Or tries to sanitize it for that matter?

If things went down the way he said they did the forensic evidence would have more than likely supported his story. Instead, he tries to get rid of all the evidence, and probably wipes the gun down (didn't expect that crime lab would still find only his DNA on it).

One of the better points the pros made in closing is if TH had walked in on them as JB says, what are the odds her first instinct is to look around behind her for a shotgun, finds one loaded, safety off and racked, and is able to raise and aim it and hit AH (in a place and at an angle that the ME said was highly unlikely given JB's story), re-rack and fire again without JB being able to stop it. And why was there no trace of AH's blood or DNA whatsoever in the trailer?

Here is the measuring tape the pros offered to the jury during his closing that they could use in their deliberations if they wanted. That was a nice touch, double meaning IMO...telling them directly that the trailer was too confined and the weapon too long for JB's story to be true, and kind of telling them in an indirect manner that their story would "measure up" better.

Well, key things for me are all the shots - two to Tonya does not speak of self-defense. All the bruises to Amy that are unexplained. No evidence that Amy was even in the trailer.
Small size of trailer, size of shotgun...
Defense did not present any blood splatter or shot splatter to counter prosecution claims...

Wow. Quickest case brought to trial in a long time and almost done. Hopefully the jury will be quick with their guilty verdict as well.

Wow is right. Pros and Def stipulated to things that dropped 6 experts off the pros list, defense barely put up a case in chief.

Pros made a good case for murder 1 for at least TH IMO.

They did not present a motive.

Carolina Girl is right in that the pros didn't claim to know the motive...but they did throw a suggestion out there during closing (me paraphrasing Kaps):

"JB goes to the Henslee house to pickup AH (sex, drugs, some other pretense) lets hypothesize that as true...explains her leaving house in pajama bottoms and tennis shoes. They go westbound...I don't know exactly what happened, but something goes bad - argument disagreement, AH wants to go home - you know AH was assaulted (bruises and abrasions) nothing in JB's story to explain that. Somewhere along this morning she goes these bruises and abrasions...whether attempt to force sexual relationship on her, argument...any number of things to create this situation where the anger or fear of being reported to police causes him to grab his shotgun wherever it may have been, and he shoots AH, probably out near the trailer. Then TH comes along and discovers what he's done, says "no I am not going along with this"...he says "yes you are"...that's as reasonable a story as his."

I think I found the answer to this. The town council and committee meetings noted below are every 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. Its likely that there are a number of individuals involved with operating the courthouse who are also involved with the council or committees.
