Could she have been abducted? Are there cameras at the parking lot?

No cameras. To get to the trailhead one has to drive 33 miles along a dirt, at times washed out, road! I can’t say that she hasn’t been abducted though but I would expect the family would have been contacted for a ransom by now.

I find this odd and a bit hard to believe it is not still being looked into. A person disappearing is one thing or the dog but both without a trace just seems a bit more unlikely. I have no solid opinion on what happened but would like to know what did and to see her found.

There’s a post from April 20, 2019 on the Valle de San Quintin FB page in Spanish that explains that the authorities and SAR have not found a trace of Kat or her dog and have called off the search. Also they say that her husband placed a cross at the place she was last seen. They mention at the very end that Baja’s Attorney General’s Office (PGJE) is investigating the case. I can’t find anything else public thereafter.

Thank you.

There is a crucial piece missing from this story.
There is no logical reason for a woman in less that average health AND multiple foot fractures to go "hiking".

Yes, Except that I get the feeling Kat is a woman who is very determined to not let things hold her back from doing things. In her last post on her Kat’s Korner page she mentions her broken toes, but sounds like she was out and about at some kind of event, taking lots of pics despite it.
She sounds like a nice person. This is so sad.

This is so sad that Kat and Tootsie have still not been found. Is there a chance that they were taken by a wild animal? I presume there are wild animals n the area of the hike.
Outside of snakes and the like, there's only smaller mammals. The Baja website says that "larger predators such as mountain lions, black bears, and bighorn sheep have been effectively relocated. Mammals of Baja | Baja Unbound

I agree, I think there is a lot missing here that we do not know and may never know.

She was not in perfect health and had broken toes and decides to hike?

It was their anniversary and her husband remains behind instead of hiking with her. Was he in poor health?

The friends go ahead and leave her and the dog when she feels she cannot make the hike 15 minutes in. I wonder if she realized how far the overall trip would be?

Did the other friends have their dogs with as they did? Could her dog have tried to follow? Did their dogs react when they came back through or try to take off?

Was anyone else met on the trail coming or going?

Does she have adult children, brothers or sisters?

Are there pictures of that day by the others of both the hike, other people and events of the day? Could someone have followed them?

None of this is meant in any way at anyone nor to lean in any direction. There are simply many questions, little information and so forth. I have no solid theory other than to feel this is odd with very little information.

Thanks, GraceG, that rules that out then. Very perplexing.

It seems like it had to be an accident that somehow took both she and her dog, yet there is no sign of them? Or it had to be foul play with a human/humans involved.

More unlikely would be her willingly disappearing with someone picking her up and I don't believe that to be likely at all in such a remote area when she was with a group all day with plans.

The most likely is foul play whether on the trail or once she returned to the parking area or, if she got lost, wherever she ended up on the wrong trail.

imo anyhow from the very little we know.

No trace of Tootsie is more puzzling to me than anything. Yes, all those scenarios are possible but if it's foul play, then outsider involvement and not family, I think. Both husband and Kat seem like lovely people.

I put that as much as possible as anything. I do not know much about her nor her husband but certainly am not accusing him or her or anyone else. I do know there have been perps who have surprised us though that are not the type one would normally suspect so I do rule nothing out.

I agree that outsiders are more likely though at least based on what we know and I agree and find that having no trace of either her or the dog is puzzling. I would like to think this is still being looked into behind the scenes.

Was it just them and good friends? They were not on any kind of guided tour or anything were they?

It is puzzling, no doubt.

Agree, they say it can be the person you least suspect.
She was with friends, not a guided tour as far as I know.
Just hoping this is not going to be a case of remains found in 10 years from now...

They’ve not found her, and it’s been 3 weeks.

If you again go to the site you’ll find if you google: “Kat and her dog are missing”, her husband has personally posted an update and theory for what may have happened.

Bumping for Kat.

  • #76
Could Kat had a plan set up to leave her present life and marriage?

  • #77
A pretty quiet case that is for sure. And not a sign of her nor the dog.

  • #78
Just bumping for Kat (and her dog). I would hope she is found even if passed so the family can have answers.

  • #79
Bumping, even though it looks like this case and searches are long over and closed. I find that really sad.

Still nothing?
