :D

It’s awful about the college students! :(

"The students’ deaths became the latest example of the lives upended by violence in a country that just marked its deadliest year in modern history, with more than 25,300 homicides."

Explosive Devices Found on Cozumel Ferries
https://www.maritime-executive.com/...ices-found-on-quintana-roo-ferries#gs._jD5Q04

"The U.S. embassy in Mexico City is warning travelers to exercise caution after two incidents on tourist ferries in Quintana Roo involving explosives. Both ferries operate out of Cozumel, a popular destination for cruise ships carrying American passengers. The embassy said that American government staff are barred from using the ferries on this route.*

On February 21, an explosive device detonated on a tourist ferry that runs between Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. The blast occurred as passengers were disembarking, and 26 people were injured, including several American and Canadian nationals."

I'm sorry to see after all this time, there's been no progress in Jenny's case. I've given up hope completely. Mexico seems like a terrible, scary mess. I'm sad for all of these victims.

I checked JR's Sexual Exploitation case, and if I'm reading correctly, it looks like he was found Not Guilty. If this is true, I hope he's able to move on with his life.

Yes, JR was found not guilty. Even though I’m a little doubtful about his story, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt as the jury did, and I hope he has learned a lesson and can move on. He’s been jerked around by the Mexican legal system long enough. He doesn’t need any more “punishment.” As much as I’d love to think that Jenny is back in China, I think JR has probably checked that out and come up empty. So, it’s back to the Corona driver as the most likely cause of Jenny’s disappearance, and we know that will never be resolved. End of story, sadly. :(

I still think there is a strong possibility she is back in China. The Chinese would not tell him a thing.

Exactly. Why would her family tell JR anything, knowing that she was running away from him? What would be the point of them telling him anything? The Chinese and Spanish language media reports were pretty clear. Jenny was alive and well and continuing her travels in Mexico, per Mexican police. Her family accepted the findings of the police and thanked them for their work. In my opinion that was the end of the case right there.

For those who don't accept that as the end, I don't know how this case will ever have any closure. Most missing persons threads with positive outcomes end with nothing more than a statement that the person has been found, and no more information after that.

I expect you’re both quite right that Jenny’s family wouldn’t tell him anything. Plus, public sentiment in China was very much against Jenny for her anti-China comments, so she would have another reason to keep a low profile if she returned.

Most missing person cases that drag on and on don’t have a positive outcome IMO and AFAIK. So either way, I don’t expect closure for this case. But I’d love to think Jenny is alive and well in China. I think the Corona driver scenario is just a likely though. This case is a strange one, for sure.
