Deputies at a Michigan sheriff’s office said a newborn boy was found on the banks of a creek lying face-down in a wooded area.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office announced the 4-month-old was found Wednesday in Orion Township, which is about 40 miles north of Detroit.

Deputies said the baby was found in a hypothermic state, meaning his body was losing heat. They wrapped the boy in warm blankets after removing his wet clothing.

The newborn was taken to a nearby hospital for overnight observation and is in the care of child protective services.

Thankfully, deputies were able to determine a baby was missing, which triggered an immediate large response and search, and they were able [to] locate the child,” Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a Facebook post. “Their quick work avoided what could have been an unspeakable tragedy.”

Investigators said a 37-year-old woman, who wasn’t identified as of Wednesday, was reported to be ringing doorbells in the area where the baby was abandoned. Neighbors said she was distraught and thought someone was chasing her with guns.

When deputies talked to the woman, they learned she had an infant son, which prompted the search that led to the discovery of the baby.

Deputies said they are seeking a warrant for the mother’s arrest and believe the case may involve prescription drug abuse.

Well, this is already weird...
Gonna follow -- Thanks for the thread, @imstilla.grandma.
That the baby was only in the hospital for one night of observation is great news. Sounds like he is a tuff little guy. This line from the article in your post --
"Deputies said they are seeking a warrant for the mother’s arrest and believe the case may involve prescription drug abuse."
--- sounds tiresome, pitiful, and aggravating.
We'll see where it goes...

They don't name her and then there's the mention of some prescription med chaos. Reunification process say we give it a year.

It's miraculous this little one is alive.

BBM

I'm confused. Have two babies been found? One the "newborn" baby found on the banks of the creek, and another who is "the 4-month-old" found in Orion Township?

Were they searching for the infant son of the door-bell-ringing mother and actually found two abandoned babies?

Or is there one baby, either newborn or a four-month-old?

The articles have the same photos, so I am certain they are one in the same. Early reporting is often updated when more information comes to the media outlets. Refreshing and comparing media reports with breaking news often helps to understand differences MOO Also, helps to read more than the headline on articles as sometimes editors do "click bait" and body doesn't come close to what body of article says... or headline isn't updated when body of article is updated MOO And then we have on scene comments made and leaked to MSM, then clarified by official office press releases which correct spontaneous comments early on ???

MOO, seems to happen often these days with the goal of MSM to be first reporting.... we see this in so many cases at WS MOO

Property owners in the area first reported the incident after observing a suspicious “lone woman” hiding in the bushes in the area of Waldon and Joslyn Roads near Pontiac around 8:35 a.m. on April 7. The woman claimed she was being chased by an armed individual.

“[She] was hiding ... and ringing their doorbells,” Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said. “The residents said the woman appeared distraught and said she believed someone was chasing her with guns.”

By the time authorities arrived, the “frantic woman” had moved on, according to investigators. No other people were seen in the immediate vicinity. A local middle school later reported another sighting of the woman who was “pounding on the locked doors of the school,” law enforcement said.

The 37-year-old woman was later located by Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies. Under questioning, she allegedly admitted to having a baby boy. Detectives later noticed burrs on the Orion Township woman’s pants and became concerned for the child’s welfare. A search team was subsequently deployed to the surrounding area where the distraught woman was originally spotted by neighbors.

What a miracle that he was found before it was too late. I know reunification is usually the goal, but I have doubts about this one. How long should one wait before they know she has it totally together and wouldn't do something to reckless again?

Meanwhile the baby is just sitting in Foster care, in limbo....very sad situation for this poor baby. :(

“We are people just like you, trying to do the best job we can,” Summers said.
“One thing that feels good is being able to find older folks who wander off or get lost. They’re getting older and don’t remember where they are. Things change fast. There’s new technology. And they’re afraid. There’s been a few times I’ve been able to reunite someone with their family and get them home where they feel safe.
