3 men signed up, trained, plotted ways to kill Michigan Gov. Whitmer, according to FBI testimony
''Some of their ideas for killing the governor included sniping her at the Capitol Building in Lansing, acting like a passerby and shooting her or posing as a pizza man and shooting her, according to authorities.

Harris specifically said they could attack a pizza delivery worker, take that person’s uniform and pose as the delivery worker to get to the front door, according to the FBI.''

''The FBI agent who gave this testimony specializes in investigating terrorism.''

Michigan Gov. Whitmer on kidnapping plot: ‘They’re not militias. They’re domestic terrorists’
''Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer refuted some of the wording in the FBI’s criminal complaint about several Michiganders' alleged plot to kidnap her, saying the men are “not ‘militias.' They’re domestic terrorists.”

While the extent of planning that these people done on record perplexes me, I’m glad they did it since the evidence sounds overwhelming.

Domestic terror plot leader wanted to leave Whitmer on boat in middle of Lake Michigan, FBI says

The leader of a domestic terror plot targeting Gov. Gretchen Whitmer wanted to leave her on a boat in the middle of Lake Michigan after kidnapping her, an FBI agent testified.

FBI Special Agent Richard Trask said he personally interviewed Fox when the men were arrested Oct. 7.

“Mr. Fox stated his plan or his idea was to take her out on the boat and leave her out in the middle of Lake Michigan,” Trask said. “Disable the engine and just leave the boat around.”

FBI Special Agent Richard Trask testified at the hearing about a June 6 Dublin, Ohio meeting where four to five people met from multiple militias from different states to talk about the kidnapping plan. Trask said the group also discussed possible government targets in Virginia.

Trask said the militia members used encrypted messaging apps to communicate, and eventually became concerned that their group had been infiltrated by an informant.

Trask said two undercover FBI agents and two informants joined the group at a September exercise in Luther, where the group tested explosive devices with shrapnel inside.

Trask told the court that the group wanted to take Whitmer in a boat across Lake Michigan. He said Fox wanted to disable the boat, leaving Whitmer in the middle of the lake.

Right. They just wanted to take her for a nice boat ride, the usual punishment for "treason."

I guess if I got caught, I'd make up something like that too.

They keep saying Fox is 34 - but he was born in 1983 - so that makes him 37....

so... no bond?

  • #107
If this gang gets a bond, they may as well just pass out keys to the jail door. I honestly don’t think they have a chance.

I heard on CNN World news that the Judge set no bond for the 3.
Any next hearings for the 3? Just want to keep my notes straight, and there are WAY too many court dates to keep track for all these people...
TIA! :)

Agent: Michigan, Virginia governors mentioned in kidnap plot

By DAVID EGGERT and KATHERINE FOODY | October 13, 2020 at 7:23 AM EDT - Updated October 14 at 1:58 AM

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Members of anti-government paramilitary groups implicated in an alleged plot to kidnap Michigan’s governor ahead of the November election because of her measures to slow the coronavirus also discussed abducting Virginia’s governor, an FBI agent testified Tuesday.
[.....]
A judge ordered three of six men charged in the case held without bond until trial, delaying rulings on two defendants. Another was ordered returned to Michigan from Delaware.

and of course no "next" court date for the 3....

3 denied bond in alleged plot to kidnap Michigan governor

.....
During a hearing in a Grand Rapids federal court to review the evidence against the five Michigan defendants, Magistrate Judge Sally Berens ordered Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta to be held without bond until the trial. She said she would rule at a later date on the bond status of the other two Michigan men, Adam Fox and Ty Garbin. A sixth defendant from Delaware, Barry Croft, was ordered Tuesday to be transferred to Michigan to face the charges.
[.....]
During the brief hearing in Wilmington, Delaware, Croft waived his right to a detention hearing there but reserved his right to one in Michigan.

and again, unfortunately, no "next" court date in this one either....

I wonder why the delay in ruling, procedure? They surely can’t seriously be considering bond.

Militia member planned to pose as pizza worker to kill Gov. Whitmer: feds

“Have one person go to her house, and when she answers, just cap her,’’ suspect Daniel Harris allegedly texted his cohorts. “At this point, just f- -k it.

“Mug the pizza guy and take his shirt… to pose as a pizza guy, and when she answers the door, just take a pistol and three rounds,” wrote the suspect, nicknamed “Beaker,’’ the feds said.

also from the link above:

Five of them — Harris, Garbin, Fox, Caserta and Kaleb Franks — were in the courtroom in chains Tuesday.

Harris, Franks and Caserta had their bail denied, despite their lawyers arguing there was no real proof their plot was anything but talk.

In the case of Caserta, prosecutors noted that after he was stopped for a driving offense by cops, he seethed to his cohorts in a group chat, “The end times are approaching for these piece-of-s–t cops.

“If this whole thing starts to happen, I’m taking out as many of those mother-f–kers as i can. Every single one. … I’m sick of being enslaved and robbed by the state, and these are the guys that are actually doing it.’’

The suspect’s lawyer, Michael Hills, called the rant “inflammatory rhetoric with no follow-through.’’

The judge balked, describing Caserta’s ravings as “really chilling.’’

Garbin and Fox are set to have hearings Friday.

A sixth man, Barry Croft of Bear, Del., on Tuesday agreed to be moved to Michigan for his hearing.

A magistrate judge ordered Waterford resident Kaleb Franks, Lake Orion resident Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta of Canton Township jailed without bond while awaiting trial after determining they are dangers to the community.

The three defendants on Tuesday were:
  • Franks, 26, known as "Red Hot"
  • Harris, 23, known as "Beaker"
  • Caserta, 32, known as "Debased Tyrant"
Adam "Alpha F--- You" Fox, 37, of Potterville, and Ty "Gunney" Garbin, 24, of Hartland Township, had their hearings moved to Friday. A sixth man, Barry Croft, 44, of Bear, Delaware, is in custody in Delaware. He is being transferred to Michigan after a brief Tuesday hearing in federal court in Wilmington. He did not speak at the hearing but was present via video conference.

This sounds like they took some ideas from the person(s) who went after the federal judge recently, killing her son. “Chilling” doesn’t begin to describe this freak show.

The defense attorney trying to say it was "just talk" is rather misleading, considering they'd scouted her vacation cabin, researched LE response in the area along with nearby police posts, and had ordered materials to make bombs/explosives. and also had another governor on their naughty list. But yeah, it was "just talk."

I have no words that can be used on WS to describe that sheriff. I hope his law enforcement career is now at an end.

All my opinions.
