Deceased/Not Found MI - Amy Derewitz, 21, Dearborn Heights, 3 June 2001 *D. Kniga guilty*

Amy Marie Derewitz disappeared after a confrontation with her ex-boyfriend, David Kniga. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in her case and stated that he put her body in a dumpster. Her body has never been found.

I am hoping that someone can comment on landfill searches and how often they're successful. I know that some bodies have been recovered from landfills.

This article says that cadaver dogs can detect human remains in a landfill at a depth of 20--25 feet:

I know that landfills can be much deeper than that, but I don't know the maximum depth.
