Found Deceased MI - Andrew 'Andy' Bray, 75, Norway, 1 Jan 2017

So sad...hard for me to imagine choosing this method for suicide.

Suicide in general is incomprehensible. Self preservation is human nature. I agree though, this seems a particularly inconceivable way to take you own life. [emoji22]

Gardener posted how close the river was to where he lived....maybe the river had memories of healthier happier times?

That is a comforting theory (as comforting as a suicide theory can be).

From the article:
"The Sherriff’s Office said the man had been missing since January from Norway, Michigan (Dickinson County Michigan) and was suicidal. In this case, officials have ruled his death a suicide and no foul play is suspected."

Wishing Andy and his family peace and comfort. I am so sorry.

And much appreciation for the volunteers from Michigan Backcountry Search and Rescue Team for their hard work and dedication. The group's FB page (under its founder, Michael Neiger's name) has a bit more information on their search for Andy and a few photos taken during the operation. The page is organized very well, updated on a regular basis and is full of good SAR-related information. Also, their services are provided free of charged to victims, their families and police departments:
